Is this £8 lip oil worth the hype? I tested it against my go-to lip products
I'm a lip product enthusiast – always have been, and always will be. At any time, I have at least four different lip products in my handbag: Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in 'Pillow Talk Original', my all-time favourite lip liner; Ole Henriksen's Pout Preserve Lip Treatment in 'Crème Brulee' for easy, on-the-go application; Fenty Beauty's Gloss Bomb in 'Fenty Glow for a lick of shine; and Dior's Addict Lip Glow in 'Rosewood', a birthday gift from my sister. I admit there really was no need for me to add to this collection. But what can I say? I'm a victim of the infinite TikTok scroll, and sometimes that leads to unnecessary purchases. Case in point for my latest lip product: Nyx's Fat Lip Oil Drip in 'Splash of Cream'. Nyx Fat Lip Oil Drip £7.99 Shop Infused with cloudberry oil, raspberry oil and vegan squalane, the lip oil creates a barrier that locks in moisture and ensures up to 12 hours of nourishment and protection. It has a large doe-foot applicator, which provides low-maintenance results with just one swipe; and comes 14 shades and three finishes – creamy, jelly and shimmer – each delivering a non-sticky, gloss-like shine. From the first swipe, I could tell I was going to love this product. Nyx's Fat Oil Lip Drip is more pigmented than other lip oils I've tried, but leaves a sheer wash of colour. The shade 'Splash of Cream' is described as a 'honey nude' and gives me that my-lips-but-better' look. And while the pigment fades after a few hours or so (although this can be fixed by applying a lip liner first), my lips still feel soft and hydrated at the end of the day. And that's really all I'm looking for, especially for £7.99.
