Livvy Dunne brushes off brutal NYC apartment rejection as she's handed iconic award
Livvy Dunne might have been brutally denied her dream apartment earlier this week but, in typical fashion, the former LSU gymnast has managed to bounce back. It emerged earlier this week that Dunne, 22, had tried to spend big on a three-bedroom co-op in New York City, that was once owned by baseball icon Babe Ruth. Incredibly, though, her $1.59m cash offer was rejected by the building's management, amid reports that current residents were unhappy that she had overshared about the potential purchase. Despite the brutal blow, which went viral on social media, Dunne has landed back on her feet after being named on the prestigious 2025 TIME100 Creators list. Along with the likes of Joe Rogan, Alix Earle and Alex Cooper, Dunne was named in the 'Titans' category of the list. Being named on the list marks a move into the mainstream for Dunne, who's romance with MLB star Paul Skenes has also elevated her public image. The former college gymnast has soared in popularity in recent years over social media and now boasts 5.4 million followers on Instagram alone. Speaking to the outlet, she said: 'It was always a goal of mine to get that blue check mark on Instagram. 'I actually drew it on a piece of paper, cut it out, and stuck it on my mirror.' She added: 'Breaking down barriers and beating everyone's expectations was very fun. The legacy that I'm leaving, I hope it's bigger than me.' Meanwhile, Dunne made headlines this week after sharing the story of how she was brutally denied a New York apartment which she had set her sights on. The ex-LSU gymnastics star told people about her exciting plans and even hired an interior designer because she 'didn't want to bring college furniture to Babe Ruth's apartment'. 'That would be criminal,' she admitted. However, just as she appeared to have landed the historic space, Dunne and boyfriend Paul Skenes were dealt a major blow. 'The week that I'm supposed to get my keys to my brand new apartment, I get a call... the co-op board denied me,' she recalled. 'So pretty much the people in the building voted to not have me live there. Which is fine. 'Honestly, it wasn't financial. For all I know, they could've been Alabama fans and I went to LSU. Like, I have no clue. 'Maybe they didn't want a public figure living there, but I was literally supposed to get the keys, and that week they denied me. 'It was just iconic, it was so cool that it was Babe Ruth's apartment. But long story short, don't try to live in a co-op. You might get denied and you won't get Babe Ruth's apartment.' Ruth's former home, located at 345 W.88th St. in New York City, went back on the market earlier this year.

Mary Lou Retton's shocking mugshot, bodycam footage of DUI arrest released
The bodycam footage from Mary Lou Retton's DUI arrest earlier this year has been released. The former Olympian, 57, appears in the shocking video, released Tuesday, wearing a bright yellow shirt and and brown shorts, as she's pulled over by police. The officer then gives her some instructions for a sobriety test as she murmurs, 'Oh my God.' The former gymnast appears to become a bit combative, huffing, 'Oh, come on,' when the officer demands that she continue trying to balance herself for a few more seconds. Although Retton was pulled over in West Virginia, she told the cops she only had a Texas-issued license — but that it was not on her at the time — and that she only had her passport. The former athlete informed the officer that she was refusing the breathalyzer test, despite that meaning she would obtain an additional charge for declining to do so. The entire ordeal, which took place in an AutoZone parking lot on May 17, resulted in Retton getting handcuffed for driving under the influence. She became emotional and told a loved one, 'Oh my God, Gia. They think I'm drunk,' as the latter tried to advocate on her behalf to police. The officers still escorted Retton down to the station, however, and upon her arrival there, she told a policeman, 'I mean, really. …I know, you know [who I am].' While at the station, the former gold medalist got her mugshot taken, which was also released Tuesday. She appeared to be crying and very upset while posing for the photograph. In the bodycam footage, the mom of four continued to break down. Reps for Retton did not immediately respond to Page Six's requests for comment. Retton's arrest first became public in late May. At the time, online records showed that she had been booked in Marion County for 'driving under influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or drugs; penalties.' Per a police report, she drove her Porsche 'all over the roadway' with a container of wine beside her. Retton received a $100 fine and told 'Entertainment Tonight' after a court appearance in June, 'I take full responsibility for my actions. What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. 'To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry. I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life. I truly appreciate your concern, encouragement and continued support.'

BREAKING NEWS Olympic legend Mary Lou Retton speaks out for the first time since DUI arrest
Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton has issued a groveling apology in the wake of her DUI arrest, speaking out for the first time since the shocking incident last month. The 57-year-old retired gymnast appeared in court in West Virginia on Tuesday and has now spoken out for the first time, opening up on her 'completely unacceptable' actions. On May 17, Retton was found in her car in a parking lot with a screw-top bottle of wine on the passenger seat, before refusing to have her blood tested for alcohol. In court on Tuesday, Retton entered a no contest plea to a non-aggravated DUI charge, receiving a $100 fine - the standard amount for a first-time offense. 'I take full responsibility for my actions,' she told PEOPLE after the court hearing, her first public statement on the incident nearly a month on. 'What happened was completely unacceptable,' she added, through her attorney Edmund J. Rollo. 'I make no excuses. To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry. 'I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life. I truly appreciate your concern, encouragement and continued support.' In addition, she asked for 'privacy as she moves forward with her personal and professional life.' Retton previously courted controversy in 2023, when she was hospitalized with a rare form of pneumonia and her family set up a Spotfund page for support, which went on to raise over half a million dollars. The family soon drew criticism after refusing to clarify where the donations would be going. Retton's claim to not have insurance was also doubted by some. Just over a year since the illness left her fighting for her life in a hospital ICU, news of her booze-fueled antics sparked concern as she continues to undergo treatment for long Covid and lung problems. And according to Shaun Kelley, the brother of her ex-husband Shannon, just one drink is capable of causing a chemical imbalance in Mary Lou's brain because of the medications she's currently taking. 'She couldn't even take a full breath when I talked to her, she takes these little panting breaths,' Shaun told The New York Post about his ex-sister-in-law last week, whom he says has no history of alcohol abuse. He also added: 'She is on all these meds and one drink could throw off her brain chemistry.'
