CT state police charge 19-year-old in three-car crash that seriously injured herself, truck driver
A teenager was arrested this week in connection with a three-vehicle crash in June 2024 on Route 2 in Preston that seriously injured her as well another driver and left a third person with minor injuries. Daniechka Garcia-Martinez, 19, of Norwich turned herself in after troopers obtained a warrant for her arrest following an investigation that reportedly found she was at fault for the serious crash, according to Connecticut State Police. She faces charges of second-degree assault, reckless driving, failure to drive in proper lane and operating a motor vehicle without a license. According to the warrant affidavit, emergency crews responded to reports of the crash on June 28, 2024, around 2 p.m. Garcia-Martinez, who was driving a 2008 Honda Accord west in the right lane, crossed the fog line in the right shoulder, leading to one of her passenger side tires striking a curb, the warrant affidavit said. The vehicle then veered back across the right lane and to the left, striking a 1989 International S Series 1754 truck that was headed west in the left lane and began to move into the right lane, state police wrote. The Honda then spun out of control in front of the truck. A 2023 Ford Bronco being driven east then collided with the driver side of the Honda, the warrant affidavit said. The Honda then settled along a metal cable guardrail. The truck that had been struck was now partially in the eastbound lane where it struck the rear driver side of the Bronco, the warrant affidavit said. The truck then left the road out of control and struck multiple trees. According to the warrant affidavit, the truck driver and Garcia-Martinez were trapped in their vehicles after the collision. They each suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries, state police wrote in the warrant affidavit. The investigation found that Garcia-Martinez did not have a license to drive and was operating by herself with only a permit, the warrant affidavit said. State police investigators said she was going faster than the truck when she passed it on the right and left the road, where she hit a curb, causing her to lose control of the Accord, according to the warrant affidavit. Garcia-Martinez is free on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on July 22.

Bismarck man sentenced for fleeing law enforcement, crashing vehicle in Jamestown
Jun. 21—JAMESTOWN — An 18-year-old Bismarck man who led law enforcement on a pursuit that started on Interstate 94 and ended in a two-vehicle crash in Jamestown was sentenced recently in Southeast District Court in Jamestown. Jamie Ray Barnes pleaded guilty to fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless endangerment and theft of property, Class C felonies that were later deemed misdemeanors, and aggravated reckless driving, a Class A misdemeanor. Charges of criminal vehicular injury, persons under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any other drugs or substances not to operate a vehicle, prohibited acts-more than a half ounce of marijuana and driving while license was suspended or revoked were dismissed in exchange for guilty pleas to the other charges. Barnes was accused of taking a vehicle valued between $1,000 and $10,000, failing or refusing to bring the vehicle he was driving to a stop or fleeing or attempting to elude when a pursuing police vehicle or peace officer gave a visual or audible signal to bring the vehicle to a stop, recklessly creating a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death to another and driving a vehicle recklessly in disregard of the rights or safety of others on May 10. Justin Blinsky, assistant chief of police for the Jamestown Police Department. NFL Draft flop Shedeur Sanders was stopped by cops for speeding two weeks before getting caught driving over 100mph in Cleveland
The revelation that Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders had been caught speeding by police in the city didn't come as a surprise to law enforcement. Yesterday, it was revealed that Sanders was pulled over in the suburb of Strongsville on Tuesday by authorities who issued a citation. The rookie quarterback out of Colorado was clocked driving at 101mph, 41 miles over the posted speed limit. Nearly a day later, it's been revealed that this is the second time this month that Sanders has been stopped for reckless driving. Back on June 6, Sanders was stopped in another Cleveland suburb - Brunswick Hills - by the Ohio State Patrol. According to records, Sanders was pulled over for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone at 12:24 in the morning. A spokesperson for the team told that the team has addressed the citations with the rookie. "He is taking care of the tickets," team spokesman Peter John-Baptiste told the media outlet. For the June 6 incident, Sanders faces $269 in fines and court costs for his recklessness. As for the most recent ticket, he has the choice of either paying the $250 fine or fighting the fourth-degree misdemeanor charge in court on July 3. Sanders was tipped by many - his own father included - to be a top-five draft pick. But the former Colorado quarterback suffered one the most shocking slides in NFL history. He was eventually selected by Cleveland in the fifth round with the 144th overall pick - not before the Browns had taken ex-Oregon star Dillon Gabriel.
