'F1 The Movie' shot scenes at Florida restaurant, Rolex 24. When is the film in theaters?

Ready to see Daytona Beach on the big screen? The action-packed "F1 The Movie" not only features high-speed racing and Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, but also two iconic spots in Florida. The Apple Original Film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, was made in collaboration with Formula 1 and includes footage from real F1 events like the 62nd Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach. Scenes were also shot at Pappas Drive-In & Family Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach, which was destroyed by an overnight fire weeks after filming, in March 2024. Find out where else in the U.S. the film was shot, who will appear alongside Pitt and Idris, and if rumors of a $300 million budget are true. According to IMDb, the "F1" features: Brad Pitt Damson Idris Kerry Condon Javier Bardem Tobias Menzies Simone Ashley Liz Kingsman Kim Bodnia Joseph Balderrama Lewis Hamilton and more Starring Brad Pitt, "F1" releases in theaters and in IMAX internationally on June 25 and on June 27 in North America. If you can't wait to see the movie, fans in the United States and Canada can catch it early during limited, exclusive showtimes on June 25. Check your local theater for "F1 The Movie: Early Access" showings. Although it is being released in theaters, "F1" is an Apple Original Film made in collaboration with Formula 1. Apple TV+ has a page dedicated to "F1" which prompts visitors to start a free trial under "How to Watch," so it is likely the film will eventually be available on the streaming service sometime after its theatrical run. "F1" has received primarily positive reviews among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a 'Tomatometer' score of 85 percent, as of June 18. The movie budget for Brad Pitt's "F1" was previously reported at $300 million, however, multiple people involved in the production, including producer and Ferrari F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, have come out to say the total is "inaccurate." Joseph Kosinski, director of "F1" and producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Deadline in July 2024 the budget cost was overreported. "It's completely, unfortunately, tens of millions of dollars out of whack in the wrong direction, and in the right direction for us," Bruckheimer said, stating rebates in different filming locations helped lower costs. "Plus, we've raised more money for our car [through sponsorship] than some Formula 1 teams. You take that all into consideration and it really drops that number quite a bit lower than what people would think," he added. In terms of a more accurate picture of the budget, Bruckheimer told Deadline that they couldn't give a number because "that's Apple's money and they can talk about it." Kosinski mentioned that he's seen the budgets for movies he's worked on being overreported, but never had the total be off by this much. 'F1' was filmed in a lot of places around the world. According to IMDb, there were filming locations in Hungary, the UK, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands, Abu Dhabi, Belgium, Japan, Las Vegas, Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach. The Florida scenes of the movie were filmed at the Daytona International Speedway and at Pappas Drive-In & Family Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach. Pappas was destroyed by an overnight fire weeks after filming, in March 2024. Some of the scenes in the 'F1' movie were filmed at real Formula One racing events, like the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Here are the Formula One racing events that the movie will have scenes from: F1 practice ahead of the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, in October 2022 Las Vegas Grand Prix in November 2023 62nd edition of the Rolex 24 endurance race at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach in January 2024 British Grand Prix. According to USA TODAY, Pitt and his real-life girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, were spotted July 5, 2024, walking in the paddock during the F1 event at Silverstone Circuit in Northampton, England. PHOTOS: 'Days of Thunder,' 'F1': 2 blockbusters that put Daytona racing front and center

It's been a while since a big Hollywood production made the Daytona International Speedway and the Daytona Beach area such an important part of the movie. "F1," the latest blockbuster starring Brad Pitt and made in part by the team behind 2022's hit "Top Gun: Maverick," is now in theaters nationwide, and features thrilling racing sequences at the venue, and scenes filmed at locations locals will recognize. Pitt and fellow cast members filmed scenes the Speedway and were even spotted at Pappas Drive-In & Family Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach, as well as at Christina's Coin Laundry. Shortly after filming scenes for 'F1' in January 2024, Pappas was destroyed by an overnight fire three months later. Another film to heavily involve Daytona Beach and the Speedway was 1990's "Days of Thunder," starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. A movie that not only featured the area's iconic locations, but whose characters take much inspiration by NASCAR legends with deep connections to Daytona, such as Dale Earnhardt, Bill France Jr. and others. The action-drama stars Cruise and Kidman — who met on the set, including shooting at the Speedway. Their marriage was one of the most celebrated of the 1990s but ended in 2001. In both its production and critical acclaim, "Days of Thunder" also had its ups and downs. Infighting between the producers and director led to a three-month delay in the completion of filming, swelling its budget to $60 million from the original $35 million. While it has just a 38% Rotton Tomatoes critics' rating, it has a fan base, including Quentin Tarantino, who called it his favorite racing movie. Costars include Robert Duvall and Randy Quaid. Irish hoop Tom Sherry savours first Australian Group 1 triumph with Tashi in Tatt's Tiara at Eagle Farm

The unique racing journey of Tom Sherry took an incredible twist as he became the latest former Irishman to become a Group 1-winning jockey Down Under. Sherry scored the Group 1 Tatt's Tiara on Peter Snowden-trained mare Tashi to break into the Group 1 club, seven years after arriving in Australia without a job. When Sherry was a teenager in Ireland, he was handed a four-year suspension by racing authorities after he returned a positive in-competition sample to a metabolite of cocaine but the suspension was later slashed. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. One thing led to another and he became Mark Newnham's star Sydney apprentice, blazing a trail which culminated in his first Group 1 at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Irish eyes were smiling at Eagle Farm, only seven months after fellow former Irish jockey Robbie Dolan won the Melbourne Cup. Sherry has come a long way since scoring his first career winner in Dundalk, Ireland, in 2017. 'It's crazy, it feels like a little bit of a weight has been lifted off my shoulders,' Sherry said. • What the jockeys said: 2025 Tattersall's Tiara 'Things like this don't really happen to people like me, I'm very grateful. 'I have worked really hard, trying to get to this moment. 'Winning a Group 1 is a big deal for me, for the lad from Ireland. 'It's been a long time coming, trying to win a Group 1, but the stars aligned today. 'We have had a tough year but when stuff like this happens, it makes it all worthwhile. 'Mark Newnham was a massive figure in my life, a father figure, and going from being an apprentice to a senior jockey was a huge thing for me. 'There is a saying that when mares are in form, they keep producing, and that's exactly what has happened this campaign. 'Tashi has always been super consistent.' Tom Sherry kisses the Tatt's Tiara trophy. Picture: Trackside Photography Tashi started at $7.50 in the Tatt's Tiara after being agonisingly close to victories in her previous three races, finishing runner-up in each. But she had the killer punch on Saturday, roaring home over Rob Heathcote's Queensland galloper Abounding ($19) and Chris Waller's mare Olentia ($31). Tony Gollan's well-backed favourite Floozie ($3.20) had her chance but finished fifth, the first time she has been beaten in five runs for Gollan. Snowden was emotional post-race, with Tashi raced by the Altomonte family which had patriarch George Altomonte pass away last year. 'I'm so proud of this mare and also of Tommy Sherry who delivered an absolute peach,' Snowden said. 'I'm thrilled for Tom, he came up here yesterday to get ready for this race so I knew he wouldn't be late today. 'But I think George Altomonte rode this mare from above today.'

Angela Jones receives praise from Rob Heathcote after bringing up 100 winners for season at Eagle Farm

As star young Queensland jockey Angela Jones cracked her 100th winner for the racing season, trainer Rob Heathcote had the words of another top trainer ringing in his ears. Jones, who hails from country Charters Towers and had her family watching trackside at Eagle Farm, produced a typically cool ride to score the first race on Amuseantes for Heathcote. It didn't take Jones long to raise the bat for her ton of national winners this season, after she started the day on 99.5 winners. After watching Jones produce an ice-cool ride to steer Amuseantes ($14) to victory in the QTIS 3YO Fillies Plate, Heathcote was full of superlatives. 'I heard Tony Gollan interviewed about Angela Jones maybe four or five months ago, when she had just given one of his horses a brilliant steer,' Heathcote said. 'Tony said something about Angela that has always stuck with me. 'He said that not only is she an enormous talent, she is a beautiful person. 'And that just comes through in her riding. 'She never panics, she never gets high anxiety and she is so patient and beautifully balanced. 'I mean look at that ride (on Amuseantes), she won that race for me.' Angela Jones lands an early blow on Tattersall’s Tiara Day, slicing through the field aboard AMUSEANTES for Rob Heathcote. Could this be the start of a massive day for the rising star? ðŸ† #QLDisRacing — RaceQ (@RaceQLD) June 28, 2025 Jones was thrilled to score her 100th winner, but it was a surprise to her that it came in the first race. 'This filly was one of the few maidens in the race, so I didn't think she could win today,' Jones said. 'But she probably should have got her maiden out of the way by now and she did everything right today.' Meanwhile, James McDonald said he wished the Group 1 JJ Atkins was still to come after the dominant win of Chris Waller 's two-year-old colt Autumn Boy in the Listed Tatt's Stakes (1400m). The JJ Atkins has already been run and won – by Queensland colt Cool Archie – but McDonald is sure Autumn Boy would have been hard to beat if he had contested it. Autumn Boy, a young son of former Group 1 champion The Autumn Sun, started favourite in the Tatt's Stakes and didn't have the easiest run but was still too good. Autumn Boy 'leaves' them chasing in the Listed Tatt’s Stakes for the two-year-olds... and remains unbeaten! ðŸ‚ @cwallerracing @mcacajamez @BrisRacingClub — SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) June 28, 2025 McDonald is predicting the youngster can go onto big things in the spring after he made it two from two. 'He is a beautiful horse, he is lucky the JJ Atkins is not in another two weeks as he could have been winning that,' McDonald said. 'He is a very promising horse and he is only going to get better and better.'
