Major crime detectives investigating after man seriously injured in Victoria

Victoria firefighters called police shortly after 9:30 a.m. Sunday to report that a man with a weapon was threatening firefighters and preventing them from entering the building to attend to a 'potential fire,' the Victoria Police Department said in a statement. Officers arrived and arrested the man. Another man was found suffering from serious injuries inside the building in the 700 block of Queens Avenue, police said. The injured man was transported to hospital and police are investigating the incident. Authorities have not released any details about the nature of the man's injuries, the weapon the suspect was wielding or whether any charges are being pursued. 'Further details are not available at this time,' the statement concluded. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Victoria Police Department.
