Love Island: What Is Double Dutch Language And How Is Angel Swift Fluent In It?
You can't say Love Island isn't educational. On Monday night's episode, new bombshell Angel Swift revealed she can speak Double Dutch language. If, like us, you found yourself wondering what that actually means, look no further. Double Dutch is a fictional language known for sounding incomprehensible to anyone who does not understand its rules or logic. It's a popular way for children and adults to speak to each other in code. After Boris Vidovic told Angel he can speak Slovenian, Croatian, English, Spanish and a bit of German, Angel explained that she can speak the 'made up language'. She wasn't flexing about being bilingual in an official sense, but she did reveal she can speak fluent gibberish – much like most of the boys in the villa. The Double Dutch alphabet is the same as the English one, but the secret language uses extra letters to create words that sound like made up versions of the English ones. W - 'duvagub-buvagle-u-va-gu' So the name 'Mary' would be 'Ma-va-gar-ra-va-ga-ry'. To say 'fine, thank you' would be 'fi-va-gi-ne, th-va-gh-ank y-va-gyou'. If only the girls could speak to each other in Double Dutch to exchange notes about the boys' bad behaviour, especially from the likes of Harrison Solomon, Harry Cooksley and Dejon Noel-Williams, we might have saved a lot of heartache. Love Island's Andrada Pop: 'I'm Going To Break Up A Couple'
Casa Amor wouldn't be Casa Amor without a few bold characters who aren't afraid to rock the boat and go after what they want. This year that includes Andrada Pop, who seems to be turning Dejon Noel-Williams' head while also sparking up a romance with Ben Holbrough, and it's only been a few days. While it's unclear whether Andrada will bag a permanent spot in the main Love Island villa, she has certainly made in a big impression in a short space of time. Here's everything you need to know about her. Andrada Pop is a model and influencer from Dublin, Ireland, who also works as a nail technician and personal trainer. Naturally, as a Love Islander, she was also 2019's winner of Miss Bikini Ireland. She entered the Love Island villa with Emma Munro (who is Harry Cooksley's ex-girlfriend), Rheo Parnell, Yaz Broom, Lucy Quinn and Lauren Wood. 'My first instinct is to turn heads,' she said before entering the Casa Amor villa. 'I am bold and I do want to get what I want, but I also want to find love, so hopefully the person that I do manage to get on with I can build a nice connection with. I want to find "the one". I'm going to come in with a little bit of spice for sure.' Andrada made it clear that she wasn't afraid of stepping on toes before she entered the villa and she's stuck to her word. 'We're all going in there for ourselves and to find somebody, so it's bound to happen that I break up a couple. That's what I have to do and is what I'm going to do.' Before joining the show she continued, 'There are some boys that are being cheeky and doing a madness, but they have to do that and it's nice to see.' Despite saying her type was Tommy before she entered Casa Amor, Andrada has spent most of her time talking to Ben and Dejon. If things continue to heat up between her and Dejon, it will likely lead to an explosive reunion episode with Megan back in the main villa. Yes! Of course she does. You can follow her on Instagram at @andradapop. Just like her contemporaries, Andrada shares regular bikini pictures and holiday snaps on her feed. How Long Does Casa Amor Last On Love Island UK? Season 12's New Twists Explained
There are two words that anyone happy in their couple on Love Island dreads most – Casa Amor. The time when well-established couples, new duos and friendship pairs are all torn apart and forced to spend a few days in the sun with an entirely new group of people. Each year, we see betrayal, back stabbing and bed sharing and watch the chaos unfold when the original islanders are all reunited. This year is no different. Casa Amor has kicked off slightly earlier than usual at a time when no one is 'closed off' or in an actual relationship yet, and everyone claims to be 'open', which means there is bound to be drama. That was all but confirmed in the first hour when Harry Cooksley was reunited with his ex-girlfriend Emma, and she had a lot to say about his time in the vill and his new partnership with Helena Ford. Casa Amor usually lasts for three or four days on the ITV dating show, which means we will likely see the original islanders reunited on Wednesday or Thursday night's episode. It turns out, according to past islanders, those infamous re-coupling scenes are often pre-empted and the islanders get a chance to chat and work out their feelings before filming begins. It also goes without saying that anyone who's last to recouple knows they are in for a shock when their partner walks through the door. So far, we have already seen Harry reunited with his ex-girlfriend Emma (who he once honoured with the big 'E' tattoo on his wrist) just as things were starting to take off again with Helena. Despite not having any intentions of picking up where they left off (apparently), it only took Harry a couple of hours to tell everyone he is more sexually attracted to Emma than Helena in a game of truth or dare. We've also seen resident nice guy Tommy Bradley, who is happily coupled up with Emily Moran, admit that he is 'open' and that he fancies some of the new girls. Then there's Dejon Noel-Williams who repeatedly turns girls down because of his connection with Megan Moore, but can't seem to help himself when someone new starts flirting with him. And, of course, Harrison Solomon, who has messed Toni Laites around more times than we can count, seems hellbent on doing it again. In less than 24 hours, he has made moves on not one but two of the new Casa Amor girls. In Monday night's episode, we can expect to see the new Casa Amor boys enter the main villa to keep the girls company. Will anyone's head be turned? Will someone finally sweep Shakira off her feet? And what will the girls say when they receive their annual 'Casa Amor' post card from the villa down the road? Let's see... Rachel Zegler defends support for Palestine after 'Snow White' controversy
Rachel Zegler is reflecting on the "alarming" "Snow White" backlash and doubling down on her support for Palestine. In an i-D magazine profile, the "West Side Story" actress, 24, defended being outspoken about the Israel-Hamas war after the son of a "Snow White" producer blamed her social media activity for the film performing poorly at the box office. "I can really only echo Hannah Einbinder in saying that a platform becomes a responsibility, and that responsibility is ours to use as we please," Zegler told the outlet. She continued, "My compassion has no boundaries, is really what it is, and my support for one cause does not denounce any others. That's always been at the core of who I am as a person. It's the way I was raised." Zegler acknowledged that "there are obviously things that are at stake by being outspoken" but said that "nothing is worth innocent lives," adding, "My heart doesn't have a fence around it, and if that is considered my downfall? There are worse things." In March, Jonah Platt, son of "Snow White" producer Marc Platt, argued in a since-deleted Instagram comment that Zegler's social media activity "clearly hurt the film's box office." After sharing the trailer for "Snow White" on X in August, Zegler had posted, "and always remember, free palestine." 'Snow White' producer's son slams Rachel Zegler for hurting film with 'politics': Reports Platt said in his comment that his father "had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand" Zegler "for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for." Zegler had also posted that she hopes President Donald Trump and his supporters "never know peace," for which she later apologized. Watch: Rachel Zegler builds 'Snow White' Legos while answering Disney movie trivia "Snow White" performed under expectations at the box office in March, grossing less than $100 million domestically. For comparison, Disney's next live-action remake, "Lilo & Stitch," has grossed nearly $400 million at the domestic box office to date, and the studio's live-action remake of "Cinderella" made more than $200 million domestically in 2015. During the i-D magazine conversation, Zegler said the online backlash she has faced is "really alarming at times" and revealed she has been taking medication for anxiety. But she added, "I think a victim mindset is a choice, and I don't choose it. I also don't choose nastiness in the face of it. I don't choose negativity in the face of it. I choose positivity and light and happiness." Zegler is currently starring in a revival of "Evita" on London's West End, coming off a performance as Juliet in "Romeo + Juliet" on Broadway.
