Edinburgh police swarm high street in late-night emergency incident
Police in Edinburgh raced to an incident on Thursday with a huge emergency response in the area. Around 9.30pm on June 26, officers swarmed Portobello High Street and a number of police vehicles were at the scene. Worried locals claim cops were "questioning some men" on the street. It's also not known if anybody was injured. In pictures taken from the scene, five police cars are blocking a junction. Three officers are in discussion by a police van. One concerned resident said: "Big police presence on Portobello High Street. Police were questioning some men apparently. "By the looks of the photo, it's literally 30 yards along from the police station on Portobello Road." Police Scotland have been approached for comment. Police close road near busy roundabout after incident
Police closed a road in Bridgend in the early hours of Friday morning after an incident. It happened around 5.25am on the A473 Pencoed roundabout towards Llanharan. The road was closed in both directions between the roundabout and the road to Llanharan, and officers warned it would be closed for "some time". They advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Traffic monitoring service Inrix has since reported the accident was cleared by 6.13am. Ambulance operator Hato Hone St John said it was called to an incident on High Street about 10:15am and took one patient to Auckland City Hospital. No other details were yet known. More to come.

Man (50s) dies after fatal incident at residence in Co Dublin
A man in his 50s died following an incident in Balgaddy, Co Dublin, on Wednesday night. The man was injured in the incident at a residence in Foxdene Drive, Balgaddy, Co Dublin, shortly after 11pm yesterday. Advertisement He was taken to Tallaght University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course, and the local coroner has been informed. The scene remains preserved on Thursday morning for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The investigation is being led by a senior investigating officer at Lucan Garda Station, and gardaí are investigating all circumstances around the man's death. The force have appealed to anyone who was in the vicinity of Foxdene Drive between 11pm and 12am and observed any activity which drew their attention to come forward. Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash cam, and were in the area at the time are asked to make the footage available to investigating gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lucan Garda Station on (01) 6667300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station. Investigations are ongoing.
