When a family welcomed their new puppy, Lieutenant Ripley, into their home, they believed they were adopting an American Pit Bull Terrier. She was rescued from a shelter specializing in pit bulls, but as the weeks passed and Ripley began to grow at an astonishing rate, her features sparked curiosity and a DNA test—which ultimately revealed an unexpected genetic makeup, shocking viewers in a post to Reddit. In the post, the owner shared their story along with a plethora of photos of the pup. A woman holds her Pitbull close to her. A woman holds her Pitbull close to her."Adopted Lt. Ripley at 15 weeks old from a dedicated Pitbull rescue," they wrote. "They listed her as American Pit Bull Terrier. With her long snout and body type and coloration, we figured she was more hound than anything. I was thinking Plott Hound. Some people were saying Greyhound or Whippet." Their initial guesses proved far from the mark when the DNA results came back: Ripley is a striking 50.8 percent Great Dane and 49.2 percent German Shepherd. The revelation immediately captivated Redditors, who found the mix surprising and fascinating. "Okay that is hilarious. I love her," one user commented. Another added, "That is such a neat mix! I'd guessed Sighthound/[German Shepherd] but I guess the lanky-ness I was seeing was the Dane!" The dog's distinctive ears also provided a clue to some. "It's those ears, OP!" one person wrote, adding, "The 'weird/goofball floppy triangle' on top of the head—like they want to stick up, but have a mind of their own, and may just decide to walk off entirely one day' thing is 100 percent a [German Shepherd] thing!" The owners, who were fully intending to adopt a Pitbull, embraced the surprise with open arms. The decision to adopt a new puppy came at a significant time for the family, as their beloved pit bull/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix had recently passed away from cancer, and they were expecting their first child. "We were hoping [our dog] be here to help raise our son," the owner shared in a comment. "It was a difficult decision to get a new puppy and try to train it in the short amount of time we have, but growing up with a dog is such a beautiful thing." Ripley has already shown incredible progress in her new home. "She has taken to our own training pretty seamlessly and is very intelligent," the owner wrote. Ripley is actively socialized, joining her owner for skateboarding sessions and runs at the local park where she interacts with other dogs. Despite being initially "highly skeptical of other humans," regular park visits have significantly helped her social skills. But ultimately, Ripley's size has become the constant discussion point. She gained "40 pounds in two months and is around 60 pounds now," the owner wrote, leaving them to wonder "how much larger she'll get now that we know her actual breed mix." Despite the initial breed assumption, the family is thrilled with their intelligent and rapidly growing gentle giant. Newsweek reached out to u/pleasedtomichu for comment via Reddit.

Who won last year (and why it was kind of hilarious) In case you forgot, Team Red Bull (Ludwig's own) won the 2024 edition, which obviously led to Twitter/X lighting up with 'rigged' memes. Ludwig even posted: 'Znever dodging the rigged allegations.' Behind them were Team YouTube and Team Podcast, who took silver and bronze, respectively (and eternal bragging rights, probably). Moment woman carries seagull home from night out after finding it outside Wetherspoons… but gets instant karma

THIS is the hilarious moment that one drunken pub-goer took a seagull home and got instant karma. Erin Punton, 22, says she was walking home from a night out when she noticed the seagull outside a Wetherspoons in Northumberland. 5 Feeling more than a little bit tipsy, Erin scooped up the bird and began her journey home. Filming herself on the way, Erin sang her new winged friend a ballad. The video shows her belting Valerie by The Zutons - famously covered by Amy Winehouse - with the bird underneath her arm. Dressed in a pink top and a leather jacket, she can be seen shaking her hair out of her face while continuing to clutch onto the seagull. Throughout the hilarious footage, she puts a variety of filters over the camera - including one moody, vintage effect. Eventually, she staggers into her house and proclaims that the seagull is a 'beauty'. However, she then adds: 'He actually wants to stop in my room and everything but I've got nowhere for him.' Erin has revealed that when she woke up the next morning, the mysterious bird was still there. The 22-year-old said: 'I saw the bird outside Wetherspoons and managed to pick him up without even a thought. 'I don't even know what made me pick him up. 'I put him in my sitting room with a blanket. Royal Mail deliveries AXED in seaside village after terrified posties are forced to take drastic action 'When I woke up in the morning, I'd forgotten and he was just floating around the sitting room. 'I dropped him off at the vets the next day in a box and was told he had bird flu.' Horrified, Erin admitted that she had to 'bleach her whole house' after discovering her new fluffy friend was ill. She says the whole incident has left her feeling 'sick'. The news comes after the 13 seaside towns where feeding seagulls could land you with a fine were revealed. Public health and anti-social behaviour laws, introduced in 2009, were brought in to fight nuisance behavior from gulls. Feeding seagulls can cause an increase in swooping attacks, persistent begging and damage to property. Several towns have also introduced Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) to clamp down on efforts to feed gulls. 5

‘Su From So' movie review: JP Thuminad delivers a refreshing and hilarious horror comedy

Very few films grab your attention from the first frame. In Su From So, after a jumpscare, a death is announced, and the entire village in the coastal Karnataka region gathers for elaborate mourning rituals and a feast that follows it. Debutant director JP Thuminad (the actor who played Deepak in SSE Side B) establishes the backdrop and its people with a gentle song. S Chandrasekaran's cinematography draws you into the picturesque setting. Music is the heartbeat of Su From So, a refreshing horror comedy. Unheralded composer Sumedh K and Sandeep Tulasidas, who has scored the BGM, elevate the several moods with their brilliant work. Director JP Thuminad's generous use of songs to drive the narrative results in an emotional manipulation, albeit in a good way. Su From So (Kannada) Director: JP Thuminad Cast: JP Thuminad, Shaneel Gautham, Sandhya Arakere, Prakash Thuminadu, Deepak Rai Panaje Runtime: 137 minutes Storyline: In a quiet village, everyone's convinced that a youngster is possessed. A series of strange and hilarious events unfold as people try to drive away the ghost. The movie begins with goofy fun, and it helps when you have funny, charming actors such as Shaneel Gautham, Prakash Thuminad, and Deepak Rai Panaje exuding vibrant energy to the narrative with their brilliant comic timing. Actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty, who backed the film under his banner, has great fun essaying a parodical character. The film thankfully, doesn't get reduced to a series of comedic sketches, as the plot kicks in at the right time. It's challenging to discuss the central plot without revealing crucial details. The spoiler-free description of the conflict is that the villagers face a Herculean task to drive away a spirit, named Sulochana, from Someshwara (hence the title), that has possessed a youngster named Ashoka (JP Thuminad). The director derives comedy from a variety of ridiculous reactions and zany situations. He also deploys observational humour, highlighting eccentric characters (like the one played by Pushparaj Bolar) whom you miss without a keen eye. Apart from having plenty of scenes that combine humour with supernatural events, Su From So has standalone comedy sequences to generate the big laughs. JP Thuminad's control over the genre is so strong that we don't mind these scenes, even if they slightly delay the next turn in the story. In the final act, JP Thuminad resists the urge to be specific to a juicy genre, which allows you to go to any lengths to provide the thrills. He instead, treads a unique path, moving deftly moves from serious territory without making us feel the weight of it, and wraps it up as a horror comedy with a big heart. ALSO READ: 'Ekka' movie review: Yuva Rajkumar gives his all to a script that doesn't reward his effort Male characters flood the frames in Su From So. Yet, the film reaches its pinnacle when it tells a stirring tale of a woman (Sandhya Arakere in an affecting performance) fighting patriarchy. The film, which begins with words of high praise for the external beauty of villages, delves deep into its internal filth, the mindset of men who stop women from expressing themselves. This tonal shift is never jarring as Su From So ends on a rousing note, maintaining the assurance of a quality film till the very end. Su From So is currently running in theatres
