Three people charged over alleged highway robbery of tourist near Cardwell
Police are investigating reports a German tourist was robbed at gunpoint at a highway rest stop in Far North Queensland. It is alleged three people confronted the 18-year-old man at a rest stop on the Bruce Highway, at Cardwell, late yesterday. Police said he was threatened and robbed at gunpoint, with the offenders stealing his vehicle. The car was later located near Townsville and the occupants charged with two counts each of armed robbery while in company. A 26-year-old man, a 27-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy are due to face court in Townsville on Monday. Cardwell is a quiet fishing community with about 1,500 residents, located halfway between Townsville and Cairns, on the Bruce Highway. Cassowary Coast Mayor Teresa Millwood said the allegations were shocking. "It's really upsetting that somebody would come to our quiet community and do such a terrible act," she said. "To have that done to anybody is a disgrace, let alone a backpacker that will go away from our beautiful community with a terrible memory. "I just have no words really."

3 charged in armed South Side kidnapping of 2-year-old girl to remain in jail
Three people are facing several charges in the kidnapping of a two-year-old girl who was found safe earlier this week. Prosecutors said the child's mother kidnapped her from her grandmother's house at gunpoint, with the help of two armed men. All three appeared together in front of a judge Saturday afternoon. The judge said the child's mother is the mastermind in what he called a kidnapping scheme that involved guns, death threats, and even leveraging her child's location for her own release. In court, prosecutors said 22-year-old Angelique Mobley and 33-year-old Lamon Weathers were dating during the kidnapping. They said Mobley and Weathers, 27-year-old Matthew Price, and another unknown person somehow gained access to the 2-year-old's grandmother's building near 48th Street and Michigan Wednesday morning. The judge said they had cased the building before forcing their way in and threatening the child's great uncle and girlfriend at gunpoint before taking off with the grandmother's purse, keys, and car. Mobley was armed with a wrench while Weathers and Price had guns. The crew told police they ditched the grandmother's car before returning to their own car and taking off with Mobley's 2-year-old daughter. Prosecutors say they dropped the little girl off with a relative of Weathers in Danville, Illinois. After a quick Google search, the relative saw a news story about the missing child and called the police, which led to her rescue. Police caught up with Mobley and Weathers. Prosecutors said that's when Mobley told police she would tell them where her baby was if they let her go. The state also pointed to a Facebook live by Mobley in which she said she was going to take her child back from the grandmother. The judge expressed concerns about the background of the three. Mobley has two pending retail theft charges. Price, who said he's a full-time babysitter with a battery and gun arrest. And weathers, who was arrested in a security uniform and says he's an associate pastor, has seven felony convictions, including an aggravated assault charge he just pleaded guilty to earlier this month. On top of a kidnapping charge for all three, Mobley is facing residential burglary. Weathers and Price are charged with home invasion with a firearm. Price is also facing a stolen vehicle charge. All three were ordered to remain in jail. The judge said that Mobley, the child's mother, could expect a possible fourth charge of home invasion. They're all expected back in court later this week. It's unclear if the fourth person involved has been identified or arrested by police.

Armed robber who tied up wealthy CEO's daughter & her mum in terrifying £220k gunpoint raid ordered to pay back tiny sum
A VIOLENT robber who tied up a wealthy CEO's daughter and her mum in a £220,000 gunpoint raid has been ordered to pay back just £26. Emily Aitchison and her mum Kerry were attacked by the robbers posing as cops at their £2.5million home in Sandbanks. 5 5 Ashley Fulton and henchman Aaron Evans burst into the luxury property and bound Kerry, 55, by her hands and feet. When daughter Emily arrived home, the armed robbers dragged her around by her hair and threatened to burn her with an iron. They also chillingly warned the estate agent they would shoot her in front of Kerry unless she opened the family's safe. But brave Emily refused to comply with the thugs' demands and wrongly entered the code twice. She then caused the intruders to flee after telling them putting it in incorrectly a third time would trigger an alarm. The thugs managed to make off more than £200,000 of luxury watches, designer handbags, jewellery, cash and their mobile phones. But Evans has now been ordered to pay back just £26.66 after splurging most of the cash he made from flogging the stolen loot. Bournemouth Crown Court heard Fulton will have to fork out £4,156 to the traumatised family. The Crown Prosecution Service could revisit the order in the future if the criminals come into any more money. Fulton, 43, was jailed for life with a minimum of nine years and 192 days for robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and a string of fraud offences. Evans, also 43, was handed a 12-year jail term for robbery and possession of an imitation firearm. Bournemouth Crown Court heard the horror unfolded on February 21 last year when the pair broke into the home of Mark Aitchison - CEO of Colten Care, which owns 21 care homes in the south of England. Both Kerry and Emily were locked in the toilet as the thieves ransacked the property before escaping. The bungling criminals left behind a trail of clues that enabled police to catch them. Officers discovered their getaway car, which was caught on CCTV, was registered to Fulton's address. When they searched the vehicle, police found DNA on vapes left inside was a match for DNA found inside the ransacked property. Phone records showed Fulton had Googled the exact rare model of Patek Philippe watch they had stolen just two hours after the raid. He had also made online orders for police ID wallets and lanyards that the pair used to trick their way into the Aitchison house. Emily previously told how she was unable to leave the house for six weeks and cried every day for a month following the horror. 5 5 5
