Frank emerges as candidate - but who else in Tottenham frame?

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has emerged as Tottenham's leading candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou as sources have told BBC Sport that Spurs are strongly interested in Frank and that initial work has been already been undertaken to enquire about the Brentford coach's has a good relationship with Spurs technical director and fellow Dane Johan Lange, which could be a deciding factor when club chairman Daniel Levy comes to decide who he the likes of Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola, Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner and Fulham's Marco Silva are among others understood to be in the Tottenham have even given consideration to reappointing former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently in charge of the United paid the price for an unacceptable Premier League season that saw Spurs finish just one place above the relegation their Europa League triumph was not enough to save the Australian from what had seemed inevitable for 59-year-old was appointed boss in June 2023, becoming Spurs' fourth permanent manager since Pochettino led them to the Champions League final in 2018-19, following Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte. Thomas Frank (Brentford) Leading contender Frank, 51, has been in charge of Brentford for more than six years, and what a job he has took them into the Premier League, winning the Championship play-off final at Wembley in 2021, and has established the Bees as a top-flight finished 10th in the Premier League this season, four places and six points above Spurs, so would he be tempted? In January, he told Football Focus that managing Brentford was the "perfect job" - but also accepted he would not be at the club forever."There's much more pressure at Tottenham than there is at Brentford, because of the expectation - and the manager has to handle that expectation," Chris Sutton, a Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers in 1994-95, told BBC what would Spurs look like under Frank if he were to take the role?"It's a surprisingly difficult question to answer because he's a really flexible manager," said football tactics writer Alex Keble."He will automatically adapt his tactics to whoever the opposition is, a bit like Unai Emery at Aston Villa."In many ways he's the opposite of Ange Postecoglou, who is famously wedded to one idea." Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth) Iraola was arguably the Premier League's manager of the season, so tempting the 42-year-old Spaniard to north London could be a tough ask - he may feel he has unfinished business at finished ninth in the Premier League, just missing out on qualifying for European high-energy pressing style has seen Bournemouth earn rave reviews from pundits and opposition players - and would not be too far away from the intended style of Postecoglou at Spurs. His managerial career started in Cyprus at AEK Larnaca but he was sacked within six months after going nearly eight weeks without a second role was at Spanish second-tier side Mirandes, who he guided to the Spanish Cup semi-finals for the second time in their history, but he left when his contract moved to fellow second division side Rayo Vallecano and led them to the last four of the cup as well, before securing promotion to La Liga via the was approached by Leeds in February 2023 but was denied permission to speak to them and then left that summer to join Bournemouth. Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace) Glasner's name is in the frame after he secured a stunning FA Cup final win against Manchester City and took Crystal Palace into Austrian led Palace to 10th last season after replacing Roy Hodgson as manager in February 2024 and, after a slow start, replicated that fine form this 50-year-old's current deal expires in 2026 and last month Eagles chairman Steve Parish poured cold water on any Tottenham links - insisting Glasner would still be manager of Crystal Palace next 2022, Glasner guided Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League in his first season in charge. Marco Silva (Fulham) Silva's two and a half years at Fulham have seen him rebuild a reputation that suffered a blow when he was dismissed by Everton after 18 months in charge back in spending almost two years out of the game, since taking over in west London he has re-established Fulham as a Premier League force, finishing 10th in 2022-23, 13th last season and 11th this Portuguese started his managerial career in charge of Estoril, guiding them into the Portuguese top flight and the Europa his single season at Sporting he won the Portuguese Cup, and in his year at Olympiakos, who he also managed in the Champions League, he took them to the Greek League spent four months at Hull in 2017 but left after they were relegated from the Premier League, before joining Watford and taking the team into the top four during his first few months in he was dismissed after a dismal run that saw them win just one of his last 11 Premier League games. Roberto de Zerbi (Marseille) Former Brighton boss De Zerbi built a strong reputation during his time in the Premier 45-year-old has just led Marseille to second in Ligue 1 behind champions Paris St-Germain and can look forward to Champions League football next with Spurs now also in the Champions League, could he be tempted by a return to England's top flight? Mauricio Pochettino (United States) The return of Pochettino is a reunion many Tottenham fans would be dreaming of. But, on the face of it, it seems Argentine remains a hero among some of the regulars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Joining in 2014, he led the team to second and third in the Premier League, and a Champions League he had sections of his former club's fanbase giddy with excitement in March after he declared his desire to one day return to United States boss is under pressure in his current role but the country's soccer federation would be owed what has been described by a well-placed source as "one of the biggest financial compensation fees in football history" if Pochettino was to leave for Spurs - or any other team for that matter - before the next World despite the 53-year-old's affinity for Spurs, he also retains a genuine desire to lead the States at the next World Cup. Edin Terzic (unattached) Terzic took Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final last season, which his side lost to Real Madrid at Wembley. The German left Dortmund shortly afterwards, having asked the club to terminate his 42-year-old has never managed in the Premier League, although he spent just over two years at West Ham between August 2015 and November 2017 as assistant to Slaven Bilic, and has recently been reported as being interested in a move to England. Francesco Farioli (unattached) Italian Farioli, 36, gained a lot of plaudits during his season in charge of Ajax, despite stepping down at the end of the campaign after a dramatic late collapse saw his side miss out on the Dutch before had a side failed to win the league when leading by nine points with five matches to overtook them at the top with one fixture remaining after Ajax lost twice and drew twice in four games. Kieran McKenna (Ipswich) McKenna has done a remarkable job in his first managerial role at Ipswich Town, leading them from League One to the Premier League in just two and a half years in charge, albeit they lasted just one season in the top expansive brand of football saw them gain promotion with successive second-place finishes, scoring 101 goals in League One and 92 in the means it is no surprise the 38-year-old from Northern Ireland is considered one of the top managerial prospects was linked with the jobs at Brighton, Manchester United and Chelsea last summer, having spent just £4m last campaign to guide his side into the Premier he signed a four-year deal at the Tractor Boys in May 2024 and would be expensive to prise away from also recently stated he intends to remain at Ipswich, despite their Premier League relegation. Sir Gareth Southgate (unattached) Former England boss Southgate has been resting since stepping down following the Euro 2024 final, which the Three Lions lost to England side also reached the final of the Euros three years earlier, losing to Italy on 54-year-old had eight years in charge of England and was knighted in the 2025 New Year he has only had one job in club management, a three-year spell in charge of Middlesbrough, which included a Premier League relegation in 2008-09, and has given no indication of a burning desire to be back in work. Xavi (unattached) The former Spain midfielder has been out of work since being sacked by Barcelona at the end of last 45-year-old, who guided Barca to the La Liga title in 2023, has recently said he is looking for a return to whether he would be tempted by a move to Spurs remains to be seen.

Managerial Change Does Not Provide Answers for Baltimore Orioles

Teams that make a managerial change hope for immediate results from the move. On Saturday, the Baltimore Orioles had a glimmer of hope before their afternoon game at Orioles Park at Camden Yards against the Washington Nationals. Well, that did not happen as a bad first inning showed that the Orioles were not ready. Starter Kyle Gibson gave up six earned runs while he was on the mound as the Nationals posted a 10-6 victory. Gibson (0-3) only got two outs as Mansolino pulled him and put former starter Charlie Morton out there for long relief. While Morton did a decent job, the damage already was done. Baltimore's defense didn't do Gibson any favors, either, The Associated Press reported. Washington leadoff hitter CJ Abrams managed to get to second base on what was a regular single. Then, Baltimore center fielder Cedric Mullins couldn't field an easy fly ball. All of these helped the Nationals score four first-inning runs before making an out. Advertisement Mansolino, the previously Baltimore's third-base coach, was put in charge of the lineup on an interim basis as Orioles general manager Mike Elias fired Brandon Hyde on Saturday morning. Baltimore was 15-28 entering its game against the Nationals. Hyde led the Orioles to postseason play in 2023 and 2024, but the 2025 season's early record couldn't save his job. Baltimore scored four runs in the ninth inning, but it was too little, too late. Washington starter Jake Irvin (3-1) took a shutout into the seventh inning before the Orioles scored two runs in the frame.

'Element of unknown' about Rangers target Ancelotti

Rumours have been circulating for months around the managerial situation at Ibrox, ever since Philippe Clement was shown the Barry Ferguson's stint as interim boss give him a shot longer-term? Could Jose Mourinho be tempted to Glasgow? Might Steven Gerrard fancy a second stint? Rangers have now approached Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti, but the Premiership club are yet to establish a leading candidate for the 35, is the son of Real Madrid manager Carlo, who is leaving the Spanish giants at the end of the season to become Brazil Ancelotti junior's lack of managerial experience, ESPN Spanish football writer Sam Marsden says it would be something of a shot in the dark for Rangers."He's obviously been working with his dad for well over 10 years now," Marsden said. "He's got experience at some of the biggest clubs in the world."But when you're appointing a young coach and a coach who's not been an outright manager at this career, there's also some element of the unknown as well."And I think there's even more an element of unknown about Davide Ancelotti, because, perhaps with no reason, people have questioned whether he is up to the job or whether it's to do with his dad. "Less so over the years, it's fair to say, but certainly at first. It would be a really interesting appointment from Rangers."Marsden believes Ancelotti is keen to move away from his father's shadow and establish himself as a manager in his own started out as a fitness coach, Ancelotti has risen through the ranks of his father's backroom staff with spells at Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and now Real Madrid."The feeling for a while has been that regardless of what happens with Carlo this summer, Davide has been looking to go on his own at the end of the season," Marsden said."I think at his age, he wants to be involved in the day-to-day. The international scene is a very different job."Perhaps it gives him that extra push he needs to now spread his wings and prove himself. "I'm sure he feels he's got something to prove because regardless of how good you are, if you're the son of one of the greatest managers of all time, as the trophies say, you're going to get accused of a certain sort of nepotism."

Rangers are 'close to agreeing a deal for legendary manager's son' in a blow to former head coach Steven Gerrard ahead of his wished-for Ibrox return

Davide Ancelotti is believed to be the preferred candidate to take over at Rangers as he prepares to split with his famous father Carlo for the first time in his managerial career. The Scottish giants are in the midst of appointing a long-term successor for former head coach Philippe Clement, who was sacked by Rangers after 16 months in charge earlier this year. Interim head coach Barry Ferguson has been helming the club for the remainder of the season, with the Scottish Premiership outfit trailing their loathed rivals Celtic at the top of the table by 17 points. Among those under consideration by the club are former manager Steven Gerrard, and ex-Wolves boss Gary O'Neil. But as per reports in Spain, Ancelotti Jnr is thought to be close to agreeing a deal to seal his move to the Ibrox. Ancelotti has worked with his father since the start of his coaching career, first informally from 2012 during his time at Paris Saint-Germain, and after securing his UEFA A licence in 2016, as an established member of his backroom set-up. Ancelotti Jnr has held assistant managerial roles at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and currently working under his father at Real Madrid. But as per as, Ancelotti Jnr will not follow Ancelotti Snr to Brazil on a long-term basis following the announcement of his official appointment with the Selecao. However, father and son will remain together for the beginning of his career in Latin America, with Ancelotti Jnr assisting his father's preparations for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. Should Ancelotti Jnr take up the role in Scotland, he is believed to be set to take fellow Real Madrid assistant coach Francesco Mauri with him as part of his set-up, with Carlo continuing his work with ex-assistant coach for Los Blancos Paul Clement. Ancelotti Jnr is thought to be keen to step out on his after more than a decade working with his father, and is believed to have also been courted by Saudi Arabian sides. Previously, teams thought to include Sevilla, RB Leipzig, and Roma are all thought to have mulled a move for Ancelotti Jnr, but found him unwilling to be prised away from his father's set-up. Gazetta dello Sport has also reported that Serie A side Como could also be keen to secure the services of the 35-year-old - should current head coach Cesc Fabregas be snapped up by Bayer Leverkusen as they seek to replace incoming Real Madrid coach-in-waiting Xabi Alonso. Should Ancelotti Jnr be given the nod at the Ibrox, that news could come as a disappointment to former manager Gerrard. The Liverpool icon was filmed just last week professing his love for Rangers in a viral video filmed during a night out. In a clip that has been widely circulated on social media, Gerrard was seen joking with a fan via a video call. Gerrard said: 'We f***ing love Rangers. F*** Debbie, I love Rangers.' Gerrard managed Rangers from 2018 to 2021, ending Celtic's long reign with an unbeaten league season and finishing 25 points clear at the top. He left in November 2021 to take over at Aston Villa but lasted just under a year before being sacked in October 2022. The Liverpool legend then moved to Al Ettifaq in July 2023 but was dismissed in January with the team sitting 12th in the Saudi Pro League table. Rangers are preparing early for the 2025–26 campaign, with the club's American takeover led by 49ers Enterprises close to completion. Sporting director Kevin Thelwell has already been pictured at Ibrox meeting interim manager Ferguson.
