BMW Drops Impressive 2025 i4 Lease Deal For July
The BMW i4 is an electrified sedan that many consider nearly perfect. For those seeking great range in a fun, sporty four-door sedan, BMW's i4 is hard to overlook. The i4 has enough room to carry a whole family or a group of friends, as well as enough cargo space to bring all the necessities along for the ride. It's a sporty, fun drive with a lot of class inside and out. For July, BMW has some interesting lease offers available for the 2025 i4, which is offered in three trim levels for its latest model year. A 2025 i4 eDrive40 lease is $399 per month, with a down payment of $4,999 due at signing. A 2025 BMW i4 xDrive40 is $429 per month with $5,479 due at signing. The top-end 2025 i4 M50 is $559 per month, with $6,389 due at signing. All lease terms are for 36 months. While BMW doesn't limit its lease offers to any specific area or state, it's recommended to check and ensure your local dealership is participating. All you have to do is visit BMW's lease website and enter your zip code to see if the offer is available in your area. We used zip codes for six major metro areas in the United States and had no problem finding lease offers for a 2025 BMW i4. Reducing the down payment at signing for a 2025 BMW i4 will increase the monthly payment. BMW's lease terms are subject to vehicle availability and dealership participation in leasing vehicles, and dealerships can choose not to alter lease terms, so be sure to ask the dealership if they're able to offer you different lease terms. Typically, putting zero down at lease signing raises a monthly payment by 15-25 percent. Mechanically, the 2025 BMW i4 eDrive40 is equipped with a single electric motor capable of producing 335 horsepower, achieving a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds, and offering a range of 295-318 miles. The 2025 i4 xDrive40 features dual electric motors that produce 396 horsepower, a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds, and a range of 268-287 miles, all while utilizing an all-wheel drive drivetrain. The top-end i4 M50 features the same dual-motor setup as the xDrive40, but increases horsepower to 536, reduces the 0-60 time to 3.7 seconds, and offers a range of 227-267 miles. Outside, the i40 looks like a traditional BMW with an eye toward the future. The familiar kidney grille is there, as is the muscular yet classy roofline and stance of a BMW sedan, which slowly drops into the rear trunk area to complete the pure-sedan aesthetic. Large 18-inch (or larger) wheels complete the look. Inside, a subdued interior greets the driver and passenger with a large, two-display array spanning the dashboard. Replete with BMW Operating System 8.5 and BMW voice assistant, the 2025 i4 delivers information and entertainment without asking you to take your hands off the wheel. BMW ConnectedDrive allows you to link your iPhone or Android phone to your vehicle, and BMW supports both Android Auto and CarPlay. The Comfortable SensaTec seating and a modern two-spoke or three-spoke steering wheel help the interior feel refined and classy, while retaining its appeal as a sports sedan. Quickly supplanting the iconic 5-Series for EV enthusiasts, the BMW i4 leaves little to be desired. It's got plenty of power, tons of comfort, and ample cargo space. As BMW is slowing its EV efforts lately, selection may vary. Be sure to check with a dealership before visiting to lease a new i4. Tesla dares BYD, BMW, Merc in India's luxury lane
After years of wait, Tesla Inc. debuted its best-selling Model Y electric SUV in India, where it will face off against luxury EV makers like BYD, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The arrival of the world's most valuable carmaker may intensify competition in India's luxury EV market but leave domestic EV-makers untouched, experts said. Tesla displayed two variants at its Mumbai experience centre thronged by visitors, journalists and security personnel. Deliveries of the lower model with an ex-showroom price of ₹ 59.9 lakh begin this quarter itself, while the longer-range with rear-wheel drive model priced at ₹ 67.9 lakh will arrive in the December quarter. Though the public and customers were not allowed inside the showroom for the event which was restricted to select media, dozens of enthusiasts crowded outside in the morning downpour, peering through glass walls and capturing photos. A Tesla employee based abroad expressed surprise at the unprecedented media turnout for at the showroom, which opens to customers on Wednesday. 'We are here to create the ecosystem to invest in the necessary infrastructure,' Tesla senior director Isabelle Fan told reporters. 'It will take some time to cover the whole country, but we're going to start with Delhi, Gurugram and Mumbai.' Tesla said it will set up four charging stations each in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. Early customers also get a free wall charger for home. For Musk, the world's richest man, Tesla is the first of his several businesses to open shop in India. His satellite broadband business Starlink has received government approvals for launch, and is waiting for spectrum. In India, the Model Y will take on BYD's Sealion 7, BMW's iX1 and Mercedes-Benz EQA. 'With their pricing, Tesla is competing with the iX1 as well as i4 from BMW and BYD's Sealion7. Choices for customers will increase in that segment and hopefully the segment will grow and EV penetration increase in that price bracket,' said Subhabrata Sengupta, a partner at Avalon Consulting. India clocked sales of 107,645 electric passenger vehicles in FY25, up 18% from the previous year. While the number of electric luxury car sales remains small, BYD recorded a 90% jump in sales to 3,401, while Mercedes doubled sales to 1,133 units, according to Federation of Automobile Dealership Associations. BMW recorded a 9% increase in electric car sales to 1,550 units. When a brand like Tesla arrives, it tends to boost the entire segment by drawing curious customers to showrooms, said Puneet Gupta, director at market intelligence firm S&P Global Mobility. 'Due to its premium pricing, Tesla will mainly compete with brands like BMW and Mercedes. With the strength of its brand , technology and the excitement surrounding its entry, the company is likely to see increased interest as consumers look to experience something new and something which is global.' However, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Hyundai and MG Motors may be unscathed as their vehicles are available in the lower price ranges. 'I am confident that in the coming days, Tesla's entire ecosystem will be seen in India and Maharashtra,' chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said at the launch event, also attended by state transport minister Pratap Sarnaik. For years, Tesla delayed its India entry citing high tariffs. In its March quarter earnings call, chief financial officer Vaibhav Taneja called India a very hard market due to the tariff regime. "And especially under the current tariff structure in India, any car we send in is subject to a 70% import duty, plus a 30% luxury tax. So, the same car becomes 100% more expensive than what we sell it for elsewhere," Taneja had said. With India negotiating trade deals with the US and Europe, the company would be keeping an eye on whether there is any relief on tariffs for cars, which can significantly reduce prices of its cars. Tesla manufactures its cars in the US, China and Germany. According to a Bloomberg report, cars sold in India will be shipped from its factory in Shanghai, China.

BMW Recalls Four EV Models for Potential Loss of Drive Power
BMW is recalling over 70,000 EVs from 2022–2025 model years because of a software issue that can cause a loss of power while driving. The recall includes 35,414 units of the i4, 25,280 units of the iX, 5484 units of the i7, and 4674 units of the i5. BMW will fix the software either at an authorized dealership or via an over-the-air update. Several electric BMW models are being recalled due to an error with the software for the electric motor that can cause the cars to lose power, including while the car is in motion. Over 70,000 vehicles are included in the recall, according to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). James Lipman | Car and Driver The model with the highest number of affected vehicles is the BMW i4, with 35,414 units built from the 2022 to 2025 model years included in the recall. The BMW iX SUV is next, with 25,280 units included from the 2022 to 2024 model years, and 5484 BMW i7 sedans are involved from the 2023 and 2024 model years. Lastly, 4674 units of the 2024 BMW i5 sedan are included. The NHTSA report estimates 0.1 percent of vehicles are affected. This content is imported from Third party. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site. According to the NHTSA documents, the electric motor software "may erroneously cause a shutdown of the high-voltage system," in turn causing the vehicle to lose power. The unwanted action comes as a result of the software mistakenly identifying a "double-isolation condition," leading it to display a red warning message and warning symbol on the dashboard screens around 15 to 20 seconds before cutting power. While NHTSA notes that power steering and braking are unaffected by the shutdown of the high-voltage system, it does state that if this shutdown happens while driving, it could increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says vehicle assembly information and supplier production records were consulted to determine the dates of vehicles that might be affected. BMW The investigation began after a series of warranty claims in 2021 and 2022 associated with the electric drive motor. Following further investigations in 2023 and 2024, "the analyses suggested that vehicle software could not determine, whether a detected double-isolation condition was, in fact, a true double-isolation condition, which warranted a high-voltage system shutdown or, was, in fact, only a single-isolation condition," according to the NHTSA documents. To prevent the risk of electric shock, the software then turned off the high-voltage system. BMW decided to begin a voluntary safety recall on June 6. The automaker says it believes it has received around 43 warranty claims involving the shutdown of the drive motors at speeds over 20 mph. BMW received no reports of accidents or injuries caused by this problem. BMW will update the software for the electric motor for affected vehicles, either at dealerships or via an over-the-air update. Owners will be contacted by mail by August 5 and instructed to take their vehicle to a BMW dealer, with the option to perform the update over the air instead. In the meantime, owners can check the NHTSA recalls website to see if their vehicle is included in the recall. BMW Recalls Vast Swath of Its Current EVs to Address Sudden Power Loss
The latest car news, reviews, and features. BMW is recalling vehicles across its entire lineup of current-generation EVs in order to address a software glitch that can cause their drive motors to shut off unexpectedly. The company's recall notification emphasized the fact that the glitch only impacts the drive motor itself, leaving the car's braking and steering system operational despite the loss of power. The recall campaign covers the 2022-2024 BMW i4, the 2025 i4 EDrive35 and EDrive40, the 2024 i5, the 2023-2024 i7 and the 2022-2024 iX. Altogether, the pool comprises nearly 71,000 sedans and SUVs. After identifying approximately 40 potential issues via previous warranty claims, BMW says the likely number of EVs on the road exhibiting a fault is less than 1%. 'In certain vehicle production configurations, the software may erroneously detect a double-isolation condition. As a fail-safe measure, this will cause a shutdown of the high-voltage system approximately 15-20 seconds after a warning message is displayed,' BMW's recall notice said. 'Power assisted steering and braking are not affected,' it continued. BMW BMW says it was first alerted to the issue in 2021, but instances were so rare that its engineers were unable to isolate the cause. After more examples accumulated, BMW traced the issue to a fail-safe measure designed to protect against potential electrical shorts originating from the high-voltage system—the sort of gremlin that could cause damage to major components, injure occupants, or even start a fire. Per BMW's chronology, the fail-safe was likely being triggered by phantom electrical faults; while the company did not positively identify their source, the new software's fail-safe mode should not trigger at random.
