iPad Pro M5 tipped for upcoming launch as Apple begins production on OLED displays
It appears that both Samsung and LG have started mass production of OLED displays for the M5 iPad Pro, which looks to confirm the rumored October release date. It appears that both Samsung and LG will produce both sizes of display, according to a report from ZDNet Korea (via MacRumors.) The last generation of OLED iPad Pros saw Samsung produce the 11-inch OLED display, while LG produced the 13-inch display. This change is likely to help Apple diversify its suppliers, which would help with the rumored launch of the 2026 iPad Mini and the 2027 iPad Air with OLED panels. This isn't the only news we've seen that indicates that Apple is preparing to release the tablet later this year. For instance, Mark Gurman claimed that the iPad Pro had entered the advanced testing phase back in March. Not only that, we saw a report that stated Apple was starting the mass production of the M5 chip back in February. If these are accurate, then it suggests that the tablet is essentially ready to be released to the public. Aside from the OLED panels, we haven't seen many reports about significant updates for the new iPad Pro, with Gurman suggesting we'll have to wait until next year for those. However, the M5 chip is expected to offer improved graphics and an enhanced Neural Engine, which would be a big benefit to Apple Intelligence. Due to reported delays to Apple's 2nm process work, we're expecting the M5 will be made on the same 3nm process as the M4 and M3 chips. But Apple not using an advanced chip-manufacturing method shouldn't impact the chances of the next iPad Pro making our best iPads list too much. The M5 chip isn't just for the iPad Pro, as we're also expecting a revised MacBook Pro to launch with the M5 chip around the same time. But for OLED fans, unfortunately we're hearing that the rumored MacBook OLED display overhaul likely won't appear until 2026. When it does release, we'd expect to see a pretty impressive visual improvement, alongside longer battery life, as we've seen with the OLED iPad Pro. Amazon reportedly developing a foldable tablet that could launch as early as next year
Huawei's new MateBook Fold laptop surprised, and it's got people around the tech world talking. Here in the United States, people are looking at Apple and its long-rumored folding iPad or MacBook. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo put in his two cents today (May 20), saying that Apple's competition "may not be limited to Huawei." He claimed that his "research indicates" that Amazon is developing a "similar product," though he says that it hasn't officially "kicked off" yet. Kuo says that if no delays hit the project, it should go into mass production in 2026 or 2027. In comparison, Apple's much-rumored 18.8-inch foldable tablet/note PC/monitor is supposed to go into production in 2027 or 2028. Display analyst Ross Young hopped into the X thread saying he's known about a "foldable Amazon tablet for some time." Kuo responded, saying that Amazon has been researching it for a while. You rarely get two leakers directly agreeing with one another about a potential future product. We don't have any other details about what kind of device Amazon might be making beyond a tablet. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claimed it would look like "two iPad Pros side-by-side." Huawei's MateBook Fold features a 13-inch screen in laptop mode. It has two virtual screens and a built-in soft keyboard. Crazily, it's not cheap, costing 23,999 yuan (about $3,330) for the base model, which features 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Those are eye-popping numbers even for Apple products. It could be argued that the Huawei XT Mate triple-folding phone is just the company's attempt to be first, and the price doesn't really matter. Meanwhile, 2027 looks like the year of the foldable as Apple finally joins the fray against whatever Samsung is doing by then, and potentially Amazon will throw its hat into the ring.

Apple foldable with 18.8-inch display might launch with an Amazon rival
Over the past few months, one of the more intriguing Apple-related leaks has revolved around the company's ongoing development of foldable devices. Not only is Apple rumoured to launch its first-ever foldable phone with a 7.8-inch internal display in 2026, but the company is also said to be working on a massive 18.8-inch foldable iPad or laptop — or whatever Apple eventually decides to market it as when the product finally the latest development, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that Amazon is also internally testing a similar large-screen device.
