Binky shared a photo of various toothbrushes and paste on a table, and told her legion of fans that she has gum disease . The reality star shared: 'SO! Just had a routine check up and found I have gum disease that is now destroying my bone? 'A few teeth have very little bone left which is actually quite scary. Apparently I'm just really unlucky/ could be genetic and I need to tackle asap!!' Advertisement Binky continued: 'I've got so many questions, what am I supposed to do other than this every day? Is there anyone out there I can see to zap this asap? 'Teeth have always scared me over anything.' The mum-of-three revealed in a second post that a lot of people had got in touch with her in similar situations. She said: 'I'm going to see a hygienist every three months and they're going to take videos and pictures of my teeth. Advertisement 'Need to use these brushes twice a day with the gel (gel for 2 weeks) and just make sure I'm on top of it.' Binky Felstead cruelly mum-shamed after birth of third child Opening up on the cause of the gum disease, Binky uploaded a photo of herself from one of her pregnancies, and wrote: 'Apparently this is very common in pregnancy. 'So I'm guessing that's what caused it.' Commenting on Binky's announcement, Nyree Whitley, Chief Clinical Officer for mydentist, has shared her thoughts, saying: 'Gum disease can lead to bone loss around the teeth, potentially causing tooth instability and eventual loss. My number one tip for maintaining healthy gums is to make sure you prioritise your at-home oral health routine, which I'd recommend includes brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and flossing. Advertisement 'You may find an electric toothbrush helps to give you an effective clean at home if you suffer from arthritis or a condition which could impact your dexterity, and water flossers are a fantastic way to enhance your routine – providing an easier solution to traditional floss. Gum disease Gum disease is where the gums become red, swollen and sore, and bleed. It's very common, but it's important to get it checked by a dentist. Symptoms of gum disease include: your gums bleeding when you brush your teeth, floss or eat hard foods such as apples your gums becoming swollen, red and sore Gum disease can lead to: bad breath and a bad taste in the mouth your gums shrinking your teeth becoming loose or falling out 'You may want to also consider using a mouthwash to help to fight bacteria, and brushing your tongue with your toothbrush will further support this. 'Incorporating flossing into your toothbrushing routine is a great way to ensure a thorough clean, removing food debris and plaque from between the teeth and gumline. 'The benefit of flossing is that it helps you to clean areas you can't always reach with your toothbrush, which can help to prevent gum disease and tooth decay.' Advertisement She continued: 'Gum disease is also common in women due to hormonal influence, meaning women may experience increased susceptibility to gum disease during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, due to fluctuating hormone levels.' Like Binky, she shared she felt pregnancy was a contributing factor to her gum disease diagnosis, which again, is common in women and it is medically referred to as Gingivitis, which is a milder form of gum disease, particularly common during the second to eighth months of pregnancy. 4 Binky shared a photo of various toothbrushes and paste on a table, and told her legion of fans that she has gum disease . 'I'm a dentist and weight loss jabs have horrifying impact on your teeth no one talks about'

The age-old quest to shed a few pounds ready for summer, or to improve overall health and wellbeing, has seen people up and down the country opt for weight-loss jabs to give them a helping hand. Drugs from the likes of Wegovy or Mounjaro all come with a laundry list of potential side effects of ranging seriousness - but there are some that are not well documented. Dentists are expressing their concerns about its impact on oral health, with cases of the jabs leading to tooth decay, dry mouth and bad breath. READ MORE: Shore Road Belfast: Everything we know so far after sudden death of woman READ MORE: 'I looked nine months pregnant but was battling horrifying condition' Nyree Whitley, the Chief Clinical Officer at mydentist, has confirmed there can be multiple side effects, even though some of them are indirect, and has come up with the ways you can tackle them... Some people taking weight loss jabs have reported changes in how things taste, and that instead they're left with a metallic or altered flavour in their mouth. The altered eating habits and metabolism that comes to those taking these injections are known to sometimes affect the balance of bacteria in the mouth. "This can influence diet choice and potentially lead to increased cravings for sweeter foods, raising the risk of cavities," explained Nyree. The change in your taste means you may completely lose interest in your favourite foods, and could start liking stuff you've previously avoided. "Some celebrities have reported that they simply don't enjoy the taste of food as much as they did before taking a weight loss jab," said Nyree, "and this seems to be a common side effect." Nausea and vomiting are two of the more common side effects of weight loss jabs. "If you've been sick, avoid brushing your teeth until at least 30 minutes afterwards as stomach acid can soften tooth enamel," said Nyree. "Brushing too soon can spread the acid across the teeth, leading to enamel erosion, your mouth may feel fresher but there is a risk of long term damage." Taking weight loss drugs can reduce the amount of saliva you produce, which of course will lead to a dry mouth. Saliva is essential for maintaining healthy bacteria levels and neutralising acid in the mouth, protecting teeth against decay. Nyree said: "If you experience a consistently dry mouth, you'll be at increased risk so it's important to address symptoms early." Acid reflex is another potential side effect of taking the fat loss jabs. It occurs when stomach acid can flow back into the mouth and can contribute to enamel erosion, increased sensitivity or the risk of cavities. Nyree said: "If you notice your teeth becoming sensitive and relief doesn't come from using a sensitive toothpaste, go and see your dentist." Stay hydrated Use a humidifier Rinse, don't brush after vomiting Keep up your brushing routine

Thousands of people are grabbing weight loss jabs to shed fat - but ditching their sweet tooth may not save them from a trip to the dentist. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up It comes as Google searches for 'Ozempic teeth' soared by more than 1,200% over the last month. Using medication including Mounjaro, Wegovy and Saxenda can trigger many side effects including weight loss, loose skin, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Now Nyree Whitley, a leading UK dentist, has revealed how the jabs could also affect your oral health. Here's FIVE "of the "Ozempic mouth" warning signs that the public has been urged to look out for. TONGUE CHANGES Your tastes and cravings may completely change while using the medication. Some Celebrities have recently reported that they simply don't enjoy the taste of food like before taking a weight loss jab such as Ozempic, and this seems to be a common side effect. Dr Nyree Whitley, Chief Clinical Officer at mydentist, explained: 'It is possible that for some, Ozempic may change or alter your taste. "This could mean that you notice changes in your preferred foods or eating habits – for example, you may find that you enjoy foods you previously didn't have a hankering for, or that you stop enjoying the taste of food as much." I LOVE my new 'Ozempic face' - it looks like I got jawline filler, I look 10 years younger AND I lost 60lbs NAUSEA A common side effect of taking weight loss jobs is vomiting which could cost you a trip to the dentist. Dr Whitley explained that this is because when you're sick, your teeth are more exposed to stomach acid which could be harmful to your teeth. Over time, stomach acid can cause erosion to the tooth's enamel, which could make you more susceptible to sensitivity and ultimately tooth decay. If you experience tooth sensitivity while using weight loss jabs, try opting for a sensitive toothpaste. But if this doesn't help to lessen any discomfort, contact your dentist for a check-up once you're feeling up to it just to make sure everything is ok. Dr Whitley said: 'One common side effect of Ozempic is nausea and vomiting and while this is an unsettling feeling, I'd urge anyone suffering from this side effect to refrain from brushing their teeth until at least 30 minutes after being sick.' Nyree continued: 'To manage discomfort and mitigate any nasty tastes that occur as a result of vomiting, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water in the first instance, and wait for at least 30 minutes before brushing your teeth or using mouthwash. 'If you don't leave enough of a gap in-between vomiting and brushing your teeth, you'll brush the acid around your teeth - and while the minty flavour will be refreshing, you'll ultimately damage your enamel, which could have a long-lasting impact on your oral health.' DRY MOUTH Ozempic can slow down your saliva production and flow, you may experience a dry mouth when using the weight loss jab. This can cause health issues because if you experience a consistently dry mouth, you'll be at an increased risk of developing gum disease or tooth decay. Nyree commented: 'Saliva plays an integral role in managing natural bacteria and pH levels in the mouth, helping to neutralise acids and keeping your teeth protected against decay. 'If you care about experiencing dry mouth as a side effect of using Ozempic, ensure you sip water little and often to encourage saliva flow. 'You can also chew on sugar-free gum to encourage saliva production, which you may find helpful.' BAD BREATH People using weight loss jabs might have bad breath due to their gut bacteria being thrown off balance. A side effect can also include sulphur burps which can have an 'eggy' smell which is unpleasant. Nyree explained: 'Ozempic slows down your digestion, your gut bacteria could also be thrown off-balance, leading to bad breath due to the increase in sulphur compounds.' ACID REFLUX Acid reflux is a burning feeling in the chest caused by stomach acid travelling up towards the throat. Heartburn can be very uncomfortable and it is not uncommon for it to be triggered by weight loss jabs. Nyree Whitley, Chief Clinical Officer at mydentist, commented: 'Some may also experience acid reflux, whereby stomach acid can flow back into the oesophagus and into the mouth, which could contribute to the erosion of your enamel – further increasing the risk of developing cavities or tooth decay. 'The first sign of this will be sensitive teeth – if this isn't helped by sensitive toothpaste, contact your dentist for a check-up.'
