A new T-Mobile upgrade is coming, but it may not be better for everyone

T-Mobile has been making good use of its 5G network by offering home internet service, too – and it's been a hit in many regions. Now, the Un-carrier is looking to sweeten the deal even more with a new promo and what looks like an upgraded piece of hardware on the way. T-Mobile 's current go-to device for its home internet setup is the Arcadyan G4AR gateway. It quickly became a fan favorite for one simple reason: it includes external antenna ports. That gave DIY types and rural users a bit more flexibility to boost their signal. But the next version is on the way – and while it brings better performance, it also takes that one feature away. A leaked image shows the G5AR is capable of up to 2x the speed of the G4AR. I am assuming that's in ideal conditions, but still – not bad. It also promises lower latency (better ping) and improved reliability, both of which matter whether you're gaming, streaming, or stuck in a Zoom call. Images of the upcoming G5AR. And under the hood, it moves from the 3GPP Release 15 standard (used by the G4AR) to Release 16, which opens the door to a bunch of potential improvements, such as: Lower latency: The new tech allows for quicker back-and-forth between your gateway and the tower. Don't expect fiber-tier ping, but it should shave off a few milliseconds. The new tech allows for quicker back-and-forth between your gateway and the tower. Faster uploads via UL Tx Switching: This is part of "5G Advanced" and lets T-Mobile boost upload speeds using the same airwaves they're already using. Improved carrier aggregation: The new gateway should also be better at juggling multiple tower connections at once, which helps with both speed and consistency. Power saving features: New features like the "wake-up signal" (WUS) are introduced to improve the battery life of IoT devices and other battery-operated equipment. Now, not every feature in Release 16 is guaranteed to be implemented in the final device, but it's safe to assume T-Mobile isn't just releasing a new gateway for fun – real upgrades are expected. On the WiFi side, the G5AR is ready for the future with support for WiFi 7. That means you can get multi-gigabit speeds wirelessly – assuming your devices support it – and won't be bottlenecked by slow in-home networking. This time there are no external antenna ports. | Image credit – The Mobile Report But here's the bad news: T-Mobile is ditching the external antenna ports. Yeah, the feature that made the G4AR so popular among power users is gone. That means anyone who wants to use external antennas will have to take the device apart to get to the internal antenna connectors – not ideal. One last twist – T-Mobile is reportedly planning to offer this new G5AR gateway exclusively through its Amplified plan, which sits in the middle of its 5G Home Internet lineup. The All-In plan might not be getting the new gateway just yet. Why not? That part's unclear, but it could be because the All-In plan includes a WiFi mesh, and T-Mobile may not have a mesh-compatible G5AR setup ready yet. Yep, there's no sign yet of a mesh WiFi extender for the G5AR. The G4AR had one bundled with the All-In plan, so we might still see a mesh accessory launch later. But for now, it's just the main unit.

Verizon's promo is giving customers a pricey surprise

Sometimes a promo that sounds too good to be true ends up being... well, exactly that. And right now, Verizon is catching some heat online for a recent deal that didn't go as smoothly as promised for a bunch of users. The issue? An early upgrade promo where Verizon was supposed to cover the price difference when you upgraded to a new phone. Sounds simple enough, right? You bring in your old device, they cover the rest – done. But for some customers, things have taken a frustrating turn. One Reddit user said they visited a Verizon store back in May, signed up for the deal, and were told (verbally and in writing) that they wouldn't be on the hook for any extra charges. But… – minivatreni, Reddit, July 2025 In theory, Verizon 's promo credits usually show up over 1–2 billing cycles, as long as you stay on the required plan. But in these cases, apparently, the credits either didn't appear or got lost in the system somewhere. – Silver-Direction9908, Reddit, July 2025 Other users chimed in with similar issues – some eventually got their credits after multiple calls, but others are still waiting. –Mysterious-Bat7856, Reddit, July 2025 Some customers are being advised to go back in-store to try and get a rep to escalate the issue. But even that's not guaranteed to work quickly – it still depends on internal ticketing and whether support teams follow through. – Bluudream__, Reddit, July 2025 So, what's really going on here? Glitch? Rep error? Miscommunication? Possibly all of the above. One Verizon rep even claimed it's been a known issue internally. – Think-Psychology845, Reddit, July 2025 So yeah, long story short? Always double-check the fine print, if possible, get everything in writing and don't blindly trust what a rep says – even if they sound 100% sure. Because sometimes, even with promises, getting what you paid for can be way harder than it should be. Once something hits your bill, fixing it can be a long and exhausting ride. Baby Jack Blues Is the Star of Justin Bieber's New Album Photoshoot

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." At the stroke of midnight, Justin Bieber dropped his seventh studio album, Swag, less than 24 hours after he announced the project with a collection of billboards across the world. And from the looks of it, the release is being treated as a family affair. To support the album, Bieber posed for a series of promotional shots alongside his wife, Hailey, and their nearly-one-year-old son, Jack Blues, who totally steals the show. The black-and-white images were captured by Renell Medrano, and they were taken inside of a rustic wooden barn with a floral-printed couch sitting in the middle of it—and nothing else. In the photos, Bieber plays with his baby boy, holding him over his shoulders, standing him up on his lap, and affectionately carrying him. The 'Ghost' singer goes shirtless, sporting a pair of baggy jeans that are drooped low to reveal a pair of white pinstripe shorts underneath. Meanwhile, Baby Jack takes a cue from his father and wears only a white diaper. For her cameo, Hailey sticks to the minimal dress code too, appearing in one shot where she wears a white tank and jeans, while holding Jack Blues and standing behind her hubby. This is the first release from Bieber since he dropped Justice in 2021, which debuted at the top of the Billboard chart and featured singles like 'Holy' and 'Peaches.' He supported the album with the subsequent Justice World Tour, which was cut short when Bieber faced a series of health issues. While taking a musical hiatus, the pop superstar welcomed his first-born with Hailey back in August 2024, and the pair have since shared a few glimpses of the toddler on their social media. Upcoming T-Mobile Tuesdays gift will make summer more bearable

If there is one thing that can take the edge off the blistering heat, it's a cool drink, but a chilled beverage isn't always readily available when you are out and about. To keep you from feeling parched, T-Mobile may soon start distributing temperature-retaining bottles as part of the next Tuesdays' any given time, you are likely to find T-Mobile running a promo for freebies, but sometimes those free items come in the form of digital perks or subscriptions. Nothing compares to the joy of a physical gift, though, and T-Mobile makes them extra special by being season-appropriate. That's also true for the upcoming gift. The next T-Mobile Tuesdays freebie is this water bottle. | Image Credit - The Mobile Report According to images shared by The Mobile Report , the insulated water bottles will be black with an inconspicuous T-Mobile "T" logo at the bottom and a splash of magenta at the top. There's even a pop-out integrated straw, but you can also open the spring-loaded lid and drink from the spout. The bottle will likely arrive at stores later this month. | Image Credit - The Mobile Report The capacity of the bottle is not known, but it looks to be the perfect size — neither so big that it will be difficult to carry around nor so small that it won't hold enough water. It's not clear when these will be available, but July 22, the Tuesday after the next, looks like a likely date. In any case, it will pop up in T-Life when the time comes, so keep an eye out and don't forget to claim it in the have to go to a T-Mobile -owned store to grab your bottle. You may want to call ahead and inquire about availability, as stores tend to run out quickly. Customers may not love everything that T-Mobile does, but it's gestures like these that help it to grow.
