Browns debut atrocious new helmet and jersey combination
Several teams around the NFL have revealed new uniforms over the last several days and weeks. The Buffalo Bills announced the return of the red helmet, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers revealed a white throwback uniform to go with their throwback helmet. The Cleveland Browns joined in on the festivities, but they crashed the party more than they improved it. Cleveland revealed a dark-colored helmet with dual-orange stripes down the center. The uniforms being paired with the helmets look similar to the color rush uniforms the team sported through the late 2010s and early 2020s. Overall, the look is a bad one, and will certainly continue to be mocked by fans. Virginia Tech's STAR (Summation of Tests for the Assessment of Risk) system evaluates helmets based on how well they reduce head acceleration in sports-specific impact scenarios tied to concussion risk. With stricter thresholds, only helmets with exceptional performance now earn the highest 5-star designation. Virginia Tech Helmet Lab only recommends players wear helmets that receive a 5-star or 4-star rating. In the Youth Football Helmet category, the VICIS ZERO2 Youth earned a 5-star rating, placing it in the top tier for impact protection. Multiple Schutt helmets received a 4-star rating, reaffirming the brand's reputation among parents, coaches, and programs seeking elite-level head protection. In the Varsity Football Helmet category, only 11 varsity helmets received 5 stars, including four from Certor Sports, the most of any other brand. Aaron Rodgers Has a Major Complaint about Steelers Practice
PITTSBURGH — Something about Aaron Rodgers looked different at the Pittsburgh Steelers' mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. Sure, he was wearing black and gold in front of the masses for the first time. And, of course, Rodgers looked sharp as he fired spirals around the practice field. But, instead of his customary Schutt Air XP Q11 helmet, Rodgers donned Schutt's F7 Pro helmet as he zipped passes to DK Metcalf, Pat Freiermuth, and Calvin Austin. The lid didn't hug his head the right way. Advertisement 'I can't stand the helmet,' Rodgers said after the Steelers' practice. 'I've worn a Schutt for 20 years. Somehow it finally didn't pass the safety standards.' The Air XP Q11 is one of seven newly prohibited helmets, along with Riddell's Foundation, Speed Icon, Speed, and Revolution Speed Classic models.
