Maxx Crosby ranked among best franchise players in the NFL
The Las Vegas Raiders haven't had much success over the last few seasons, but one of the lone bright spots amid all the losing has been edge rusher Maxx Crosby. Crosby, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by Las Vegas, has been one of the better pass rushers in football since entering the league. The four-time Pro Bowler has tallied three double-digit sack seasons and led the league in tackles for loss in 2022 and 2023. Heading into 2025, Crosby will look to bounce back after an ankle injury cut his 2024 campaign to just 12 games. However, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox still ranks the Raiders' pass rusher as a true franchise player to build around. "Crosby is still one of the best veteran edge-rushers in the NFL. He has taken over for the likes of Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt as an elder statesman among true franchise players. While Crosby alone hasn't made Las Vegas a contender, he did receive a contract extension this offseason that briefly made him the NFL's highest-paid defender," Knox wrote. As Knox stated, Las Vegas rewarded Crosby with a three-year extension worth $106.5 million with $91.5 million guaranteed, making him one of the highest-paid defenders in the league. Like most dominant edge rushers, Crosby isn't capable of carrying the Raiders. However, the Eastern Michigan standout has given the franchise a building block for the future and a ton of optimism. Las Vegas should be much improved this season, as the additions of Pete Carroll as head coach and Geno Smith at quarterback should make a huge difference. Crosby and the Raiders have their best chance in years to compete for a playoff spot in 2025. Ravens to sign pass rusher Mike Green to a 4-year rookie deal
Mike Green will not be a training camp holdout once he signs a four-year rookie contract with the Baltimore Ravens that could pay the pass rusher $7.5 million guaranteed. Baltimore selected the All-American pass rusher with pick No. 59, and reports are that the former Marshall star pass rusher and 29 other second-round picks were haggling over guaranteed money on the standard four-year deal. First-round picks usually have guaranteed four-year deals with a potential fifth-year option, but up until this past April, fully guaranteed contracts weren't the norm for second-round picks. That all changed when the Texans gave Jayden Higgins, the 34th overall pick, the first fully guaranteed contract ever for a second-round pick on May 8. On May 9, the Browns followed suit, offering Carson Schwesinger, the 33rd overall pick in the second round, a fully guaranteed contract as well. It was a touchy scenario for Baltimore, which had an urgent need for more explosion at the edge rusher position, so they landed the draft's most talented but questionable prospect. Last season, as a redshirt sophomore, Green led the FBS in sacks (17.0), tackles for loss (22.5), sack yardage (144), and tackles by a defensive lineman (84). His 17 sacks established a new Sun Belt Conference record. This article originally appeared on Ravens Wire: Mike Green signs four-year rookie deal with the Baltimore Ravens

Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt checks in at No. 2 among all pass rushers in NFL
For years, the conversation of who the best pass rusher in the NFL is has come down to the Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett and the Pittsburgh Steelers' T.J. Watt. Both players are elite at their position, and the fact that they both play in the AFC North just makes it tougher to compare since they see so much of each other. When it comes to ranking the two of them, both sides can make a strong case for their guy being No. 1 and love to try and punch holes in the game of the other guy. ESPN recently put out their ranking of the top pass rushers in the NFL based on a poll of NFL executives, coaches and scouts and to no one's surprise, Garrett and Watt were No. 1 and No. 2. Advertisement Based on the voting, the lowest Watt was placed on a ballot was third and the lowest Garrett showed up was fourth. Trying to sort between the two is splitting hairs, but of course, we are biased and think Watt is better. And not just as a better pass rusher, but a better all-around defensive player. Bengals, Trey Hendrickson reportedly resume contract negotiations after edge rusher skipped minicamp
Defensive end Trey Hendrickson skipped the Cincinnati Bengals' minicamp this past week amid a contract dispute. The eight-year veteran is looking for an extension with his contract set to expire after this season. Hendrickson, 30, is set to be paid a base salary of $15.8 million but insists that he will not play this season under his current deal. He's seeking a long-term agreement that would put him among the NFL's highest-paid pass rushers. Advertisement However, not attending minicamp may have moved the negotiation process forward. Hendrickson and the Bengals have resumed discussions on a new contract, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports. How much of a gap exists between the two sides has not been reported. Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is currently the league's highest-paid pass-rusher after agreeing in March to a four-year extension that pays him an average annual salary of $40 million. Hendrickson's teammate Ja'Marr Chase is the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterback with a new contract that will pay him $40.25 million per season. Hendrickson isn't the only pass rusher looking for a new contract. Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons and Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt are also looking to top the pay scale at their position. One major issue is that neither player likely wants to be the first to sign, possibly reset the market and then watch a peer overtake him as the NFL's highest-paid pass rusher. Advertisement The Bengals' defensive end has registered 17.5 sacks in each of the past two seasons. That total led the NFL last season. (He finished behind Watt's 19 sacks in 2023.) Subsequently, Hendrickson was named to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl, earned first-team All-Pro honors and finished as runner-up in NFL defensive player of the year voting. Hendrickson has 77 sacks in his eight NFL seasons, averaging 13 over the past three years. Only Garrett has more during that span. He also has 220 tackles and 77 tackles for loss for his career. Cincinnati is also in a contract dispute with rookie Shemar Stewart, one of four first-round selections who have not reached an agreement with their respective teams. As a result, he left minicamp last Thursday.
