BTS' V logs 200m views with ‘Singularity' music video

V of BTS surpassed 200 million views on YouTube with the music video for his solo song 'Singularity,' according to label Big Hit Music on Wednesday. The R&B tune is the intro track from the band's third full album 'Love Yourself: Tear' from 2018. With his soulful vocals over a jazzy melody, it has become one of his signature solo works. It was the only K-pop entry on the annual best songs list published by The New York Times and The Guardian, and was one of the ten best songs of 2018 chosen by The Los Angeles Times. The single exceeded 300 million plays on Spotify in May and has topped the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 47 regions. Separately, V, along with RM and Jungkook, did a livestream with fans on Tuesday. The bandmates have been working on a new album in the US since early July.

EXO's D.O. tops iTunes chart in 20 regions with 1st solo LP

Doh Kyungsoo, also known as D.O. of EXO, claimed the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Top Albums Chart in 20 regions with his first solo full album, his agency Company Soosoo said Tuesday. He rolled out the 10-track LP 'Bliss' on Monday and focus track 'Sing Along!' topped the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 10 regions. The singer co-wrote the words for the lead single written and produced by fellow musician and close friend Zico. On July 19-20, he will host a live show in Seoul before he begins touring Asia. He is set to visit Bangkok, Taipei, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Macao and go live twice in Tokyo in late October. Later this year, the singer and actor will appear in Disney Plus series 'The Manipulated,' a drama adaptation of 2017 movie 'Fabricated City.'

Stray Kids to sing for Japanese movie

Stray Kids rolled out their third EP in Japan on Wednesday, and a B-side track from the set was chosen as the theme song for a movie, according to label JYP Entertainment. The eight-piece act released the EP 'Hollow,' which is made up of five tracks, all co-written by the songwriting trio of Bang Chan, Changbin and Han. The new mini album is its first Japanese set with all original songs. A B-side track from the EP, 'Parade,' was selected as the theme song for the film 'Re/member: The Last Night,' a horror movie set to premiere in September. Last week, the band dropped the album's title track in advance, and the single topped the iTunes Top Songs Chart in eight regions as well as a series of music charts in Japan. It was unveiled first in May at the group's concert in Shizuoka.

He shared a picture of the plaque he received from the platform in recognition of the feat, achieved in December last year, along with the caption, 'Thank you so much for your support, Army,' marked with a purple heart. The artist joined the Billions Club with solo single 'Love Me Again,' a prerelease from his first solo album, 'Layover,' and is the first K-pop B-side track to hit the mark. The R&B tune certified gold in US in February logging half a million unit sales. It hit Billboard's Hot 100 at No. 96 and topped iTunes Top Songs Chart in 102 regions.

BTS' Jimin garners 300m Spotify streams with ‘Serendipity'

Jimin of BTS amassed 300 million streams on Spotify with his solo single 'Serendipity' as of last week. It is his seventh solo endeavor to reach the milestone. 'Serendipity' is part of the band's repackaged 'Love Yourself: Answer' album from 2018. The single topped the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 80 regions and earned gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Before unveiling the full-length single, an intro version of the R&B serenade was included in the band's fifth EP 'Love Yourself: Her,' released in 2017. The accompanying music video, which served as a trailer for the septet's mini album, surpassed 100 million views on YouTube in 2019, becoming the band's 19th video to hit the milestone. The video was the first featuring a single member to do so.
