Person jumped into security vehicle to escape knife-wielding man at Portage and Main: police
Social Sharing A 25-year-old man has been charged after several pedestrians were threatened with a knife at Portage and Main, one of whom jumped into a passing security vehicle as they were being chased, Winnipeg police say. Shortly before 7 p.m. Friday, officers were called with reports of an armed man threatening pedestrians with a knife at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Main Street, police said in a Saturday news release. The iconic Winnipeg intersection reopened to above-ground pedestrian crossing for the first time in 46 years just over a week ago. One of the pedestrians, who was being chased by the armed man, jumped into a nearby security vehicle and contacted police, the news release said. Officers found the 25-year-old suspect near Portage and Main, but he fled before being taken into custody a couple blocks away, near McDermot Avenue. A knife was recovered during his arrest. No injuries were reported. The man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and failing to comply with the conditions of a release order. He was detained in custody.

Man, 41, arrested after teenagers threatened with knife in Frome
A man has been arrested after two teenagers were threatened with a knife, one of whom was cut on the and Somerset Police received a report at around 05:00 BST on Saturday that a man had approached the teenagers in Culverhill, Frome, and was acting no initial injury was reported, one of the teenagers was later taken to hospital for the shoulder cut.A 41-year-old man has been arrested and remains in police custody. The teenager's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or and Somerset Police said officers conducted enquiries in the area following the incident.

Man charged with threatening people with knife in Lake County, deputies say
A Wadsworth man was charged after deputies said he threatened two people with a knife Wednesday morning in Lake County. Joshua W. Marksberry, 39, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Lake County Sheriff's Office said around 9:40 a.m., deputies responded to his residence in the 15900 block of West Wadsworth Road for a report of an aggravated assault. While at the scene, they learned that Marksberry pulled out a knife and threatened the victim and threatened to cut the throat of another person on the property. The relationship between the three involved is unclear. He left the scene on foot before the deputies' arrival. Later in the evening, around 8:30 p.m., a person matching his description was spotted near Wadsworth Road and Dilleys Road. After a search by deputies along with K9 Hemi, Marksberry was found inside a tent and arrested without incident. He remains held in the Lake County Jail pending his initial court hearing Thursday morning. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office said it intends to file a petition to detain Marksberry while awaiting trial. The office said he was charged in 2017 for stabbing a roommate.

Woman ‘threatened with knife and raped' in town park as man, 52, arrested
A WOMAN was allegedly threatened with a knife and raped in a town park on Friday afternoon. Police are currently appealing for witnesses after the woman reported the shocking attack in Kingsnorth Gardens in Folkestone, Kent. A 52-year-old male suspect was arrested and taken into custody - and was then later charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of cocaine. He has been bailed in regards to the alleged sexual assault and will appear before Margate Magistrates' Court on Monday. More to follow... Knife-waving man arrested at north Edmonton Walmart
The Walmart in Slave Lake. (Google Street View) A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening employees in a northern Alberta Walmart with a knife. It happened on Monday in Slave Lake. Police responded and arrested a 23-year-old man from Trout Lake, Alta. RCMP say a search of the man turned up stolen goods as well as a knife. The man has been charged with: theft under $5,000; causing a disturbance; carrying a concealed weapon; and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He has been released from custody and will appear in court in Slave Lake on June 18.
