Royel Otis Announce New Album ‘hickey', Out This August
Sydney/Eora indie darlings Royel Otis are back to leave another mark — literally. The duo have just announced their second studio album hickey will land this August 22nd.
Serving as the follow-up to their breakout 2024 debut LP PRATTS & PAIN, the new record continues their dreamy, guitar-laced signature sound, kicking off with previously released lead single 'moody', produced by longtime collaborator Blake Slatkin.
So, why hickey? According to the band, 'because love bites harder than any other emotion in the world'.
It's been a whirlwind year for the duo, who've spent 2024 levelling up in a big way. PRATTS & PAIN earned critical acclaim and streaming heat, while their viral Like A Version cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Murder on the Dancefloor' absolutely dominated — climbing the charts, storming the internet, and landing them in the triple j Hottest 100.
Off the back of that success, Royel Otis have played sold-out shows across Australia, the UK, Europe and the US, racked up millions of streams, and made high-profile appearances at Coachella, The Great Escape, and SXSW Austin. They were also recently nominated for an APRA Music Award, cementing their spot as one of the most exciting names in Australian indie right now.
