iQIYI partners with Telkomsel to expand Indonesian presence as part of a strategic move to expand in South-East Asia

JAKARTA: "iQIYI Starship Project" officially commenced at a strategic launch event in Jakarta, Indonesia, where iQIYI announced its partnership with Indonesia's leading telecom provider, Telkomsel. This collaboration focuses on bundled mobile services, joint content production, user promotions, and technical support. Additionally, iQIYI officially launched its Indonesian platform, dedicated to delivering localized Chinese and international content, developing original local programming, and enhancing services specifically for Indonesian viewers. According to Li Kaichen (KC Li), Vice President of APAC & Middle East at iQIYI International: 'As a streaming platform boasting over 520 million monthly active users, iQIYI is thrilled to enter the Indonesian market this year. Our local team will provide richer and more tailored content experiences for Indonesian viewers. "Together with Telkomsel, we are committed to deepening collaboration in mobile products, content creation, and integrated marketing. Furthermore, this year marks the Indonesian debut of the 'iQIYI Starship Project,' which will host international launch events, drama promotions, and membership activities featuring popular Chinese artists, further strengthening cultural exchange and enhancing our brand's global influence.' Ahead of launching the Indonesian platform, iQIYI conducted comprehensive research into local user preferences and completed full localisation of content into Bahasa Indonesia. In collaboration with Telkomsel, iQIYI will leverage the telecom giant's extensive network and advanced digital services to optimize viewing experiences and ensure seamless content delivery tailored to the local network environment. 'Besides our collaboration with Telkomsel on network stability and attractive service packages, iQIYI independently plans to work closely with prominent local content producers to create original Indonesian series and shows for global distribution. ENTHUSIASTIC fans went wild in a meet and greet session with C-Drama star Chen Zheyuan in his first overseas appearance as iQIYI Global Ambassador at Sphere Gallery, Emsphere, Bangkok, Thailand. On June 29, the "iQIYI Starship Project" successfully hosted the event, which also drew local media and VIP members. Marking Chen Zheyuan's first overseas appearance, it was another significant event under the iQIYI Starship Project, aiming to enhance the international presence of Chinese entertainment content. The large and enthusiastic audience highlighted Chen's notable popularity in Thailand. During the interview session, Chen expressed excitement and happiness about becoming the iQIYI International Global Ambassador. Having visited Thailand multiple times previously, he emphasised his affection for the country and specifically thanked iQIYI for their thoughtful arrangements, allowing him to closely interact with local fans. Chen recalled his past visits to Thailand, from being relatively unknown during his early filming visits to later gaining recognition by locals, who even used his images as their phone wallpapers, deepening his connection with Thailand. Chen also shared his honour at the widespread acclaim his works have received in Thailand, emphasising that quality storytelling and genuine emotions transcend language and cultural barriers.
