Braves Receive Chris Sale Injury Update on Wednesday
Braves Receive Chris Sale Injury Update on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Left-handed starting pitcher Chris Sale is in his 15th MLB season after debuting with the Chicago White Sox in 2010. The 36-year-old veteran began his first two years in the big-leagues as a reliever but transitioned to a starter in 2012. Over his first seven years as a starter—splitting time between the White Sox and the Boston Red Sox, who acquired him in a 2016 trade—Sale established himself as one of baseball's most consistent arms. From 2012 through 2018, he made the All-Star team each season and finished in the top six of Cy Young voting every year. After battling injuries and starting just 31 games over his final four years in Boston, Sale was traded to the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed a career revival, winning his first Cy Young Award. Sale carried that momentum into 2025 until he suffered a fractured left rib cage while making a diving play against the New York Mets. He landed on the 15-day injured list on June 21 and was moved to the 60-day IL on July 1. On Wednesday, the Braves received an update that Sale played catch yesterday—a promising step in his recovery, even though he won't be eligible to return until after August 19. Over his two seasons in Atlanta, Sale has posted a 2.43 ERA, 339 strikeouts, and a 23–7 record in 44 starts. Decimated by injuries, the Braves have struggled in 2025, sitting at 42–53 and 9.5 games out of a wild-card berth. If Atlanta falls further out of contention, there may be little reason to rush Sale back into the rotation. After being brought down by Gianluigi Donnarumma in the PSG vs Bayern match, many wondered if the injury was severe. Advertisement By the looks of both PSG and Bayern players around Musiala, many believed the player would be missing the entirety of next season. Bayern Munich confirmed that Musiala suffered a fractured fibula as a result of an ankle dislocation. BILD reported that the injury could leave him out for around four to five months, which is less than what many fans expected. The German club has announced an update on the German star who is set to start his recovery. Bayern Munich on Jamal Musiala's injury Bayern Munich published a brief statement in regards to Jamal Musiala's injury. After announcing that the player suffered a fractured fibula, the club also informed that the player would require surgery. The club announced that Musiala has undergone a successful surgery. Bayern Munich: "Jamal Musiala has undergone successful surgery after returning from the Club World Cup in the USA. In the quarter-final between FC Bayern and Paris St. Germain, the 22-year-old attacking player suffered a fractured fibula as a result of a broken and dislocated ankle and was substituted at half-time. He will begin his first rehabilitation sessions tomorrow, Tuesday, and will be unavailable to the German record champions for the next few months." Advertisement BILD reported that Musiala flew back to Munich separately from the rest of the team. Bayern reportedly ordered a private air ambulance for a quick return. Musiala is expected to return fully fit around December or January 2026. Donnarumma faced backlash over Musiala's injury After the PSG vs Bayern game this past weekend, many criticized Donnarumma for his challenge on Musiala, which caused the injury. Manuel Neuer revealed his frustration with the Italian goalkeeper and explained what he said to him after the game. Manuel Neuer: "It was a situation where you don't have to go in like that. That's risk-taking. He [Donnarumma] was prepared to accept the risk of injuring his opponent. I went to him and said, 'Don't you want to go and see our player?' It's a matter of respect, of going there and wishing the guy all the best. He then did it. Fairplay is always a part of it. I would have reacted differently." Former Bayern Munich player Rafinha revealed on Sport TV the reactions of most Bayern Munich players towards Donnarumma for injuring Musiala. The Brazilian explained how Bayern players demanded an apology from Donnarumma. Rafinha: "They were angry because they wanted Donnarumma to at least apologize, since they saw that the injury was serious. After the game, there were heated conversations in the dressing room. The players went to him [Donnarumma] in the PSG dressing room to ask him to apologize; they exchanged some strong words. They demanded that, like a 'code of ethics', at least to apologize, even though he didn't do it on purpose." Fever's Stephanie White provides Caitlin Clark injury update before Sparks clash
The post Fever's Stephanie White provides Caitlin Clark injury update before Sparks clash appeared first on ClutchPoints. Caitlin Clark's groin injury has kept her off the court for the Indiana Fever's recent games, but she might be making a comeback soon. Even without their star guard, the Fever have managed to pull off their two best games of the season: First, they took down the Minnesota Lynx 74-59 on July 1, and then they dominated the Las Vegas Aces 81-54 on July 3. Advertisement There's a chance Clark could return this Saturday against the Los Angeles Sparks, although her status is still up in the air. Head coach Stephanie White shared an update after practice on July 4. While Clark has started to get back into some activities, she hasn't yet participated fully in team drills. 'We went through some semi-live shooting drills… [Clark] still hasn't gone full speed or joined in on defensive group work,' White explained. 'But she's been doing some 3-on-3 work on her own.' Clark mentioned that she's not a fan of being limited to minutes, which could potentially delay her return. 'The biggest thing is she's said she doesn't like minute restrictions. If there's going to be one, maybe we'll hold her out another game,' White added. 'We'll re-evaluate her in the morning, see how she's handled the added load over the past few days, and decide from there.' Advertisement White also stressed that Clark's long-term health is the team's top priority, regardless of their performance. 'I prioritize her long-term health and wellness and ensuring that when she comes back, she's 100%,' the coach concluded. The Fever can afford to take their time, thanks to Indiana's impressive performances without Clark. It seems a final decision will be made on Saturday morning. If Clark comes back, it could provide Indiana extra motivation against Las Vegas, even though they have already proved they can win against the Aces. As the playoff race heats up, the timing of her return may be perfect for making an impact. Chris Sale injury update
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale is on the 15-day injured list after fracturing his rib cage making a dive while attempting to field a ground ball late in last Wednesday's start. Today, a few updates emerged from sources across the baseball universe which provided some good news mixed in with the bad news that Sale won't be returning anytime soon. Advertisement Sale's former battery mate with the Chicago White Sox - and former Atlanta Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski - provided an update during today's Foul Territory that Sale has two small rib fractures. The Athletic's David O'Brien added that Sale is traveling with the team and receiving treatment while on the road. Furthermore, O'Brien passed along the good news that the Braves expect Sale to pitch again this season. Sale, 36, was in the midst of another outstanding season with 2.5 fWAR across 15 starts. He was striking out almost 31-percent of the batters he faced this season while walking only 7-percent. He was carrying a 2.65 FIP in 89.1 innings at the time of his injury. It will be yet another injury-shortened campaign for the 2024 NL Cy Young Award winner. But, hopefully one that will see him return to the mound later this summer. Advertisement More from
