LeBron James greeted Lakers coaches, took photo with teammates on Monday

A post shared by NBA (@nba) There is a lot of noise these days that LeBron James and his camp are unhappy with the Los Angeles Lakers and that it is just a matter of time before he asks to be traded. That noise has stemmed from a cryptic statement his agent, Rich Paul, made on June 29 when he decided to exercise the player option on his contract for this coming season. There is a very real chance that all this talk is nothing more than people running away with a couple of parts of Paul's statement and that there are no real hard feelings between James and the Lakers. He has been in attendance for their last couple of summer league games, and on Monday, he shook hands with several members of their coaching staff, as well as Rob Pelinka, their general manager. The superstar also took a photo with teammates Jake LaRavia, Jarred Vanderbilt, Austin Reaves, Jaxson Hayes and Deandre Ayton. #LakeShow in Vegas supporting the Summer squad 👏(📸: @NBA) It is very possible that Paul's quote merely put the Lakers on notice that James wants to win his fifth championship as soon as possible, and that if doing so isn't realistic, the door is open to James asking for a trade as a last resort. But as usual, people will make all types of speculation about James, especially given how polarizing and passive-aggressive he is.

‘Phantom fouls': Officials continue to be a bone of contention for fans in NBA Finals Game 6

The NBA finals seem to be heading to Game 7, but one thing hasn't changed over the six games so far: the fans' unhappiness with officiating. The Indiana Pacers, facing a do-or-die situation, have put up a dominant first-half performance, leading by 22 points at halftime. As the Oklahoma City Thunder face an uphill task to come back from 42-64 down, fans have been critical of the referees and their calls. Some fans called the NBA Finals 'rigged', others said that the league wanted to have a Game 7 in the series. Here are a few of the reactions on social media: 'NBA finals so rigged 😂😂 okc gonna smoke the pacers in game 7,' a fan wrote. 'tell me the @NBA want 7 games in this finals series without saying it. OKC could wipe the floor with Indiana every game but here we are. Game 7 incoming. shameless refereeing and commercialisation of sport,' another fan said. 'Every thunder trip down the floor: awful basketball… every pacers trip: refs blowing the whistle nba finals suck,' a fan said. 'This NBA finals game 6 is so rigged it's pathetic!' another fan wrote their opinion. 'NBA finals rigged? Last 2 drives for OKC phantom fouls are called. Replay shouldn't be required to overturn no contact,' a fan said.

Shaquille O'Neal targeted by memers after getting a portable toilet on Inside the NBA set: 'Wolves with no ball movement, but Shaq with bowel movements'

The playoffs were supposed to be the main topic of discussion on the TV show Inside the NBA , but it was sports analyst and former basketball player Shaquille O'Neal who stole the limelight in the last Tuesday episode with his potty break—right on the set, but in a portable toilet this time. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In the episode before that, Shaq was compelled to leave the set to answer the call of nature. Internet cracks up as there's a portable toilet for Shaq on Inside the NBA set Shaquille O'Neal had to miss screen time and rush from the set to take a potty break on Inside the NBA. Making it easier for Shaq the next day—and in case any of his co-hosts were in need—the producers placed a portable toilet on the set. And it was time for them to take it to the next level. Shaq made full use of the portable toilet, complete with added sound effects and more, making the internet ROFL. Shaq even turned around to show some toilet paper hanging out of his pants. Hilarious memes flooded the internet as social media couldn't stop laughing over Shaq's toilet break. Sharing a meme featuring a portable toilet, an X user wrote, 'God bless these men and nba on tnt the Porto potty presence on this set is terrifying.' Targeting the Minnesota Timberwolves, which lost to the Los Angeles Lakers recently, another commented, 'Wolves with no ball movement, but Shaq with the bowel movements!' One more tweeted, 'ShaqFu, more like ShaqPoo! You guys are too funny! Love your show! And thanks for always having a sense of humor! #NBAONTNT.' A comment also read: 'No one combines sports and comedy like these guys.' Another read: 'When you got to go. You got to go.' Amid all this, Shaq's co-hosts Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson Jr., and Kenny Smith simply savored the fun. Smith pointed out that they had gone way above the limits on the show with the toilet episode. Shaq had revealed that he had too much olive oil to clean his gut, which led him to rush for a toilet break. Also Read: The show will now move to ESPN next year after wrapping up the final season on TNT. On the hardwood, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday in Game 2 of the first-round matchup of the playoffs.

Kevin Durant derides NBA All-Star criticism: 'It's more fun to complain about the NBA than to actually watch it'

Kevin Durant has joined the chat. The 15-time All-Star and active online poster took the time to weigh in on the NBA's greatest controversy: what to do about the All-Star weekend. The NBA has tried for years to breath life back into the best-of competition, but Sunday's edition received a lot of criticism for the format and a broadcast overrun with Kevin Hart bits. Durant, potentially sick of the discourse, took to X on Monday to jokingly (we think) propose an extreme reaction: cancel the event entirely. (Unfortunately, sarcasm does not travel well on the Internet.) "I think it's more fun to complain about the NBA than to actually watch it," Durant wrote. "Crazy, cancel all star weekend and let's just give everybody a break since we're so miserable around this time..." I think it's more fun to complain about the nba than to actually watch it. Crazy, cancel all star weekend and let's just give everybody a break since we're so miserable around this time… — Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) February 17, 2025 Durant participated in Sunday's game as part of Team Shaq's OG All-Stars, which cruised to victory in the finals after nearly falling to Team Candace's Rising Stars in the semifinals. The weekend had its moments: Mac McClung's perfect run to a dunk contest three-peat was so good that it inspired some actual All-Stars to (maybe) join the competition next year. But there's been general consensus about a pretty lame All-Star weekend that left a couple of winners and a lot of losers. As he often does, Durant doubled down on his take, going on a commenting spree in response to X users who disagreed. Winning a chip is the only thing that matters along side trades and free agency. Now mfers care about all star weekend lol ok — Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) February 17, 2025 All star games used to be a layup line back n the day until late in the game then the intensity would ramp up. The 3 point shot and how many we take, by time u ready to ramp up somebody down 40 already. They didn't have to worry bout that as much back n the day. They can shoot… — Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) February 17, 2025 Only thing matters is rings and legacy. — Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) February 17, 2025 At one point, Durant clarified that his criticism was more about the fact that NBA fans love to complain. "My point is, fans complain about EVERYTHING. Like nothing is good enough for the fans right now. Only thing they enjoy is playoffs, trade deadline, free agency and when players beef with each other lol," Durant said. I get it. My point is, fans complain about EVERYTHING. Like nothing is good enough for the fans right now. Only thing they enjoy is playoffs, trade deadline, free agency and when players beef with each other lol — Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) February 17, 2025 In response to one fan who said that the discourse was a form of "constructive criticism," Durant had a cheeky reply: "And I am constructively criticizing your criticism." And I am constructively criticizing your criticisms… — Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) February 17, 2025 Never change, KD.
