Kelantan to tighten shariah law against LGBT
Kelantan deputy menteri besar Fadzli Hassan said LGBT practices are a clear transgression of human nature, which undermines morals and social harmony. (AFP pic) KOTA BHARU : The Kelantan government said it remains committed to strengthening and amending the Syariah Criminal Code (I) Enactment 2019 (EKJS) to enhance its effectiveness in curbing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) practices and immoral activities. Deputy menteri besar Fadzli Hassan said despite previous legal challenges, the state government was determined to enhance the law and its enforcement. 'EKJS 2019 was introduced to address shariah offences including sodomy, musahaqah (same-sex relations between women) and other immoral acts that defile the sanctity of religious life. 'The state does not recognise deviant cultures that go against Islamic teachings. LGBT practices are a clear transgression of human nature, which undermines morals and social harmony,' he said in a statement on Facebook today. To boost prevention and enforcement, the state has formed a special committee involving the police, the Kelantan Islamic religious affairs department, the Kelantan health department, the Kelantan Islamic Foundation, the social welfare department and the National Anti-Drugs Agency. The committee is responsible for coordinating comprehensive and inter-agency efforts to address moral decay and deviant behaviour. Fadzli said the state government had implemented the Rabbani Community Culture Programme to enhance Islamic understanding, engage with at-risk communities, and build resilience against the spread of social ills. He called on the federal government, particularly the communications ministry and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, to restrict access to online platforms that promote immoral content. 'The digital space must not be left unregulated and allowed to corrupt the minds and morals of society, especially the younger generation,' he said. Earlier today, Kelantan police confirmed a raid on an LGBT-related gathering involving over 20 local men at a bungalow on Jalan Kemumin here in mid-June. During the operation, authorities found hundreds of condoms and several boxes of HIV medication in a specially designated room believed to be used by the organisers for storage.

KOTA BHARU, July 17 — The Kelantan government remains committed to strengthening and amending the Syariah Criminal Code (I) Enactment 2019 (EKJS) to enhance its effectiveness in curbing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) practices and immoral activities. Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said that despite past legal challenges, the state government is determined to enhance the law and its enforcement. 'EKJS 2019 was introduced to address syariah offences including sodomy, musahaqah (same-sex relations between women) and other immoral acts that defile the sanctity of religious life. 'The state does not recognise deviant cultures that go against Islamic teachings. LGBT practices are a clear transgression of human nature, which undermines morals and social harmony,' he said in a statement published on his official Facebook page today. To boost prevention and enforcement, the state has formed a special committee involving the Royal Malaysia Police, the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department, the Kelantan Health Department, the Kelantan Islamic Foundation, the Social Welfare Department and the National Anti-Drugs Agency. The committee is responsible for coordinating comprehensive and inter-agency efforts to address moral decay and deviant behaviours that are increasingly visible in society, he added. Police to summon all attendees of ‘immoral' eHati marriage programme amid probe
SHAH ALAM, July 14 — Police will summon all participants of a controversial eHati marriage programme, alleged to have involved immoral activities, to record their statements as part of an ongoing investigation. Selangor police chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said that the action falls under Section 122 of the Criminal Procedure Code, following the opening of a police inquiry into the matter. 'Further investigations have led to the case being classified under Sections 294 and 509 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act,' he said, in a statement, today. 'A thorough investigation will be carried out to determine the presence of any obscene elements or teachings, which deviate from societal norms, as alleged. Hussein added that the probe would be conducted comprehensively, to ensure all aspects and allegations are assessed fairly and objectively. He also advised the public to be more cautious and discerning before participating in any programme, activity, or workshop, especially those with unclear objectives, or organisers with questionable backgrounds. 'The public is encouraged to verify and seek clarification beforehand, to avoid being involved in activities which may contravene the law or societal moral values,' he said. Two days ago, Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, reportedly urged the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to investigate allegations of immoral activities at a family motivation programme, held at a convention centre in the state. Amirudin stressed that the matter should be taken seriously, and that firm action must be taken if the allegations are found to be true, following a thorough investigation. — Bernama

Cops probe allegations of immoral activities at Shah Alam motivation programme
Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the complaint was filed in February by the husband of a participant in the programme. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Police have launched an investigation into allegations of immoral activities during a household motivation programme at a convention centre in Shah Alam last September. Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the complaint was filed by the husband of one of the participants in February, Bernama reported. 'We summoned the complainant's wife along with others who were present at the event to record their statements today. 'We also invited the Selangor Islamic religious department (Jais) to attend today's proceedings,' he was quoted as saying. He urged anyone with information to contact the Shah Alam police headquarters or investigating officer Anuar Amilah at 019-2255597. Islamic development department (Jakim) director-general Sirajuddin Suhaimee yesterday said Jakim will investigate the programme as it was linked to acts of idolatry (syirik) and immoral rituals. Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said today that while the event had no connection with the state government, he was concerned about the allegations. 'We need to conduct a comprehensive investigation and take strict action against anyone involved,' he said in a Berita Harian report. The motivational event, aimed at a Malay audience, involved about 50 female participants and was held at Shah Alam from Sept 27 to 30 last year. It gained public attention after a Facebook user claimed that troubling events occurred on the final day. According to the netizen, the session took a disturbing turn when a female speaker entered wearing a bikini, proceeded to strip naked and began dancing with members of her group. They then allegedly encouraged participants to follow suit, removing their clothes after being given a mysterious drink. The participants were also reportedly instructed to take part in rituals described as a 'sacred bath' and 'rebirth'.
