M60 closed due to 'police incident' near Manchester

A stretch of the M60 near Manchester has been closed due to a "police incident".All three lanes on the anti-clockwise carriageway were shut between Junction 12 for the M602 and Junction 10 for Trafford Park. National Highways North West said a diversion was in place and signs had been put up. The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed but Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for comment. Traffic cameras show police and fire and rescue crews on the carriageway. National Highways said: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. "Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."The agency said the diversion route can be followed by exiting the M60 anti-clockwise at Junction12 and keeping left to join the M602 eastbound. M25 closed following police incident

A section of the M25 was closed on the Kent/Surrey border earlier following a police incident, according to National Highways. The motorway was shut in both directions between junction five for Sevenoaks in Kent and junction six for Godstone in Surrey at about 17:30 BST, Surrey Police said. It has since been reopened, a police spokesperson said. Traffic was clearing, the travel monitoring site INRIX reported just after 19:30 BST. PROTESTERS have been spotted hanging off the side of a major Scottish bridge as a huge protest gets underway during President Donald Trump's visit. Emergency services raced to the Forth Road Bridge in South Queensferry this afternoon. 3 3 3 The alarm was raised at around 1.05pm after cops received reports of a protest starting to build. Police are urging motorists to stay clear of the area as they deal with the incident. Officers are currently at the scene and are "engaging" with those involved. It's currently unclear what sparked the protest. However, it comes on the day that President Donald Trump is due to land in Scotland for his four-day visit. The US President is jetting into Glasgow Prestwick Airport on Air Force 1 between 7.20pm and 8.05pm. Another no-fly zone is in place from 7.30pm to 8.50pm between the airport and his Trump Turnberry hotel and golf course. The force released a statement which said: "The Forth Road Bridge is closed due to a protest reported to police around 1.05pm on Friday, 25 July. "Officers are in attendance and engaging with those involved. "Please avoid the area." Traffic Scotland has asked motorists to use the Queensferry Crossing while police remain at the scene. Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, it said: "Users of the Forth Road Bridge are advised to use the Queensferry Crossing at this time due to a police incident" West Lothian Council also warned the public that the bridge is closed to anyone travelling "by bus, taxi, motorcycle or by foot". The local authority posted on Facebook: "For anyone who is planning on travelling over the Forth Road Bridge today by bus, taxi, motorcycle or by foot, the Forth Road Bridge is closed due to a protest reported to police around 1.05pm on Friday, 25 July." A MAJOR motorway is closed due to a "serious" police incident with delays sparking chaos for commuters. Part of the M2 between Strood and Chatham in Kent is shut. The coastbound stretch from Junction 1 to Junction 3 has been closed since 5.15am. Police, ambulance and National Highways workers are on the scene. Drivers are being diverted, with delays expected on the A2 near Gravesend. The Sun has contacted Kent Police for further information. 1
