Saudi airlines ranked most on-time globally in June 2025 as Saudia and flyadeal top charts
Saudia Group has once again cemented its position as a global leader in airline punctuality, ranking first worldwide for on-time performance in both arrivals and departures, according to the June 2025 report by aviation analytics firm Cirium. The report revealed that Saudia operated more than 16,700 flights in June, achieving a 91.33 per cent on-time arrival rate and a 90.69 per cent on-time departure rate—the highest in the world for both metrics. The achievement marks the second time this year Saudia has topped global on-time rankings, following a similar performance in March 2025. Saudi airlines top punctuality rankings Budget carrier flyadeal, part of Saudia Group, also earned recognition by ranking first in the Middle East and Africa for on-time arrivals, with a 91.77 per cent rate across more than 5,900 flights. The impressive results come during one of the busiest periods for Saudi aviation—coinciding with Hajj season, summer travel, and Eid Al-Adha holidays—highlighting the group's unwavering focus on efficiency and guest experience. Director General of Saudia Group Ibrahim Al-Omar said: 'Achieving exceptional on-time performance and maintaining operational excellence requires seamless coordination across all sectors and subsidiaries of the group. 'This accomplishment underscores our direct contribution to the objectives of the National Aviation Strategy, particularly in enhancing the overall guest travel experience.' The airline credits its cutting-edge digital systems, including AI-powered flight planning tools and predictive analytics, for optimising operations and enabling real-time responses to potential disruptions. The group also announced bold expansion plans, revealing that 188 new aircraft will be added to its existing fleet of 187 in the coming years. This doubling of fleet size will be managed by the Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC) at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah—the largest facility of its kind in the Middle East—which coordinates flight operations across all the group's entities.

Saudia, flyadeal rise high in Cirium's June punctuality rankings
JEDDAH: Saudia emerged as the world's most punctual airline in June, topping global rankings for both on-time departures and arrivals, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. In its latest report, the London-headquartered independent aviation analytics company said that Saudia operated 16,733 flights in June, achieving a 91.33 percent on-time arrival rate and a 90.69 percent on-time departure rate — a 2.41 percent increase in arrival punctuality compared to May's rate of 89.18 percent. The achievement aligns with Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a global aviation hub and a top destination for international travelers. Under Vision 2030, the Kingdom is investing heavily to boost private sector participation, expand connectivity, and reinforce its role in global aviation. It also supports the National Aviation Strategy's goal of enhancing the travel experience, which aims to target 330 million passengers annually, over 250 global destinations, and 4.5 million tons of air cargo by 2030. It also mirrors the airline's performance in June 2024, when it topped the rankings with an on-time arrival rate of 88.22 percent and a departure rate of 88.73 percent across 16,133 flights to more than 100 destinations. Flyadeal, Saudia Group's low-cost carrier, ranked first in the Middle East and Africa for on-time arrival performance, achieving a rate of 91.77 percent across more than 5,980 flights. The carrier's performance surpassed that of Saudia within the region. In a statement, Saudi Group said: 'The accomplishment reflects Saudia and flyadeal's unwavering focus in operational efficiency and excellence, achieved during the high-demand period of Hajj, summer travel, and Eid Al-Adha holidays.' In the airport category, Cirium ranked Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport as the world's most punctual large airport for the same period. The travel gateway recorded a 90.41 percent on-time departure rate and an 86.99 percent on-time arrival rate, outperforming major global hubs in operational efficiency. With 22,180 flights tracked, the Kingdom's capital hub served 109 routes operated by 59 airlines, showcasing Saudi Arabia's growing global connectivity and aviation excellence. Meanwhile, Dammam's King Fahd International Airport ranked seventh among medium-sized airports for on-time departures, achieving an 86.18 percent punctuality rate across 8,200 flights on 59 routes, according to Cirium.

How does Hong Kong's Cathay stack up among regional airlines in punctuality?
Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways ranked ninth for on-time performance among Asia-Pacific airlines in April, while its regional rival Singapore Airlines dropped out of the top 10 list, a flight intelligence service provider said on Thursday. Advertisement Cathay earned its ninth place by achieving an on-time arrival rate of 78.13 per cent, according to Cirium's On-Time Performance Monthly Report, which provides insights into airline and airport punctuality. Philippine Airlines topped the list with an 86.07 per cent on-time arrival rate, followed by Virgin Australia and All Nippon Airways with a rate of 85.44 per cent and 81.85 per cent, respectively. IndiGo, the lowest-ranked carrier in the top 10, managed 77.08 per cent. Cathay was the only Hong Kong airline that made it into the top 10. Cathay's monthly ranking among regional airlines was the same as that for last year in Cirium's annual review, while Singapore Airlines, which ranked third for last year, dropped out of the top 10 list for April. An airline's punctuality is based on the percentage of its flights that arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time, while airports are measured based on departure times.
