Deftones Finally Earns Its First Platinum Singles After Decades Of Music

Deftones finally earn RIAA certification as 13 singles go gold or higher, led by "Change (In the ... More House of Flies)," which achieves quadruple platinum status. STERLING HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN - MAY 23: Chino Moreno of the Deftones performs at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre on May 23, 2022 in Sterling Heights, Michigan. (Photo by) Hard rock band Deftones became hugely popular in the late 1990s and broke out in a major way around the time of the new millennium. The group remains a favorite among a large number of rock fans to this day, and the earliest tunes and albums are still beloved. Somehow, the outfit had never scored even one certified single in the United States before July 3. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) had never officially confirmed that any of the band's tracks had moved half a million units, which is required for gold status – the lowest award given. That has now changed, and the rockers are making up for lost time with a huge number of new wins. Deftones Score 13 Certified Hits at Once In one quick move, the RIAA has granted Deftones not only its first certified single, but 13 such smashes at once. All of the newly-annointed tracks were released across decades, but are only just now collecting plaques. 'Change (In the House of Flies)' stands out as the biggest Deftones single so far, as the RIAA has named it a quadruple platinum single. That means the tune has shifted at least four million equivalent units between pure purchases and streaming activity. Two other cuts achieve multi-platinum status at the same time, as both 'Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)' and 'My Own Summer (Shove It)' are up to the double platinum tier. Meanwhile, 'Cherry Waves,' 'Passenger,' and 'Rosemary' are all platinum wins, as each has moved one million units in the U.S. Seven Gold Records Seven other Deftones tunes begin at the gold level, as all of them have moved at least half a million units – although some may have already pushed past that number, but not quite reached a million. That roundup includes 'Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want,' 'Hole in the Earth,' 'Entombed,' 'Minerva,' 'Beware,' 'Around the Fur,' and 'Beauty School.' Several Platinum Albums Four Deftones albums have also been certified by the RIAA, but the band hasn't seen any of its full-lengths snag an additional plaque since 2011. Three projects — Around the Fur, Adrenaline, and White Pony — are tied as the group's biggest, as each has gone platinum. The act's self-titled project was named a gold success in 2003 and has not advanced since.

The rise of amapiano star Zee Nxumalo - ‘I allow myself to be myself'

Amapiano vocalist Zee Nxumalo has earned four Basadi in Music Award nominations. Lessons Zee has taken from fame and industry peers include authenticity, consistency and time management. Her creative process in the studio includes freestyling to the beat. _________________________________________________________________ At just 22 years old, Zandile Nxumalo's stamp on the amapiano community is as bold as her presence. Professionally known as Zee Nxumalo, the Swazi-South African vocalist is topping the charts with infectious rhythms and sultry melodies on tracks like Ngisakuthanda, all while racking up millions of streams. The songstress continues to make strides in her meteoric rise in the entertainment industry, from claiming the most nominations at the upcoming Basadi in Music Awards with four under her belt to buying a luxury car and bagging her first international feature with Romanian artists Raluka and millforlife on her latest single called In & Out. Zee is a busy woman, with TRUELOVE catching up with the star while she's on the road all while letting her Basadi in Music Award nominations still 'sink in'. 'We're definitely working here. There's no longer time to spare for things that don't make sense, we literally have to become super intentional about what we do with our time,' Zee tells TRUELOVE. Learning from fame More than just a rising star, Zee has quickly become a staple voice among the hypnotic beats and synths of amapiano, and she's had to learn how to navigate meeting new fans and industry colleagues. On the lessons she's learning, she explains, 'Remaining true to myself and staying true to who I truly am was the highlights but, obviously, because I'm still fairly new to the game, ngisafunda (I'm still learning). I don't want to lie, I'm learning a lot of things. Things like respecting time, time management, planning. 'Those are things that two years back, they were not really of much importance to me but because I'm getting myself exposed to so many things, ngiyafunda.' Life is a teacher to many at any age, with Zee looking up to young stars like singer Naledi Aphiwe and industry giants like DJ Maphorisa for authenticity and consistency. READ MORE | Rising star | Kealeboga Masango on Genesis role, working with seasoned actors and more However, there's always a price to nationwide recognition. Many had a lot to say over a video of Zee's supposedly cold interaction with veteran actress and singer Thembi Seete on a red carpet. Zee clarifies, 'Haibo, she is the one that even called me to the red carpet ukuthi, 'You look good, ngena'. Mina I was there like, 'Oh hi sis' Thembi and yourself, aw ngena', yabo? But I saw the video myself, doesn't look great. Is it just me or is Zee Nxumalo mizing our legend Thembi Seete🔍 — UNCLE CHARLES (@mixedracedUncle) June 21, 2025 'And, unfortunately, it's an opinion-based industry ... It's probably going to happen even after three years, even after four, it's an opinion-based industry. Senz'u-music, people must have opinions about the music we make, they must have opinions about the way we dress. So, it's nothing really - it's not life-threatening.' Letting the music guide her Despite the ups and downs of fame, music is at the crux of Zee's livelihood. Having collaborated with heavy hitters like Pabi Cooper, Tyler ICU, Dlala Thukzin and more, she dives into her creative process behind her number one tracks. 'The beat definitely influences the way in which I interact with the song. Because kunama-chords, sometimes the person can play set chords, then now uyangena ngama-set chords. But mina as uZee Nxumalo, I freestyle a lot. I allow myself to be myself.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Zee Nxumalo (@zeenxumalo_)

Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Ariana Grande Win Multiple Awards at 2025 Kids' Choice Awards (Full Winners List)

Sabrina Carpenter was the top winner at the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards, winning three of the show's signature Orange Blimp trophies: favorite female breakout artist, favorite album for Short n' Sweet and favorite song for 'Taste.' Carpenter's album, which topped the Billboard 200 for four weeks, won the Grammy for best pop vocal album. 'Taste,' a fairly risqué song by Kids' Choice standards, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Tyla hosted the show, which aired live on Saturday, June 21 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Tyla led a dance celebration featuring the hottest songs of the summer and closed out the show with a centerstage sliming (the show's most popular gimmick). She also won favorite global music star. She accepted the Blimp from inside the magical Smurf Village, before unleashing a tidal wave of blue slime on the audience. SZA, Ariana Grande and Jack Black were all double winners on the night. SZA won favorite female artist and favorite music collaboration for 'Luther,' her smash collab with Kendrick Lamar which topped the Hot 100 for 13 weeks. (It goes without saying that the target audience for this show wasn't even born when Luther Vandross died in 2005.) Grande won favorite movie actress for playing Glinda in Wicked and favorite song from a movie for backing Cynthia Erivo on 'Defying Gravity' from that blockbuster musical, which also won favorite movie. Black won favorite movie actor for playing Steve in A Minecraft Movie and also received the special King of Comedy award. The latter award was presented by his Nacho Libre co-stars Ana de la Reguera and Héctor Jiménez. Bruno Mars won favorite male artist. Stray Kids won favorite music group. These were the first wins for Mars, Stray Kids and SZA. Benson Boone won favorite male breakout artist. Selena Gomez and benny blanco won favorite viral song for 'Bluest Flame.' Rihanna, Sabrina Carpenter, Jack Black Provide Best Moments at 2025 Kids' Choice Awards

My main takeaway from the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards is that kids like pretty much the same musical artists as everybody else. Sabrina Carpenter won favorite album for Short n' Sweet, just as she had won the Grammy for best pop vocal album in February. SZA and Bruno Mars won favorite female and male artist, respectively. Carpenter and Benson Boone won favorite female and male breakout artist, respectively. These four artists could have been winners on just about any show. More from Billboard Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Ariana Grande Win Multiple Awards at 2025 Kids' Choice Awards (Full Winners List) Forrest Frank Rules Top Gabb Music Songs Chart for Second Month, Charts 5 Songs in All Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2025: How to Watch Online Without Cable for Free Kendrick Lamar and SZA took favorite music collaboration for 'luther,' which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks and could very well be headed to a Grammy win for record of the year early next year. (The song's namesake, Luther Vandross, died in 2005, long before most of the current Kids' Choice Awards audience was even born.) Wicked, which set a new record as the top-grossing film adapted from a Broadway musical, won for favorite movie. Ariana Grande won favorite movie actress for playing Glinda in that blockbuster film and also took favorite song from a movie as a featured artist on Cynthia Erivo's 'Defying Gravity.' Other music winners included Stray Kids (favorite music group), Tyla (favorite global music star) and Selena Gomez and benny blanco (favorite viral song for 'Bluest Flame'). While slime, and lots of it, is the clearly main attraction on this show, several of the winners snuck inspiring and important messages into their acceptance speeches. Here are five of the best moments from the 2025 Kids' Choice accepted an Icon Award by video and delivered an inspiring message for her young fans. 'I just want to take this moment to remind all of you that wherever you are right now is significant and crucial to where you are about to go. Own your space in this world and know that you are chosen for greatness.' benny blanco made a similar point when he accepted (in-person) favorite viral song for 'Bluest Flame,' a collab with his girlfriend, Selena Gomez (who wasn't present). Wearing an Aerosmith T-shirt, he said, 'I've always wanted one of these since I was a kid and I just want to tell you guys 'Dream anything you can, as big as you can because … you guys can do anything you want.'' Sabrina Carpenter picked up three awards — favorite album for Short n' Sweet, favorite female breakout artist and favorite song for 'Taste.' 'I've always wanted one of these ever since I was a little girl,' she said. 'This is so special to me. I just can't thank each and every one of you enough for voting. I will continue to make these clean versions of these songs for you, and I'm so grateful that you're listening.' Auli'i Caravalho accepted the award for favorite female animated voice from a movie for Moana 2, capping her speech by saying, 'Our first film taught us the importance of righting the imbalance between man and nature and the second film tells us how important it is to welcome people from faraway shores.' In the past, that latter comment would have seemed unremarkable, but in these highly-charged times it seemed to be touching on a hot-button issue. It came at the end of his acceptance speech for the King of Comedy Award, where he was inevitably slimed, yet he said, 'Are you kidding me? I didn't see that coming. You got me.' A trouper, he stayed in position for a second sliming after they presented his second award of the night, favorite movie actor for A Minecraft Movie. The King of Comedy award was presented by Black's Nacho Libre co-stars Ana de la Reguera and Héctor Jiménez, who, Black noted, came from Mexico to present the award. 'Viva Mexico,' Black said, another comment that would have seemed innocuous not so long ago but suddenly seemed highly topical. There were two musical performances: 'cliché,' by mgk, from his upcoming seventh studio album, Lost Americana, and 'Gnarly,' by KATSEYE, from their upcoming second EP, Beautiful Chaos. Both performances culminated in slimings. mgk (wearing a Lost Americana T-shirt) was introduced by his daughter, Casie Baker. KATSEYE was introduced by Ice Spice. Huge A-list star shares adorable childhood photo before becoming one of the biggest stars in the world - can YOU guess who it is?

This huge A-lister looks unrecognisable in a childhood photo from before she grew up to be one of the biggest pop stars in the world. The adorable unearthed picture shows the celebrity as a toddler wearing patterned pyjamas and a sweet pink bucket hat. The star found fame in the music industry at just fourteen years old and has gone on to win an impressive collection of Grammy, BRITs and Billboard awards. The singer isn't afraid to push fashion boundaries and is known for her quirky style and different hair colours. Fans of the music sensation will also know she works very closely with a family member, who has served as a co-writer and producer on many of her projects. But can you guess who this award-winning star is? From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to Daily Mail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. That's right, it's Billie Eilish! The 23-year-old has shared the throwback photo of herself to Instagram a number of times to celebrate her birthday over the years. Billie, who has three albums to her name, is currently on a huge world tour which will be hitting the UK next month and includes a six-night run at London's O2 Arena. She has a sensational nine Grammy wins under her belt, as well as four BRIT Awards and two Oscars, all earned after less than a decade in the industry. In recent days, Billie and actor Nat Wolff, 30, finally confirmed to the public that they are romantically involved with one another after rampant speculation. The pair were seen kissing on a balcony during an outing in Venice, Italy earlier this month in images published by Deux Moi, after denying they were in a romance with one another. The nine-time Grammy winner was seen snapping selfies with her new beau as she donned a striped green polo shirt with her black locks down. The Wildflower singer beamed as she spent time with the actor, who has appeared in 2014's The Fault in Our Stars and 2015's Paper Towns. He also has a musical background as a composer and musician. Billie, who has three albums to her name, is currently on a huge world tour which will be hitting the UK next month and includes a showstopping six-night run at London's O2 Arena 'The couple were locked in a passionate kiss on a balcony, a scene straight out of a romance novel,' a report from the outlet Deux Moi read. 'Adding to the dreamy atmosphere, they were seen sipping champagne and soaking up the Italian sun, clearly enjoying a romantic European getaway.' In images snapped in Italy, both appeared to be in a great mood as their bond appeared to be going in a more public direction. Daily Mail has reached out to reps for both parties for further comment. The public display comes nearly one year after Billie released the music video for her single Chihiro, which featured Natt as her love interest. Billie, who directed the music video, described the relationship between their characters in the video as an 'inescapable connection'. The track was the second single from her album Hit Me Hard and Soft, coming on the heels of her first release from the record, Lunch. Billie said in a news release that she had 'envisioned a dream-like narrative' for the music video. In the music video, the pair make their way out of the building and into a grassy field, where they playfully wrestle and eventually embrace one another. The idea behind the interaction between the characters, according to Billie, was the 'external expression of an internal push and pull, as our deepest feelings of fear, love, or desire inevitably catch up to us, no matter how hard we try to run away.' On Spotify, the song has been played more than 853million times over the past year.
