Delays on M6 after driver seriously hurt in crash
Part of the northbound carriageway of the M6 has been closed after a crash left a driver seriously injured and a vehicle on fire. It is due to a collision between a van and a stationary skip wagon near Charnock Richard services, Lancashire Police said. The motorway is closed northbound between junctions 27 for Standish and 28 for Leyland, with delays of about an hour as traffic from a four-mile tailback is being led past the scene. Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire & Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and National Highways Traffic Officers are attending the scene. 'Do not film' "We know that this closure will have a significant impact on motorists, however our officers are working as quickly as they can at the scene to get the carriageway back open," the force said. "We would ask that people in moving traffic do not film from their vehicles. "Two people have already been seen doing this, and we will look to prosecute them in due course." M11 closed southbound after HGV fire
A motorway was closed in both directions after a HGV Highways said the M11 between junction 10, at Duxford in Cambridgeshire, and junction eight, for Stansted Airport in Essex, was closed and fire and emergency services motorway remained closed southbound for a second incident where a crane needed to be recovered. A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Recovery is progressing into its final stages however the lane closure is likely to remain in place." People were advised to allow extra journey times. M4 motorway in Berkshire closed due to lorry fire
A major motorway has been closed because of a lorry Highways said "multiple fire appliances" attended the fire on the M4 westbound carriageway between junction 12 for Reading and junction 13 for Newbury just after 13:00 eastbound carriageway is also being held because of smoke drifting across the carriageway, the company fire was extinguished just after 16:00 but crews remain at the scene, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue (RBFRS) said. M11 closed near Stansted airport after vehicle fire
A vehicle fire and spillage has closed part of a major motorway in on the M11 southbound was held up between junction 9 for Great Chesterford and junction 8 for London Stansted crews were at the scene.A National Highways spokesperson said delays could be up to 60 minutes on approach and anyone travelling to the airport should allow extra journey time. M5 closed while police investigate serious crash
A section of motorway is closed in both directions while police investigate a serious crash. Avon and Somerset Police said the M5, between J13, A419 (Stroud), and J14, B4509 (Thornbury/ Fairfield), was closed following a crash at about 21:30 BST on Friday. National Highways said "due to the severity of the incident and complexity of the vehicle recovery", the closure was expected to remain in place until about 16:00 BST. All emergency services including the air ambulance attended the crash. National Highways said: "The closure will remain in place for an extended duration to enable a comprehensive investigation. "Upon completion, National Highways service providers will carry out an assessment of the infrastructure and commence any necessary repairs." Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs, exiting the M5 at J14 and turning left onto the B4509. Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol on road signs, exiting the motorway at J13 on to the A38.
