Frank Cottrell-Boyce: ‘My seven kids have an infinite supply of conkers'
I moved back to Liverpool in the mid-1980s because I've always loved it here. It's a great place to live. It's full of story. It's the place I connect to.
We live in an eight-bedroom house in the posh part of north Liverpool. It's an interesting spot because it's not far from the mouth of the river. Historically, when ships came in the captain had to surrender command to a pilot and it would take another day to dock on the river. Captains would get fed up with this, so our suburb was built so they could disembark and walk home. I've always found that incredibly romantic.
It was by the sea. I don't think it was a sea captain's house but it might have been a navigator's. We don't have any quirky maritime features, but some of the houses still have widows' walkways where the captain's wife would walk up and down to see if she could see a ship coming in.
