Man, 52, charged with indecent exposure near Elmwood playground, wading pool

A 52-year-old man has been charged after police received reports a person exposed himself near a playground and wading pool area in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood earlier this week. Winnipeg police were called to a community centre on Brazier Street, east of Henderson Highway, around 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday with a report the man had exposed himself. Officers arrived and arrested the 52-year-old, police said in a news release Friday. They learned the man was wanted on three other outstanding warrants. He has been charged with committing an indecent act, as well as charges of failing to comply with an appearance notice, failure to comply with an undertaking and failing to keep the peace. A spokesperson for Winnipeg police told CBC News the man was also charged in 2024 with indecent exposure and voyeurism. Those charges are pending, police said. Meanwhile, at least one of the warrants is related to charges that have since been stayed, police said. The man remains in custody. More from CBC News Manitoba:

Man accused of indecent act on flight to Brisbane A Fijian man has been charged after allegedly exposing himself on a flight to women sitting in the same row as him. Australian Federal Police said the alleged incident happened during a flight from Melbourne to Brisbane on the morning of June 1. The two women did not know the man and were moved to different seats after they raised the alarm. He was monitored by cabin crew for the rest of the flight before being escorted off the plane by law enforcement. Other passengers and crew were also spoken to as part of the investigation. The man, 30, was charged with one count of indecent exposure, which has a maximum penalty of one year in prison. There is no excuse for offensive behaviour particularly on a flight where passengers are confined to limited spaces, AFP Detective Superintendent Anthony Conway said. "Indecent conduct on a plane will not be tolerated," he said. "The AFP will take action against individuals who engage in this kind of criminal behaviour." The man will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday. Compensation sought for millions of Qantas customers A fresh bid has been launched to seek compensation on behalf of the millions of Qantas customers whose data was exposed in a major data breach. Nearly six million customers had their personal information compromised by the breach on June 30. Maurice Blackburn has lodged a complaint with the Office of the Australian Commissioner (OAIC) on behalf of impacted individuals. It alleges that Qantas failed to take reasonable steps to protect personal information. The Qantas hack occurred in Manila at one of the airline's call centres, with a cyber criminal gaining access to a third party customer servicing platform. The data of 5.7 million customers was on that system. Maurice Blackburn principal lawyer Elizabeth O'Shea said the official complaint was lodged late yesterday with the OAIC, the authority charged with taking action over breaches of the Privacy Act. 'While we await a response and potential action from the OAIC in relation to Qantas failing to adequately protect the personal information of its customers, we would encourage Qantas customers who were impacted by the breach to register with us to receive updates about the representative complaint and compensation which may be sought on your behalf,' she said. Man charged over alleged indecent exposure on flight

A man will face court today for allegedly indecently exposing himself to two female passengers on a domestic flight. The Fijian national was travelling on a Melbourne to Brisbane flight on June 1 when police allege he indecently exposed himself to two women seated in the same row as him during the flight. The passengers, who did not know the man, reported the alleged behaviour to airline staff and were subsequently moved to different seats. Airline staff then monitored the man for the remainder of the flight. The Australian Federal Police were called to Brisbane Airport following a request for assistance and escorted the man from the plane when it landed. The AFP spoke to the man and other passengers and crew. Following the investigation they then charged the male passenger with one count of indecent exposure. The maximum penalty for this offence is 12 months' imprisonment. AFP Detective Superintendent Anthony Conway said there was no excuse for offensive behaviour in any situation, especially on a flight where passengers were confined in a limited space. 'Indecent conduct on a plane will not be tolerated, and the AFP will take action against individuals who engage in this kind of criminal behaviour,' Mr Conway said. The man is due to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today 18 July, 2025.
