BREAKING NEWS Erika Jayne's ex Tom Girardi, 86, reports to prison to begin 7-year sentence amid dementia battle
Erika Jayne 's ex-husband Tom Girardi has officially begun serving his seven-year prison sentence for wire fraud. The 86-year-old disbarred trial attorney, who was once one of the most powerful figures in California 's legal world, became inmate 43156-510 after surrendering Thursday to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, per Page Six. The attorney — whose Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star ex filed for divorce in 2020 after 21 years of marriage — was indicted in February 2023 for embezzling more than $15 million from his own clients at Girardi Keese. He pleaded not guilty to five counts of wire fraud but was convicted earlier this year. His legal team had tried to keep him out of prison, arguing that Girardi, who was diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimer's and dementia, should serve his sentence at a long-term care facility instead — but the request was denied. Now, it remains unclear how the prison system will handle Girardi's cognitive decline during his seven-year sentence. Determining the right facility for an inmate with mental or physical health issues can take weeks or even months, and officials declined to say where Girardi might ultimately be placed, per LA Times. Girardi turned himself in after his legal team argued that sending the disgraced lawyer to prison would be a 'de facto death sentence' for a man who no longer even remembers the crimes he's being punished for. 'For Tom Girardi, there can be no meaningful punishment,' Deputy Federal Public Defender Samuel Cross said at his sentencing hearing in June. But U.S. District Judge Josephine L. Staton wasn't swayed, citing expert evaluations that concluded Girardi still had the cognitive ability to function independently in day-to-day life. 'He currently retains his independence as to his activities of daily living,' she said, ruling that prison was the appropriate consequence. Girardi's mental health has been the subject of fierce debate since 2020, when his law empire collapsed amid accusations of financial misconduct. A Long Beach psychiatrist diagnosed him with Alzheimer's, prompting his brother to place him under a conservatorship — but prosecutors suspected Girardi was faking the extent of his decline. Even federal neuropsychologist Dr. Tracy O'Connor Pennuto, who evaluated Girardi during a six-week stint at Butner prison hospital, determined that while he wasn't malingering, he did suffer from 'moderately advanced dementia' with signs of Alzheimer's. Girardi turned himself in after his legal team argued that sending the disgraced lawyer to prison would be a 'de facto death sentence' for a man who no longer even remembers the crimes he's being punished for She testified that his long-term memory remained mostly intact, but his short-term recall was impaired. 'He will not improve,' Pennuto warned. 'He will continue to decline over time.' Girardi was accused of stealing settlement funds from numerous clients, including families of victims of the 2018 Lion Air crash, and using the money to bankroll his and Jayne's opulent lifestyle. While his crimes have left deep scars, Jayne has been largely cleared of any involvement and was dismissed from related lawsuits. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 54, has since moved on romantically and is now dating retired U.S. Army Special Ops agent John 'Shrek' McPhee — though her divorce from Girardi has yet to be finalized.

Former NCT member Taeil sentenced to three and a half years jail for sexually assaulting woman
SEOUL, July 10 — A South Korean court has sentenced Taeil, a former member of the K-pop boy band NCT, to three and a half years in prison after finding him guilty of committing a sexual offence. According to the Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Central District Court delivered the sentence to the 31-year-old yesterday and ordered his immediate detention. Two other men involved in the same case were reportedly handed identical sentences and also taken into custody. The three were charged in March for sexually assaulting an intoxicated foreign woman in Seoul in June last year. They had initially been indicted without detention. In addition to the prison terms, the court reportedly instructed all three to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment programme, noting that the offence was serious as the victim had been inebriated and unable to resist. According to the report, prosecutors had sought a seven-year jail term for each of the accused. Taeil was removed from NCT in August last year following police investigations into the allegations.

Ashland County mother whose 6-year-old son was attacked by family dog while handcuffed sentenced to prison
ASHLAND, Ohio (WJW) — The mother of a 6-year-old boy who was handcuffed and attacked by a family dog last year was sentenced to prison Monday, according to Ashland County Court of Common Pleas records. Angelina Williams, 28, was sentenced to 20-plus years in prison for an incident that took place Aug. 17 at a Savannah, Ohio, home in Ashland County. She previously pleaded guilty to seven felony charges, including child endangerment, kidnapping and obstructing justice. Williams is serving consecutive prison terms adding up to between 23 and 28 and a half years, according to court documents. Local teen accused of raping mother and daughter Prosecutors said Williams, her boyfriend and uncle handcuffed the boy by the ankles and wrists as a form of discipline since the child refused to clean up after the dog. The boy somehow slipped when the adults were trying to put him in a chair and the dog attacked, officials said. Ashland sheriff's department video (as seen in the video player at the top of the story) shows deputies providing first aid to the child, who was then taken by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. The boy had reportedly been bit on the neck and ear, but was eventually released from the hospital. Man dead after fishing boat capsizes near Avon Lake boat ramp The boy and his older sister were visiting their mother at the time the attack took place. Williams lost custody of the two children in 2019. In a court appearance in August, Williams told a judge she did not know it was illegal to use handcuffs on a child. 'The dog is not even my dog. The cuffs are not even my cuffs,' Williams said in court. ' I didn't even know the cuffs were illegal or anything was wrong with it. My uncle told me it was OK.' Co-defendants Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown and the owner of the dog, Robert Michalski — both charged with child endangering among other things — are being sentenced on July 14 and July 21 respectively, court records show. EXCLUSIVE The hint Diddy judge gave that rapper still faces VERY long prison sentence
The judge who will decide Diddy 's prison sentence gave a hint that he will side with prosecutors and apply the full weight of the law against the music mogul. Judge Arun Subramanian denied Diddy's request for a $1million bond, arguing that, although he was acquitted of the most serious charges, the trial proved the rapper has 'a propensity for violence' and is a danger to society. The judge added that Diddy's 'violence was starkly depicted' in the 2016 footage of the rapper assaulting Cassie in a hotel hallway in Los Angeles. 'You full-throatedly in your closing argument told the jury that there was violence here, and domestic violence is violence,' Subramanian said as he denied Diddy's bond. 'You said this was a case that did have violence.' Indeed, Diddy's lawyers won the jury over by insisting that that Diddy was a domestic abuser, but not a sex-trafficker or the head of a criminal enterprise. Now the judge might use that same admission to justify a long prison sentence for his two convictions for transportation to engage in prostitution. Former federal prosecutor Jennifer Beidel told the judge's comments suggest he will side with prosecutors, who want Diddy to face four to five years - above the guidelines based on the sentences of other similarly situated defendants. 'He is saying he thinks that Diddy poses a danger to society,' Beidel said of Subramanian's comments. 'In the bond hearing, both sides did a guidelines calculation, and the government's was higher. I think the judge is probably signaling that he's gonna be receptive to some of those additions to the guidelines range, and when the guidelines range goes up, the sentence usually goes up.' Diddy's lawyers said that under federal sentencing guidelines, he would likely face about two years in prison. They pleaded with the judge to let the mogul await his sentencing in his Miami mansion. The judge declined the request and set a sentencing for October 3rd, though it's likely that date will be moved up in a hearing next week. Prosecutors already submitted letters by Diddy accusers as they objected to his bond proposal, including one from Cassie Ventura's lawyer saying, 'Ms. Ventura believes that Mr. Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community.' The state will likely submit further testimonies by alleged victims as they ask the judge for a lengthy sentence for Diddy. Locked up since his September arrest, Diddy has already served nine months. A jury of eight men and four women acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges related to allegations that he used his money, power and frightening physical force to manipulate girlfriends into hundreds of drug-fueled sex marathons with men. Diddy's defense team argued that the women were willing participants and that none of his violence justified the severity of the charges. His lead attorney Marc Agnifilo asked that he be released on bond immediately to await sentencing, saying the acquittals changed the calculus about whether he needed to be held. 'He's not going to flee. He's been given his life back,' Agnifilo said. Judge Subramanian denied it, saying Diddy — for now — had not met the burden of showing by clear and convincing evidence a 'lack of danger to any person or the community.' Diddy sat stoic as he heard the bond decision, then snapped his head toward Agnifilo and wrote several notes as the lawyer spoke. Finally Diddy raised his hand and waved to get the judge's attention. But he ultimately did not speak after consulting with Agnifilo. Leaving the courtroom for a final time, he paused to address relatives packed into rows of wooden benches who supported him throughout the eight-week trial. 'Be strong. I love you,' he added, putting his hands to his lips and pushing a dramatic kiss toward loved ones.
