Russell Brand's courtroom sketch revealed as he faces sexual assault charges
Former comedian and actor Russell Brand was granted conditional bail at Westminster Magistrates' Court today as he appeared straight faced and kept his arms and legs crossed Russell Brand kept his arms crossed as he sat in court during his 12-minute hearing. The former comedian and actor appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court today to face charges of rape and sexual assault and was granted conditional bail. A court sketch has shown Brand as the clerk read out the charges in full. He was charged by post last month with one count each of rape, indecent assault and oral rape, as well as two counts of sexual assault, relating to four separate women, in alleged assaults said to date back 26 years. In the image, Brand sitting with his arms folded as he looked on. He wore a black shirt that was buttoned only to his midriff and a pair of black trousers. The comedian was dressed casually in court, wearing a distressed black denim shirt - which he left slightly unbuttoned - and a pair of black distressed jeans with a brown belt. Brand kept a straight expression as he also crossed his legs while sitting on a row of chairs. During the hearing, Brand also stood up in front of Chief Magistrate Goldspring. The clerk read out the charges in full but Brand was not asked to enter any pleas and his case was sent to the Old Bailey where he is due to appear on May 30. Brand walked slowly out of the court, staring straight ahead. Detectives launched an investigation after he was accused by several women in September 2023. The Crown Prosecution Services authorised charging Brand, who lives in the US, in April. Det Supt Andy Furphy, from the Met police, said at the time: "The women who have made reports continue to receive support from trained officers. The Met's investigation remains open and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward. "A team of investigators is available via email at CIT@ Support is also available by contacting the 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line." Jaswant Narwal, of the CPS, said: "We have today authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Russell Brand with a number of sexual offences." After the 2023 allegations, which followed a joint investigation by The Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches, he vehemently denied any wrongdoing, insisting all his relationships have been consensual.

Russell Brand bailed after appearing in court accused of rape and sexual assault
The comedian has flown in from the US to face sex attack charges in relation to four alleged victims, including rape and 'indecently assaulting a woman by dragging her towards a male toilet' Russell Brand has been granted conditional bail at Westminster Magistrates' Court after appearing at a 12 minute hearing to face charges of rape and sexual assault. Standing behind reinforced glass in the dock, he spoke to confirm his name and address in Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, before appearing to forget his postcode. Holding his sunglasses behind his back, Brand, 49, confirmed the details after he was prompted by chief magistrate Paul Goldspring. Mr Goldspring said he must also provide, as part of his bail provisions, his address in the US where he also resides. The clerk read out the charges in full but Brand was not asked to enter any pleas and his case was sent to the Old Bailey where he is due to appear on May 30. Brand walked slowly out of the court staring straight ahead. He was charged by post last month with one count each of rape, indecent assault and oral rape, as well as two counts of sexual assault, relating to four separate women, in alleged assaults said to date back 26 years. The TV personality is accused of indecently assaulting one woman in 2001 by allegedly 'grabbing her arm and dragging her towards a male toilet'. Brand is accused of raping another woman in 1999 and allegedly groped the breasts of a third woman and forced her to perform oral sex in 2004. A fourth alleged victim says the now 49-year-old sexually assaulted her by touching her "when she did not consent" in 2005. The incidents are said to have occurred in Bournemouth, Dorset, and the Westminster area of central London. Reacting to the charges in a video posted online, Brand said last month: "I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict and a sex addict and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist. I have never engaged in non-consensual acts." He added: "I've never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes." Detectives launched an investigation after he was accused by several women in September 2023. "A team of investigators is available via email at CIT@ Support is also available by contacting the 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line." Jaswant Narwal, of the CPS, said: "We have today authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Russell Brand with a number of sexual offences." Brand, from Grays, Essex, was aged between 26 and 30 when the alleged offences occurred. During the early period covered by the charges he was a presenter for MTV, but was sacked after coming to work dressed as Osama bin Laden the day after the September 11 terror attacks in 2001 . In 2004, he began hosting Big Brother's Big Mouth, the E4 companion show to the Channel 4 reality series Big Brother. Channel 4 production company Banijay UK and the BBC are also investigating Brand's conduct. He presented a BBC Radio 2 show between 2006 and 2008. The father-of-three was married to US pop singer Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012 and has since remarried. After the 2023 allegations, which followed a joint investigation by The Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches, he vehemently denied any wrongdoing, insisting all his relationships have been consensual. He moved to Florida from Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire last autumn, claiming he was being persecuted in the UK. He wrote in February: "I don't live in the United Kingdom anymore, because I personally have experienced how the media, government and judiciary - if you become an inconvenience - will find ways to attack and shut you down." In his video last month, he said: "I'm speaking particularly to those of you watching in the UK. How do you feel about your legal system?" He also made a reference to the Southport murders of last July, for which triple killer Axel Rudakubana was jailed for a minimum of 52 years.

Russell Brand arrives at London court to face rape and sexual assault charges
LONDON -- Actor and comedian Russell Brand has arrived at a London court to face rape and sexual assault charges on Friday morning. The charges relate to four separate women and the alleged crimes span from 1999 to 2005, authorities said. Brand has been charged with one count of rape, one count of oral rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. Brand, known for his stand-up comedy acts and his film role in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," denied all allegations. The 49-year-old actor and comedian appeared in person at Westminster Magistrates court in central London and moved through a large crowd of reporters, photographers and some fans, saying nothing as he made his way into the courthouse to face his charges. "The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers," Metropolitan Police Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said in a statement when the charges were announced on April 4. "The Met's investigation remains open and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police. A dedicated team of investigators is available via email at CIT@ Brand responded to the charges on social media last month saying, "I've always told you guys that when I was young and single, before I had my wife and family ... I was a fool, man, I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile. But what I never was, was a rapist. I've never engaged in nonconsensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes." He then thanked his supporters, adding the he is "incredibly grateful" to defend the charges in court. Metropolitan Police said last month that the charges stem from an investigation that began in September 2023. That month, Britain's Channel 4 program Dispatches aired a documentary episode, the result of a joint investigation with The Times and The Sunday Times, called "Russell Brand: In Plain Sight." The documentary involved four unnamed women, who claimed they had been raped or sexually assaulted by Brand between 2006 and 2013. Following the airing of that episode, Metropolitan Police announced they had opened an investigation after they say they "received a number of allegations of sexual offences." Police did not name Brand at the time but referenced a television documentary and news investigations, according to the Associated Press. In October 2023, in a separate case, the Thames Valley Police in South East England told ABC News they were also investigating allegations of harassment and stalking against Brand, "dating back to 2018." Brand has denied all allegations. Brand claimed in a September 2023 YouTube video, posted prior to the documentary's release, that he had received a pair of "extremely disturbing letters" from what he described as a "mainstream media" outlet and news publication that outlined "very serious allegations that I absolutely refute." At the time, Brand claimed the allegations "pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream" and "in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies." "As I have written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous," he said in that video. "Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent, and I am being transparent about it now as well." Brand suggested that the allegations were part of a "coordinated media attack" intended to discredit him. In addition to acting and comedy, Brand has worked as a political commentator and wellness influencer. He was previously married to singer Katy Perry from 2010 until their divorce in 2012. Brand married Laura Gallacher in 2017. The couple have three children.

Hotel manager jailed for rape after guest woke up to find him licking her feet
A hotel manager who raped a guest and sexually assaulted three others has been jailed for 10 years. Ahmed Fahmy, 46, was found to have used his position as a hotel worker in Barnet guilty to enter guests rooms without permission before launching his attacks. Two women came forward to police after they had become separated from their group of friends on a night out. They paid Fahmy for another room, but one of the women woke up to find Fahmy licking her feet. Later, two of the group returned from the night out and also misplaced their room key. Instead of offering her a new room, Fahmy coerced one woman into sharing his room, where he raped her. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video During the investigation, officers then found his attacks date back from as early as 2008. They linked him to two other non-recent sexual assaults, which largely involved Fahmy touching women's feet. Fahmy has been jailed for 10 years, with another three on extended licence, meaning he'll spend at least a decade behind bars. The Met launched its investigation into Fahmy in 2024, after two women reported being raped at the hotel where he worked in West Heath Drive, Barnet. He worked at a number of hotels across London, and the investigation uncovered allegations from 2008 until last year. During the investigation detectives linked him to two other non-recent sexual assaults, which largely centred on Fahmy touching women's feet. These offences took place in a hotel on Western Gateway, E16, and at a residential address in Alliance Close, Wembley. The Met wants to speak to any other potential victims, or anyone who met Fahmy while he was working at various hotels. Fahmy abused the trust of his employers and hotel guests to manipulate and gain access to the guest rooms where women were staying, even encouraging some to stay in his room. He is known to have worked in at least five hotels in the following locations – though the force warn this list may not be exhaustive: West Heath Drive in Barnet Royal Victoria Dock in E16 Alliance Close in Wembley South Way in Wembley Bridge in Marlow Because of his work in hotels, detectives fear some of his victims could be from outside of London, including from other countries – but all potential victims are encouraged to contact the force. Survivors can contact the police by reporting online, or by emailing who will arrange contact with them. They can also call 0208 733 6311 between 7am and 11pm, Monday to Friday. But detectives fear Fahmy's offending is much more widespread. Detective Constable James Gomm from the Metropolitan Police, who led the investigation, said: 'Fahmy used manipulation to abuse his position as a hotel worker and get close to his victims. 'He demonstrated a clear pattern of offending and abuse. 'I would also like to commend the victim-survivors who have shared their experience to date for the bravery they have shown throughout the investigation and the court proceedings. 'We believe there may be other victims and I would encourage anyone affected to get in contact with us – you will be listened to and receive specialist support and guidance, not only from the police but independent charities and services.'
