Rob Ryan sees great potential in freshman linebacker Jadyn Walker
Jadyn Walker is a former three-star recruit and the No. 16 player in Michigan as rated by ESPN. Walker has an opportunity to make a name for himself this season on the college football stage. Walker was a dual athlete in high school playing wide receiver and linebacker, putting up great production at both positions and earning many honors. Last season Walker didn't see the field for USC football until the Las Vegas Bowl versus Texas A&M. The expectations are high for the redshirt freshman. Rob Ryan, a new member of the USC coaching staff, sees great potential in him. In a 247Sports USC feature, R.J. Abeytia breaks down the high expectations on Walker along with Rob Ryan's thoughts. "The Fan Club is growing at an exponential rate inside and outside the McKay Center these days. No less a linebacker expert than new position coach set the tone for an offseason in which expectations for the second-year freshman have skyrocketed. "Jadyn Walker is going to be tremendous," Ryan said. "He's the one. He's the best right now at getting into the block and getting off 'em. He's so physical, and he loves it. He loves football. He works every day. He's in our offices every day. "This kid, 'meteoric rise.' Well, yeah, he's in there with the best coaches, so not surprising us, but this kid loves it. He's going to be fantastic. He's got a linebacker body. He runs and hits. He does everything well, and he's going to jump off the charts." Ryan has played his role in developing Walker and setting him up to contribute this season. Abeytia also provided Jadyn Walker's thoughts on learning from Rob Ryan: "It's been great learning from him," Walker said. "He's really a players' coach. He's really good for us. We're blessed to have him. He's really funny in the film rooms. He makes everybody feel comfortable. He's amazing. It's great." Jadyn Walker has all the tools to succeed at USC. One of the most important traits he has: being coachable. He could be a huge X-factor for the Trojans this season. Rob Ryan's words carry weight;he has an an eye for talent, having coached multiple Hall of Famers Charles Woodson and Warren Sapp, plus potential future HOF-ers such as Demarcus Ware. Rob Ryan is the perfect guy to develop the next great linebacker in USC. Jadyn Walker is in fantastic hands. With Ryan by his side, he should live up to the high expectations set for him this season. Drake Lindsey taking Gophers' reigns as new starting QB
The Gophers football team will start fall camp soon, and redshirt freshman Drake Lindsey is the favorite to be the starting quarterback for the 2025 season. He threw for nearly 4,000 yards, 54 touchdowns and just three interceptions as a high school senior two years ago in winning an Arkansas state championship.
