Bangladesh Offers to Buy Boeing Planes to Sway Trump on Tariffs

Bangladesh has offered to buy 25 jets from Boeing Co., using the recent US-Indonesia trade deal as a model, in hopes of persuading President Donald Trump to lower tariffs on the country. 'We have made commitments that are maintainable for us. The Boeing purchase is part of that,' Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman said in an interview with Bloomberg News on Sunday, ahead of his departure to Washington. 'If they compare our offer with others, we should get a better deal.'

RAF Valley jets in near miss with small civilian aircraft

Two RAF jets narrowly missed a small, civilian aircraft, according to a new investigators' two Hawk Jet pilots from RAF Valley on Anglesey were within two miles of an unidentified C42 microlight aircraft when they were told of its presence, the UK Airprox Board (UKAB) report started a gentle turn to the south, spotted the two-seater and passed above and in front of it, the report report added that crew estimated the jets were 150ft (46 meters) above the aircraft and approximately 100ft (30m) to its side during the incident in January. Low cloud on the day meant the two RAF jets could not increase their height to 2500ft over the Menai Strait following a low level exit as the RAF Valley Flying Order Book recommends, according to the report. Air traffic control contacted Caernarfon Aerodrome to enquire who was operating the aircraft in question, and were told it was not local to report said the unidentified pilot had not been in communication with Valley air traffic control or Caernarfon airport air traffic control."It is likely that if even one of the above was different, the (incident) would have been more distant and the probability of a collision reduced substantially further," the report report said the civilian pilot "could not be traced".

Erdogan says Germany, Britain positive on Eurofighter jets sale to Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Germany and Britain took a positive stance on the sale of Eurofighter jets to Turkey, adding that Ankara wants to finalize the purchase as soon as possible. Turkey has been in talks on buying Eurofighter Typhoon jets, which are built by a consortium of Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain, represented by companies Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo. 'The British and Germans are approaching this positively. God willing, I believe we will receive our jet planes as soon as possible,' Erdogan was cited as telling reporters on a flight from northern Cyprus. 'In my meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, I saw they also approached the issue positively and hopefully we will take this step,' he said, according to a transcript of his comments published on Monday.

Trump says 5 jets ‘shot out of the air' during India-Pakistan aerial fight

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that up to five jets were shot down during recent India-Pakistan hostilities that began after an April Islamist militant attack in India-administered Kashmir, with the situation calming after a ceasefire in May. Trump , who made his remarks at a dinner with some Republican US lawmakers at the White House, did not specify which side's jets he was referring to. 'In fact, planes were being shot out of the air. Five, five, four or five, but I think five jets were shot down actually,' Trump said while talking about the India-Pakistan hostilities, without elaborating or providing further detail. Pakistan claimed it downed five Indian planes in air-to-air combat. India's highest-ranking general said in late May that India switched tactics after suffering losses in the air on the first day of hostilities and established an advantage before a ceasefire was announced three days later. India also claimed it downed 'a few planes' of Pakistan. Islamabad denied suffering any losses of planes but acknowledged its airbases suffered hits. Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan that he announced on social media on May 10 after Washington held talks with both sides. India has differed with Trump's claims that it resulted from his intervention and his threats to sever trade talks. India's position has been that New Delhi and Islamabad must resolve their problems directly and with no outside involvement.
