Kelly Ripa is Thankful Her Kids Don't Have a ‘Mountain of Debt': ‘They Are So Appreciative'
Kelly Ripa knows her kids are nepo babies — but she's also aware of the positives that come with the negative reputation. During the Tuesday, July 15, episode of the 'Not Skinny But Not Fat' podcast, the Live With Kelly and Mark cohost said she finds 'comfort' in the fact that her children with Mark Consuelos — Joaquin, 22, Lola, 24, and Michael, 28 — are graduating without student loan debt. "I think my kids feel, like, very fortunate in general," she told host Amanda Hirsch, noting how they feel knowing they don't have school loans to pay off. "There's, like, a comfort in knowing my kids got to graduate knowing that they weren't having to climb out of a mountain of debt. They are so appreciative and so grateful,' Ripa, 54, said. They've been married for nearly 30 years and now cohost Live together. Despite their fame, Ripa and Consuelos made an effort to give their kids a 'normal' upbringing and encouraged them to hold jobs and work toward their goals without much assistance. "I also think we kept their worlds really normal when they were young," Ripa explained on the podcast. "They always, from the earliest ages they could, had part-time jobs, always. And ... in their friend circle, they were like the only ones to have jobs." Michael is now a producer, writer and actor, Lola is a singer-songwriter and Joaquin is hoping to follow in his parents' footsteps after majoring in theater performance at the University of Michigan. He graduated in May. "Our children are fully aware,' Ripa said when discussing how her family is recognized due to their talk show status. 'They'll meet people on the street that will come up to them and say, 'I watched you grow up. It is such a pleasure to see you as an adult.'' She continued, "When my kids were little, they had the opportunity to come on and do, like, little segments ... and people got a glimpse into their lives. And then they grew up, and they move on, and they move out, and they move out of the country in some cases, and people don't get to regularly check in with them. And so I feel like, once in a while, it's important to sort of let people in because I feel like they had a group experience. My kids had a group childhood. It was like they had lots of aunties, lots of uncles, lots of grandparents.' Another picture taken by Sam showed Sunday looking radiant in a rose-covered frock as she stared down the camera. Sam is best known for his work on the screen, playing the role of Logan Hall in The Fabelmans, directed by Steven Spielberg. Sunday on the other hand has become a regular in the modelling world, appearing in campaigns for major brands such as Omega and Miu Miu - perhaps the origins of Sam's nickname for her. Despite scoring many modelling gigs lately, Sunday was initially roasted online last year over her runway debut at Paris Fashion Week. In October, she opened the Miu Miu Paris Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show, which was attended by the likes of Willem Dafoe and Hillary Swank. Sunday strutted in a white sleeveless dress - the same one from the campaign image - paired with grey leg-warmers and black peep-toe heels. While her mum Nicole showed her support both at the show and following her runway debut, many critics on the internet hit out at Sunday Rose's walk. Some people suggested she take runway lessons, while others simply complained that too many nepo babies think they can model. The young adults have known each other most of their lives thanks to their fathers working together in one of music's biggest bands. Mae McKagan, 25, a budding model and influencer, is the daughter of Guns n' Roses bassist Duff McKagan whom he shares with model and author Susan Holmes McKagan. London Hudson, 22, is the son of another head banging rocker and Guns n' Roses great, Slash. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, whose real name is Saul Hudson, shares London, a professional musician, with his ex-wife Perla Ferrar. Instead of focusing on the guitar and following his father's lead, London has decided to make his mark as a drummer. 'I don't want to live in his shadow … that's the main reason I don't play guitar or stringed instruments,' he said in 2018 on the Appetite for Distortion podcast. He is currently the drummer for a band called Return to Dust. The group is scheduled to crisscross the US on tour beginning August 29, as the opening act for Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace. Fans should not be surprised if they see London's devoted dad in the audience. 'It's very surreal to see him doing gigs and playing the way he is,' Slash told the Wall of Sound podcast in 2022. 'It's mind-blowing to see your little one up there doing that,' the rocker said. Their upcoming CD, Speak Like the Dead, will be released on August 1. Insisting there is no bad blood, the statement read: "Guns N' Roses announce the amicable exit of Frank Ferrer. "The band thanks Frank for his friendship, creativity and sturdy presence over the past 19 years, and wish him success in the next chapter of his musical journey." Guns N' Roses have weathered numerous line-up changes throughout the band's longstanding career. The most recent line-up includes vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, bassist Duff, guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank before his departure and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese. It added: "Frank first joined GNR during a show in June 2006 helping anchor the rhythm section during subsequent tours, including their recent outings featuring the reunited trio of Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan.
