Prize winner rejects ‘too perfect' dream home
A prize home winner has decided to pass on their immaculate new property, fearing even stepping foot inside might spoil its pristine allure. The winners described the Hamptons-style dream home as 'too white and too pretty', choosing to put it on the market before the property had even been transferred into their name. Set on an acreage parcel in Tallai, the luxury home will go under the hammer on August 15, offering another family the chance to claim the keys to the 2023-built property. It was promoted as a '$4m Hinterland Escape' by the RSL Art Union raffle drawn just last month. Marketing agent Ed Cherry, of Coastal, said interested buyers would even have the option to up their bid for the stunning two-storey fully furnished home to include an Aston Martin DB12 valued at about $600,000. 'When we met the winners they told us the kitchen of the new place is the size of their whole apartment,' Mr Cherry said. 'It was too white and too pretty for them, and they didn't even want to stay there for one night because they didn't want to mess up the sheets. 'They said, 'we don't want this win to completely change who we are, so we are going to keep living how we do now, and sell the home to allocate the funds to our retirement.' It means the next owners will score a picture-perfect prize home that has never been lived in, presenting exactly as it did for the original winners – right down to the crisply styled white bed sheets. The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home on a 6,862 sqm lot at 12A Duke Ct features a designer kitchen with stone benchtops, European appliances and a butler's pantry, flowing to an open-plan living and dining space with 5.9m high ceilings, louvred windows and a gas fireplace. Qld home earns six times the average income Perks include a home cinema with tiered seating, wine room, and upstairs retreat, while outside offers a large alfresco terrace with built-in barbecue kitchen and pool, all set amid manicured gardens and an orchard complete with fairy garden and two ponds. 'This really is more than just a home – it's a fully furnished haven where you can simply move in and start living a dream lifestyle.' Records show the property last changed hands on April 2024, when it was acquired by the Returned and Services League of Australia's Queensland Branch for $2.975m.

$3.2 million prize home up for sale a month after huge sweepstakes win
The winner of a prize home in Queensland valued at more than $3 million is selling the home just a month after they got it. A resident of Urunga NSW was announced to have won 66 Templeton Wy, Doonan, on May 14, in a prize draw run by the charity yourtown. With commitments outside of Queensland, the vendor decided to sell the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home at an upcoming auction. The house is nestled deep in the Noosa Hinterland accessed through a long driveway inside a private cul-de-sac. The home will be sold fully furnished, including furniture and appliances valued at around $200,000. At the Prize Draw, yourtown valued the home at around $3.2 million. Now, the home is being sold by agents Kess Prior & Ruth Venning of Hinternoosa Real Estate. 'It's north facing, it's flooded with natural light, it's absolutely beautiful,' Ms Prior said. 'It's like stepping into a new life.' The modern Queenslander was owned for nearly 10 years before being sold for the sweepstakes, offering an elevated position over the nearby bush. The house itself has a covered deck around every side, along with ducted airconditioning and a gas fireplace. Outside, garden lighting leads into a large pool, along with a cubby house near the back of the property. The home is less than 20 minutes from both Eumundi and Noosa Heads, and less than half an hour away from the coast's airport. 'Templeton Way is one of the best streets in the Hinterland,' Ms Prior said. 'I think it's gonna be a cracking auction.' The auction will take place from midday on July 18, with the first open home at 1pm on Wednesday, June 25.

Second chance to own Sunshine Coast prize home
A Sunshine Coast prize home will go to the highest bidder after its winners decided to pass on the luxury property. Overwhelmed by their multimillion-dollar win, the owners kept renting in Western Sydney and working fulltime as weighbridge operators. The contemporary four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 278 Mooloolaba Rd, Buderim, was the major prize in a Surf Life Saving Lottery drawn in September 2024. Dubbed, 'Hilltop Haven', the prize was valued at $2m including furnishings. The property last sold for $1.8m in 2023. It is marketed by McGrath agents Glenn McIntosh and Chris Pace and will go under the hammer on May 24. Winners Mana and Tracy Raeina, of Liverpool, said they were stunned to learn they had won, at first thinking the news was a prank. 'When we first walked through the doors to the beautiful home and the awesome view it was really overwhelming for me and the family,' Mr Raeina said. 'I've been in Sydney for a very long time where the traffic is so heavy, everyone is in a rush and you never have time to even have a conversation with anyone. 'It is a totally different atmosphere on the Sunshine Coast. The location and the beach are so beautiful and the people are laidback.' But despite the appeal, the family continued their old lives while they pondered what to do, eventually deciding to return to their native Cook Islands to enjoy an early retirement. 'My wife and I, we had our dreams already planned and we decided to sell the house. We wanted to build a home back in the islands and doing a 9 to 5 job would take us a very long time to get there. 'It will be a lifestyle that my family and I have been looking forward to for a very long time, and we are definitely ready to retire.' Mr McIntosh said the owners were a devout family who had invited their pastor to the home, where they engaged in prayer for guidance following their incredible win. 'They are very simple people who have never experienced this sort of wealth before,' Mr McIntosh said. He described Buderim as a 'jewel' of the stunning Sunshine Coast. 'Up here, it is like a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle.' The home on an elevated 782 sqm block has open-plan living zones flowing onto a large alfresco deck with a barbecue area and wide coastal views, overlooking the pool. PropTrack data shows the median house price in Buderim was up 5.8 per cent to a median of $1.275m.
