AI Circular Economy Conf 2026: Call for Abstracts Open

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer just a technological trend—it has become a driving force behind the shift from fossil resources to renewable carbon in the chemicals and materials industry. According to experts, this shift marks one of the greatest industrial transitions since the dawn of the industrial revolution and demands the most advanced digital tools available. AI is emerging as the key enabler of this monumental transformation. nova-Institute proudly introduces a landmark event that will spotlight the digital transformation shaping our material world: The AI Circular Economy Conference, taking place from 4–5 March 2026 in Cologne and online. This pioneering hybrid event will unite top innovators, researchers, and industry leaders to explore how AI is revolutionising circularity and sustainability in materials. The conference will delve into how advanced AI tools are unlocking the potential of renewable carbon from biomass, carbon capture and utilisation (CCU), and recycling: 'High-tech innovators are delivering cutting-edge AI solutions for science and industry.' 'Chemical and plastics producers are using AI to innovate more quickly, efficiently, and sustainably.' 'The agricultural and biomass sectors are using AI to identify new sources of raw materials and close the loop on material flows.' 'Cutting-edge applications of AI, including AI-assisted modelling of CCU processes and catalysts, optimisation of CO₂ capture, and the design of novel chemical pathways such as those involving electrochemistry.' 'Use of AI for process control and optimisation in depolymerisation, advanced waste stream sorting and feedstock analysis, as well as quality assurance of recycled materials.' Be part of this groundbreaking dialogue and submit your abstract to shape the future of AI-driven sustainability.

RMC 2025 to Feature 12 Expert Workshops on Sustainable Innovation

The Renewable Materials Conference (RMC) will be held from September 22 to 24, 2025, in Siegburg/Cologne, Germany, presenting cutting-edge solutions that replace fossil carbon with renewable sources, such as biomass, recycled materials, and captured CO₂. The conference, organised by the Nova-Institute, is expected to host over 500 international participants, 75 technical presentations, 20 panel discussions, and a dual-floor tabletop exhibition. A major highlight of RMC 2025 will be the addition of 12 expert-led workshops, offering attendees the chance to explore practical strategies, industry case studies, and forward-looking policies. These sessions are designed to complement the main conference, allowing participants to attend both seamlessly. Hands-On Workshops Across Three Days On Day 1, highlights include: Holcim's session on commercialising CO₂-to-chemicals solutions. Syklo's workshop on converting cardboard and plastic waste into bio-composites. PtX Lab Lausitz discussing policy support for CO₂-based petrochemical clusters. nova-Institute's startup workshop, guiding SMEs on business planning in the renewable materials space. Day 2 will cover: Fraunhofer UMSICHT's 'Air2Chem' project , focusing on CO₂-derived chemical production. nova's communication workshop on promoting renewable materials. HYDRA Marine Sciences & BASF's biodegradability workshop , clarifying how biodegradable materials integrate into the circular economy. Science Based Targets initiative, offering updates on corporate net-zero targets and renewable carbon integration. On Day 3, TNO (Netherlands) will lead a session on applying AI in polymer design for sustainable materials. nova-Institute will present practical case studies and methodology for Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) . A final workshop by nova and RCI will host policymakers and industry leaders to discuss strategies for accelerating renewable carbon adoption across Europe. Conference Features and Awards Beyond workshops, the RMC will host a high-level panel titled 'The Future of the Chemical Industry in Europe: Defossilised and Competitive – How Can This Work?' and present the 'Renewable Material of the Year 2025' award, sponsored by Covestro, celebrating six breakthrough innovations.
