Woman dies in crash on Sask. highway
A 66-year-old woman from Zenon Park has died in a collision involving a car and a truck on Highway 23 Thursday afternoon. Police say the crash was reported at around 3:30 p.m. east of Arborfield. Carrot River RCMP, along with paramedics and the local fire department, attended the scene, where the woman, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead. Her family has been notified. Police say the driver of the truck, who was also the sole occupant of the truck, was assessed by paramedics at the scene. RCMP say they continue to investigate with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

NSW Police investigate public shooting, car fire in Penrith
A man is in hospital after he was shot while sitting in a parked car in western Sydney last night. The shooting happened in Penrith, NSW Police say, just before 10pm. Emergency services were called to Hickeys Lane on reports of a shooting, where police officers found a man, believed to be in his 20s, with a gunshot wound. 'The man was treated by paramedics for a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital for further treatment,' the police said. 'His injuries are described as non-life threatening.' An investigation into the circumstances of the incident has commenced. A short time later, reports emerged of a burning vehicle in the nearby suburb of Claremont Meadows, which the police believe could be linked to the shooting. 'The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW personnel,' the police said. 'Officers from Nepean Police Area Command have established a crime scene, which will be forensically examined by specialist officers. 'While investigations into both incidents are in their infancy, one line of inquiry being examined is that both incidents are linked.'

Bus and digger collide near Colchester
Police are at the scene of a serious collision between a bus and a digger. Officers were called to Wivenhoe Road between Wivenhoe and Alresford, near Colchester, at around 10:35 BST. A road closure is in place and will remain in place for some Police said: "We would thank the public for their patience while our response to this incident continues." Woman hit, critically injured by vehicle in ByWard Market
A woman was hospitalized with critical injuries after she was hit by a vehicle in the ByWard Market Thursday night, paramedics said. Paramedics told CBC News they were called around 7:15 p.m. and transferred a woman in critical condition to hospital. In a post on social media Friday, police said the vehicle left the road and struck a pedestrian on the sidewalk near the west end of George Street. The woman's injuries were serious but non-life threatening, police said. Images from the scene show a SUV on the sidewalk near the Clarendon Tavern on George Street and heavy police presence in the area. George Street reopened in the area around 10 p.m. Police added there is no indication of criminality and the collision remains under investigation.

Reduced hours at Clinton hospital emergency department over the weekend
The emergency department at Clinton Public Hospital will see reduced hours over the weekend. According to Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, 'health human resources shortages' are to blame. The emergency department will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday with regular hours of operation, 8 a.m . to 8 p.m., resuming Sunday. On Monday, June 30, the emergency department will close again with services resuming at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 1. Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 — paramedics will remain available to the community and will re-route to the nearest available emergency department.
