Former Clemson pitcher Chayce Kieck announces transfer to a Big Ten school

Former Clemson pitcher Chayce Kieck is heading north for the next step in his college baseball career. The right-hander announced Friday that he'll continue his playing days at Northwestern after entering the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month. Kieck spent just one season with the Tigers, where he saw limited action out of the bullpen. As a freshman in 2025, Kieck appeared in nine games and recorded a 2-0 mark but struggled with command and consistency, finishing with a 9.75 ERA over 12 innings. He allowed 19 hits, 13 runs, and five home runs, while striking out 11 and issuing five walks. Coming out of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, Kieck was highly regarded as a prep standout. Perfect Game ranked him among the top 500 players nationally and the No. 14 right-handed pitcher in Florida for his class. He was a four-time letterman, earned first-team all-state honors, and was named Northeast Florida Player of the Year as a junior. Baseball runs in his family, too — his father, Greg, played at Johns Hopkins from 1996 to 2000. Now at Northwestern, Kieck will look to tap into his potential and build on his freshman experience as he joins the Wildcats in the Big Ten. Clemson basketball makes the final 5 choices for 4-star forward Dean Rueckert

Clemson remains firmly in the hunt for one of the top wings out West in the 2026 class. Four-star small forward Dean Rueckert, out of Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, announced his top five schools on Thursday, with the Tigers making the cut alongside BYU, Utah, Stanford, and Washington. Clemson offered Rueckert in late May, and it didn't take long for the Tigers to earn a spot among his finalists. Rueckert is considered one of the most versatile forwards in the West for his class. The 6-foot-6 prospect averaged 18.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game last season, showcasing his ability to score at all three levels while making an impact on the defensive end. He's currently ranked No. 62 nationally in the 247Sports Composite and checks in at No. 24 among small forwards. Clemson head coach Brad Brownell and his staff have quietly made inroads in the 2026 cycle, and Rueckert has emerged as a priority target. As Rueckert moves closer to a decision, the Tigers are positioning themselves as a serious contender for one of the most skilled perimeter players in the class. Where Clemson football landed in Athlon Sports' 2025 season ranking predicitons

Clemson defensive line pair named one of college football's 5 best dynamic duos for 2025 Athlon Sports has released its projections for the 2025 college football season, and Clemson is firmly positioned among the nation's elite. The Tigers are ranked No. 5 in Athlon's end-of-season rankings prediction, highlighting their potential to make a serious run at a national championship this fall. 'The Tigers returned to the top of the ACC last season and are poised for a run at the national title in 2025,' wrote Athlon's Steven Lassan. 'Quarterback Cade Klubnik and one of the nation's top receiving corps are back, while the defense is loaded behind new coordinator Tom Allen.' Clemson rounds out a Top 5 that includes Texas at No. 1, followed by Penn State, Ohio State, and Georgia. The Tigers are one of several programs in that top tier Athlon believes have a legitimate shot at finishing No. 1 by season's end. Just behind Clemson in the Top 10 are Notre Dame (6), LSU (7), Alabama (8), Oregon (9), and ACC foe Miami (10). Of Clemson's 2025 opponents, LSU and South Carolina are projected to be the toughest tests, ranked No. 7 and No. 12 respectively. LSU returns quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and brings in a strong transfer class, while South Carolina hopes LaNorris Sellers can help cover up some question marks after a deep postseason push last year. SMU also cracked the Top 25 at No. 22, making them another key challenge on Clemson's schedule. Several more of Clemson's FBS opponents were listed in the Top 60, including Louisville (26), Georgia Tech (34), Duke (41), Florida State (42), North Carolina (52), Boston College (56), Syracuse (57), and Troy (100). That makes for a competitive slate, even by ACC standards. The ranking reinforces the growing optimism around Dabo Swinney's program heading into the fall. With a proven quarterback in Klubnik, an experienced offensive line, a reloaded defense under Tom Allen, and a receiver group that's being talked about as one of the best in the country, Clemson looks poised to build on last season's return to the top of the ACC. With the start of the 2025 season now less than 70 days away, Clemson is once again entering the year with legitimate playoff aspirations and the talent to back them up. Former Clemson guard Chase Hunter is one college basketball coach's 2025 NBA draft sleeper

The 2025 NBA Draft is two days away, and aside from the Duke Blue Devils with projected No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, there aren't many ACC programs with players who expect to be first-round selections this year. The Clemson Tigers won't see anyone drafted in the first round and perhaps not even the second round, though big man Viktor Lakhin made a pair of recent mock drafts from ESPN and Yahoo Sports as a late selection. At least one college basketball coach believes there's another Clemson star worth a look as an undrafted free agent. That's Chase Hunter, who spent six seasons with the Tigers and helped lead Clemson to only its second Elite Eight appearance in program history in 2024. Hunter's name was mentioned as part of a discussion with anonymous college coaches The Athletic (subscription required) recently asked to weigh in on potential second-round draft picks. One rival ACC coach highlighted Hunter and said of the Atlanta native: "Another one I like and mentioned to NBA guys during the year and didn't quite understand why people didn't like him. So smooth. Gets to the rim. He can play in pick-and-roll. He rejected us a couple times and got to his pull-up and made it look effortless. Good size for a guard. Can really defend. I did see a couple of times when physicality hurt him. But he was one of the best guards in the ACC. I would bet on him for the mix of toughness, athleticism, offensive skill that he is going to stick at least as a backup point guard." That's quite a compliment for Hunter, who surprised many when he decided to forgo the NBA Draft last summer and return to Clemson for another season. Hunter had career highs in scoring (16.5 points per game), shooting percentage (47 percent), rebounds (3.0) and steals (1.4). Clemson went 27-7 overall and 18-2 in ACC play, at one point climbing to No. 10 in the AP Top 25 and USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll in the regular season. Hunter finished his college career with 1,789 points across six seasons, good for third in Clemson history behind Elden Campbell (1,880 points) and Terrell McIntyre (1,839). Though no one expects him to be drafted, Hunter signing as an undrafted free agent would be a low-risk investment for a team that values the attributes rival coaches like the one above mentioned. Clemson is all over The Athletic's Top 25 ACC football players for the 2025 season

Clemson football will enter the 2025 season with no shortage of star power, and The Athletic's ($$$) latest ACC player rankings reflect just how loaded Dabo Swinney's roster is. Nine Tigers were named among the top 25 players in the ACC, with five of them ranked inside the top 10, including three in the top five and two in the top three. Edge rusher T.J. Parker leads the way at No. 1 overall after an outstanding 2024 campaign that included 16.5 career sacks, six forced fumbles, and a four-sack performance against Pittsburgh. He was also a key factor in Clemson's win over SMU in the ACC Championship Game. Fellow defensive lineman Peter Woods came in at No. 3. The 315-pound interior force recorded 28 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks in his first season as a full-time starter. The Athletic's Manny Navarro described Parker and Woods as 'a two-headed monster' that gives Clemson a major advantage defensively heading into 2025. Quarterback Cade Klubnik was ranked No. 4, earning recognition as the top quarterback in the league. Klubnik made a major leap in efficiency last year and enters this fall with 36 career touchdown passes, the most among returning FBS quarterbacks. His supporting cast only adds to his potential, with standout receiver Antonio Williams ranked No. 7 overall and recognized as the ACC's top wideout after leading the league with 11 touchdown receptions in 2024. Cornerback Avieon Terrell gives Clemson five players in the top 10. He landed at No. 8 after posting 58 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and two interceptions last season, while also establishing himself as one of the league's most reliable run defenders. Clemson's presence continues deeper into the list, with offensive tackle Blake Miller at No. 12. The veteran lineman has started 41 games in his career and was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2024. Linebacker Wade Woodaz (No. 16), safety Khalil Barnes (No. 18), and sophomore linebacker Sammy Brown (No. 22) round out the Clemson contingent. Barnes has led the team in interceptions each of the past two years, and Brown — a former five-star recruit — was last season's ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.
