TMKOC's Jethalal aka Dilip Joshi says he misses Dayaben aka Disha Vakani a lot: ‘Our chemistry was quite good from day one'
The Asit Kumar Modi-backed Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completed 17 years today. To mark the occasion, the show's team gathered at an event in Mumbai. During the celebration, Asit Modi shared an update on the casting of Dayaben, while Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal, fondly remembered Disha Vakani. Disha's on-screen and real-life brother Mayur Vakani, known for his role as Sundarlal, also grew emotional as he spoke about missing his sister on the show. Getting emotional remembering Disha as Dayaben, Mayur said, 'I've been performing with my sister in theatre since our childhood, so I'm grateful to Asit sir for allowing that journey to continue. How often does one get the chance to share such a long journey with their sister? Today, she is not a part of the show. But we have all enjoyed working with Disha a lot. The audience gave us immense love. Today, I am thankful to you all. I miss my sister.' When SCREEN asked Dilip Joshi if he also misses his Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah co-star Disha Vakani, who played Dayaben, Dilip said, 'We have worked from 2008 to 2017, so I definitely miss her. It was a long time, and we did some iconic scenes together. Both of us are from a theatre background, so our chemistry was quite good since day one. Personally, as a co-actor, I definitely miss her a lot, because the scenes were very enjoyable with her.' On the delay in casting for Dayaben and finding Disha's replacement, producer Asit Kumar Modi said, 'Of course, Dayaben not being there is a huge challenge. Disha set a benchmark for that character with the way she has performed. Finding someone like her is very difficult. I don't know what is God's will, but I hope to find someone soon and bring Dayaben back. I sincerely wish for Disha only to return, but due to personal reasons, she cannot. But even without Daya, my team has supported me, especially Jethalal and Baapuji. The set was always very lively with Daya, and they kept that belief going for 8 years. I have been telling the audience time and again that we will bring Daya, but issues keep arising. Finding a good replacement is also tough because a very strong image of hers is etched in people's minds. But I shall soon overcome this challenge with your love and support.' Bigg Boss 19 to be run by housemates this year, house for the Salman Khan-hosted show to be ready by August 20
Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 19 has begun to take shape already. The actor reportedly shot for the show's promo on Monday, and contestants are still being locked. According to a few media reports, 45 people have been approached for the show this year. Salman Khan will host this season for three months and then return for the grand finale. The remaining two months will have multiple hosts running the show. Now, a source informs us that Salman is likely to shoot for the show's premiere on the 27th and 28th of August, and on the 29th of August, the contestants' performances and solo acts will be recorded, after which they will enter the house. As reported earlier, Bigg Boss 19's theme is to rewind, where the housemates will play a crucial role in evictions, and the audience will choose who to nominate. However, a theme is yet to be zeroed down on; a fanpage recently shared that Bigg Boss makers will opt for a theme that is heavily influenced by AI. However, a source has recently informed us that there is one big change in the show's format this year. 'This time it won't be 'Bigg Boss chahte hai', it will rather be 'Bigg Boss janna chahte hai'. Stunt artist Mohanraj dies of heart attack after car stunt goes wrong on sets of Pa Ranjith's Vettuvam
Stunt artist Mohanraj has passed away after suffering a heart attack while performing a car stunt for the film Vettuvam in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu. According to reports, Mohanraj suffered the fatal heart attack after a car stunt went wrong on Sunday, July 13. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The clip shows Mohanraj performing a car-toppling stunt, but the car lost balance and went off the ramp, turning several times mid-air before landing on its front end. The crew of the film only realised the seriousness of the accident a couple of minutes later and rushed towards the car. They found Mohanraj severely injured. After Armaan Malik reveals ex-girlfriend broke up because of his ‘Muslim background', father Daboo Malik assures he's ‘always there'
Earlier this year, singer Armaan Malik revealed he's severed ties with his parents — veteran music composer Daboo Malik and Jyoti Malik. Weeks after that, Armaan's elder brother and composer Amaal Mallik also followed suit. He claimed while his bond with Armaan is 'stronger than ever,' he blamed their parents for creating a gap between the two brothers. Now, Daboo has reached out to Armaan on Instagram after the latter opened up on issues he's faced in his love life in the past. He claimed that an ex-girlfriend had dumped him because of his 'Muslim background,' although he maintains 'there is not even I of Islam in me.' She'd even asked Armaan to gatecrash her wedding. Daboo Malik commented on SCREEN's Instagram post detailing these revelations by Armaan. Recently, the show's project head, Abhishek Mukherjee, spoke about his most challenging experiences in his 17-year-long association with the show. This includes the moment when a contestant locked herself in the washroom and threatened suicide. He said, 'I was always particular about pushing human emotions only to an extent that is needed. Sometimes when you cross that line, things can get out of hand. We never cross that line, but in one of the regional languages, one popular actress had a breakup outside, and that's why she entered the show. It was a bad breakup, and soon she fell in love with someone in the house. However, that guy cheated on her during the show. When she found out, one of the nights in Lonavala at around 3 am, she tried to commit suicide. She had forgotten that she was on the show.' A post shared by SCREEN (@ieentertainment) Recalling how the woman felt cheated, he said, 'The guy was only doing the love angle for TV, and the girl couldn't gauge that. When she found out, she threatened suicide. We got the call and ran to the set. Luckily, we have a psychiatrist on board always, and he is available on call 24X7, so he was called. But we had to buy time till the psychiatrist reached Lonavala from Mumbai, so we kept talking to the girl from 3:30 to 6:45 am till the psychiatrist reached,' Abhsihek Mukherjee added. Later, that contestant was evicted from Bigg Boss on medical grounds.
