InventHelp Inventor Develops New Leak Repair Clamp (BEC-454)
PITTSBURGH, July 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- "I wanted to create an improved leak repair clamp that would not only stop a leak but would also permit trenchless replacements on leak-repaired water lines," said an inventor, from Hesperia, Calif., "so I invented the BREAK AWAY REPAIR CLAMP. My design would offer an improved alternative to current clamps on the market." The patent-pending invention provides an improved design for leak repair clamps used for water utility lines. In doing so, it offers an effective means of stopping a line leak while also having a split perforation feature to permit subsequent pull-and-split trenchless line replacement or "line bursting". As a result, it increases efficiency, and it could help reduce costs. The invention features a durable design that is easy to use so it is ideal for water and sewer utility companies, municipal water agencies, plumbers, etc. The original design was submitted to the National sales office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers. Borden pool now open after delay caused by leak
Borden Natural Swimming Pool is expected to open today, weeks later than normal because of a leak found in June. Borden Natural Swimming Pool opened for the summer on Tuesday. The pool was supposed to open on June 21 before a leak in one of the pool basins – believed to be caused by the freeze-thaw cycle – was found. Arthur Robinson, Borden pool's facility lead, told CTV News Edmonton 'it means a lot' to finally be open. 'Especially having the staff getting ready to work out here and then having our season in question a little bit,' he said. 'But I'm glad that we are able to open with the work that was done.' Repairs were estimated to cost between $80,000 and $100,000.

Borden pool opening delayed until late July because of leak
Borden Natural Swimming Pool won't open until late July after a leak was discovered in one of the pool basins. A city spokesperson said the leak was discovered when staff were preparing for the pool's original June 21 opening date and is believed to have been caused by the freeze-thaw cycle. 'The leaking was found where the pipe connects with one of the natural filter beds which is filled with rocks and plants. Investigation and repair of the leak source required removal of the rocks from the filter to expose the liner. The filter has now been repaired and reassembled,' Christina Chu, with the community services department, told CTV News Edmonton in an email. 'After this repair, the pool is filled, then the water needs to be tested for safety and pass Alberta Health standards and inspections. We are currently anticipating an approximate open date of mid- to late-July.' Repairs are estimated to cost between $80,000 and $100,000, due to the specialized filter material and labour-intensive nature of the work. The city website currently lists July 21 as the pool's opening date. As a natural pool, no chemicals are used to clean the water at Borden Natural Swimming Pool. Instead, rock filters and natural processes are used in the regeneration basin to clean the water. It is the first of its kind in Canada.

Pinellas woman ends up with holes in house after leak repair
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Terri Stevens has used her Dunedin home's warranty many times over the years to fix things like a washer, dryer and garbage disposal. 'I thought it was the greatest thing that you could possibly have, especially if you don't have funds to fix things,' she said. 'You just have to pay a copay, and they come out and repair it.' Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now So when she heard a strange sound in the wall and thought her hot water heater was leaking, she called First American Home Warranty, and they sent out a plumber but he couldn't find the leak. So they sent another company that drilled through the outside of her home but they too were unable to locate the leak. Their next recommendation was extreme. St. Pete City Council votes for twin apartment towers to be built instead of Moffitt Cancer Center 'Basically, they're going to have to jackhammer through the house and the best thing to do is just re-pipe, $8,000, what you paid the home warranty company has paid us already, we'll just deduct it,' Steven said. 'And I'm like, 'whoa, that's a lot of information, you got to hold off. I'm not doing anything right now.'' Stevens said she hired another plumber on her own, who located and fixed the leak in one day. But she's stuck with the holes in her house. She said was told it would be fixed and then told she'll have to find her own contractor and would receive only $125 toward the repair. So Stevens called Better Call Behnekn and Consumer Investigator Shannon Behnken took pictures of the mess and sent them to to the warranty company. Hours later, Behnken was promised they'd look into this, and Stevens said the company called her to assure her they will make this right. A spokesman sent this statement: First American Home Warranty provides our valued customers with budget protection from unexpected repair or replacement costs due to a breakdown of covered home systems and appliances. We have provided the customer with coverage that meets the terms of our contract. Since 2020, First American Home Warranty has helped its customers in Florida with over $44 million in repair and replacement costs on covered items. Stevens said a representative told her workers will repair the holes and pack with concrete and then patch. Better Call Behnken will continue to follow this issue until it is fully resolved.
