Unprecedented violence rocks tropical paradise as brutal nightclub attack leaves multiple dead
Three people are dead, and 10 others wounded after a mass shooting erupted at a popular nightclub in the Turks and Caicos Islands early Sunday morning, an attack officials are calling the first of its kind in the British territory. The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force said the shooting occurred just before 3 a.m. on July 27 at the Hookah and Cigar Lounge in Providenciales. According to investigators, at least four suspects were involved in the attack, though no arrests have been made as of Tuesday. Police Commissioner Fitz Bailey described the incident as "deeply disturbing" in a statement to the Associated Press. At a press briefing, Premier Charles Washington Misick linked the shooting to gang-related violence and noted that much of the activity appears concentrated in Haitian communities. He urged members of those communities to cooperate with law enforcement and help identify how illegal firearms are entering the country. "What we're witnessing is unprecedented," Misick said. "This level of violence is not something we can allow to become normal. This is not a situation we should accept. It is not a generic situation, and we will do everything possible to stamp it out." Authorities confirmed that 10 people were transported to the hospital following the attack. Seven remain hospitalized with varying degrees of injury, and one person is in serious condition. Two victims were airlifted overseas for advanced treatment, and the local hospital was placed on lockdown to secure the scene and protect the injured. In a statement posted to its official Facebook page, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force condemned the shooting and urged the public to assist with the investigation. "This incident underlines the capacity and willingness of criminals to commit serious acts of violence against our citizens, residents, and visitors," the statement read. "The police force is urging anyone with information to continue to partner with us to bring these criminals to justice." A reward of $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Authorities have not yet identified a clear motive. Premier Misick reassured the public that the government is fully backing law enforcement and emphasized the importance of unity and resolve in the face of such violence. "My government is 100% behind the police. It is important that we do everything we can to stem the violence," he said. "At the same time, I want to appeal to the general public not to panic. We must not, as the commissioner said, retreat or cower in the face of those who want to despoil the good reputation of our islands." The tragedy comes amid renewed efforts by the Turks and Caicos government to combat illegal immigration. "Let me just cut to the chase," Misick added. "We are now seeing gangland-type slayings. A lot of this gang violence seems to be concentrated in our Haitian communities." According to the United Nations humanitarian office, an estimated 10,900 Haitians live in the Turks and Caicos Islands, accounting for roughly one-third of the total population. Approximately 80% live on Providenciales, the territory's most populous island, but only 20% have permanent residency status. "Let this be a warning to everyone—those who know something and say nothing, those who are aiding and abetting criminals, and those committing crimes," Misick warned. "This government is committed to ensuring that the Turks and Caicos Islands remain a safe place to live and raise families." Stepheny Price is a writer for Fox News Digital and Fox Business. Chris Brown released on bail and can resume world tour
US singer Chris Brown was granted £5 million bail by a court over an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub two years ago. Brown, 36, has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors described as an "unprovoked attack" on music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle in a London nightclub in 2023. The R&B singer has not yet been asked to enter a plea to the charge. He was not present at Southwark Crown Court when Judge Tony Baumgartner granted him bail. After being granted bail, the American musician can continue with his scheduled international tour this year, including in the UK in June and July, as part of his bail conditions. The Go Crazy singer must pay a £5 million security fee to the court, which is a financial guarantee to ensure a defendant returns to court and may be forfeited if they breach bail conditions. The tour will also see Brown travel to parts of Europe, the United States and Canada. He must surrender his passport if he is not travelling, Judge Baumgartner said. Brown must live at a specific address known to the court but is not allowed to visit the nightclub and he cannot contact Mr Diaw or apply for international travel documents. The singer must pay a £4 million security fee to secure his release from prison on Wednesday, and put forward a further £1 million security within a week, the court heard. He will next appear with his co-defendant, US national Omololu Akinlolu, 38, at the same court on June 20. Brown and Akinlolu have both been charged relating to the assault which allegedly took place at the Tape venue in Hanover Square in Mayfair on February 19 2023. Manchester Magistrates' Court heard last week that Mr Diaw was standing at the bar of the Tape nightclub when he was struck several times with a bottle, and was then pursued to a separate area of the nightclub where he was punched and kicked repeatedly. Brown was arrested at Manchester's Lowry Hotel at 2am on Thursday by detectives from the Metropolitan Police. He is said to have flown into Manchester Airport on a private jet last week in preparation for the UK tour dates. A case management hearing has been set for October 24.

R&B star Chris Brown released on bail after being arrested at 5-star Manchester hotel over ‘nightclub bottle attack'
R&B star Chris Brown has been bailed after being arrested over an alleged nightclub bottle attack. The American R&B singer was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent after being arrested at a 5-star hotel in Manchester last week. 5 5 Brown allegedly assaulted a man at a London nightclub in February 2023. The star appeared at Southwark Crown Court today and was released on bail. Brown was initially detained by Met Police Detectives just after 2am at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester after flying into the city on a private jet a week ago. He was held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, Central London, in February 2023. Brown was charged last Thursday. The 36-year-old appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on Friday charged with one count of grievous bodily harm. The court heard how Brown allegedly struck Diaw 'several times' with a bottle before chasing him across the bar then punching and kicking him alongside another person. The alleged attack was captured on CCTV in a club 'full of people', it was said. District Judge Joanne Hirst said the case was 'too serious' to be dealt with in her court. The Met said in a previous statement: ''A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. ''He has been taken into custody where he remains. "The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. This includes two nights at the Co-Op Live stadium in Manchester before performances in Cardiff, London, Birmingham and Glasgow in June. But it has now been thrown into doubt. The Sun's Brand and Culture expert, Nick Ede, has suggested the incident casts doubt over the R&B superstar's upcoming tour. He said: "The incident happened in 2023 but with this new publicity overshadowing his tour, his team may feel that they have to cancel. He is scheduled to appear at Southwark Crown Court in London on June 13, which is the third day of his world tour. Akinlolu is a rapper from Dallas, Texas, who has collaborated with Brown and Lil Wayne. He also goes by the names Fat Leopard and Super Hood. Police gave no details on what role Akinlolu played in the alleged assault but said he was charged in connection with the same incident as Brown. Brown was on tour in the U.K. in February 2023 when he launched an unprovoked attack on producer Abe Diaw, striking him several times with a bottle at the Tape nightclub in the swanky Mayfair neighborhood in London, prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said in court Friday. Brown then chased Diaw and punched and kicked him in an attack caught on surveillance camera in front of a club full of people, she said. Brown did not enter a plea and only spoke to confirm his name, birth date and gave his address as the Lowry Hotel, where he was arrested in Manchester early Thursday and taken into custody. Brown's representative has not responded to multiple requests for comment from The Associated Press.
