The Richest Places In New Mexico As Revealed By Latest Census Data
The Santa Fe suburbs and surrounding area are home to several of the wealthiest towns in New Mexico. Not long ago, a study analyzed and identified the wealthiest places in Arizona. Continuing with states in the southwest, New Mexico is getting its turn to get analyzed. This study evaluated over 520 cities in the state in order to identify the richest cities in New Mexico. The way in which the cities were evaluated and scored each city's ranking is detailed below. Read on to find out what the richest city in New Mexico is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. What Are the Richest Cities in New Mexico? In order to assemble a list of the richest cities in New Mexico, several datasets were pulled from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey, and a four-factor scoring system was constructed to help identify the wealthiest cities in New Mexico. These were the four datasets: When it comes to Census data, for certain factors its numbers have upper limits. What is meant by that is, for example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of $250,000; any place with a median income above that is simply denoted as '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is $2,000,000, and anything above that is '$2,000,000+'. Lastly, for median property taxes paid, the upper limit is $10,000, so any amount above that is'$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean or average household income dataset is critical because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Below you'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in New Mexico and their respective dollar figures for each metric: The No. 1 richest city in New Mexico in this ranking is Las Campanas, a golf course community and CDP in Santa Fe County. It only first appeared as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. Las Campanas is west-northwest of Santa Fe, and is home to the golf course The Club at Las Campanas. This place has some serious homes. And it's actually bigger than one might expect, with 875 households. In Las Campanas, the median household income is $196,023, which is one of the highest in the state. The average household income is much higher, at $261,178. The median home value reported by the Census Bureau is over $1.5 million. Not surprisingly, Las Campanas has the highest property taxes paid in New Mexico, the median being $6,666 per household per year. The second richest city in New Mexico is Hyde Park. Like Las Campanas, this CDP only just appeared in the 2020 Census. It too is located in Santa Fe County, this time northeast of Santa Fe. This is a somewhat secluded place, which can be accessed by State Road 475, and is made up of a series of streets. It's much smaller than Las Campanas, with just 129 households. The median household income here isn't far behind that of Las Campanas, at $182,446. The average household income, though, beats the No. 1 richest city, at $286,089. The median home value is $1.1 million, one of the few places in New Mexico where it exceeds one million. The property taxes paid are high as well, at a median of $5,714 per household. Coming in as the No. 3 richest city in New Mexico is Paa-Ko. This is yet another CDP that only appeared in the most recent Census in 2020. And like the No. 1 wealthiest city in New Mexico, Paa-Ko is a community centered on a golf course, the Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club. This place is northeast of Albuquerque, in between the Sandia Peak Ski Area to the west and South Mountain to the east. This place has 311 households, making it over double the size of Hyde Park. The median household income here, however, is markedly higher than in Hyde Park, at $217,946 a year. The average household income is no slouch, being $234,386 per year. The median home value is a bit lower, but at $744,500 is still substantial for a New Mexican city. The property taxes per household is high compared to the state overall, at a median of $4,444, but less than the first two entries on this list.

The Richest Places In Arkansas As Revealed By Latest Census Data
The Bentonville suburbs account for several of the wealthiest towns in our list of the richest ... More places in Arkansas. A number of recent studies have looked at the richest cities in the U.S. South. Among the states analyzed were Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, and more. Looking west of the Mississippi River, this study will identify the richest cities in Arkansas. Arkansas has transformed over the last 50 years, with the Bentonville area especially experiencing a surge in wealth, now doubt due to some major corporate headquarters being there. So, read on and find out what the richest city in Arkansas is, as well as the top 15 wealthiest places in the state. What Is the Richest City in Arkansas? To define the 'richest city in Arkansas,' we sourced data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates (which is the latest data available), including median household income, mean household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid, and then analyzed and scored each one of these factors, assembling a list of the top 15 richest cities in Arkansas. In order to fully grasp the figures, here are some important things to note about Census data. The Census Bureau measures median household incomes up to $250,000, with households earning more being denoted as '$250,000+'. Similarly, the Census does this with median home value, which goes up to $2 million, with everything above that being expressed as '$2,000,000+'. Lastly, the same limits apply to measuring median property taxes paid, which go up to $10,000 and any amount above that is denoted as '$10,000+'. This is what makes average household income so useful in this analysis of the wealthiest cities in Arkansas. Unlike median household income, the Census Bureau provides mean (or average) household income with exact values for every city in Arkansas. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census that needs explanation is the Census-designated place — CDP. The Census treats CDPs like cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Arkansas. However, many of these CDPs might not officially be cities or towns. Often they're unincorporated communities, sections of townships, and what you might see as neighborhoods. Below you'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Arkansas and their respective dollar figures for each metric: Based on this four-factor metric of median household income, average household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid, the richest city in Arkansas is Goshen. This place is located in the Northwest Arkansas metropolitan area, an area that includes the major cities of Bentonville, Fayetteville, Springdale, and Rogers. This town consists of 779 households, and is southeast of Springdale. Goshen has a somewhat unusual employment breakdown for such a wealthy place, with the three largest industries being Retail Trade (13.8% of the workforce), Health Care & Social Assistance (13.6%), and Educational Services (13.3%), according to Data USA. Goshen has the highest median household income in the state at $177,604 per year. Its average household income is the second highest at $229,953, behind only Natural Steps (the No. 2 wealthiest place in Arkansas). According to Zillow, the median home value is $701,419, which is higher than the $616,800 reported by the Census bureau. Unfortunately, this makes Goshen have the highest property taxes, with households paying a median of $4,020 a year. The No. 2 richest city in Arkansas – Natural Steps – is smaller than Goshen, with 268 households. It is situated on Lake Maumelle, part of an ongoing pattern of lake towns ranking among the richest across all U.S. states. It is just outside Little Rock, to the northwest. The median household income here is $151,944, which is around $25,000 less than Goshen's. However, its average household income is $20,000 more, and the highest in the state at $249,260. The median home value reported by the Census Bureau is $443,900, which is more than double that of Little Rock. Property taxes are significantly lower than Goshen's. The median paid per household is $2,563 a year. The No. 3 richest place in Arkansas takes us back to the Northwest Arkansas metro area. Cave Springs is south of Bentonville and southwest of Rogers. It has a population of 5,495 as of the 2020 Census, up from 1,729 in 2010, which is some insane growth. Cave Springs, like Goshen, has an unexpected employment breakdown for its top three industries: Retail Trade (25.8% of the workforce), Health Care & Social Assistance (14.3%), and Manufacturing (9.47%). Cave Springs is a pretty big suburb, with 1,811 households. The median household income is $147,917. The average household income is $173,661. According to Zillow, the median home value is $557,642, substantially above the $431,300 reported by the Census Bureau. Property taxes here, while higher than average, are still cheaper than in No. 1 Goshen, at a median of $2,753 per household.

What Are The Wealthiest Cities In Nebraska? Latest Census Data Shows
Many towns along the Platte River rank among the richest places in Nebraska, most of them centered ... More on a series of man-made bodies of water. In a series of recent studies, states have been analyzed in terms of their household finances, home values, and property taxes, the point of which is to determine the richest cities in those states. Much of the Midwest and states of the Great Plains have been covered, including the richest cities in North Dakota, Kansas, and Illinois (the Prairie State). For this article, it is Nebraska's turn to get analyzed. Out of 592 places in Nebraska that the Census Bureau has data on, there are 512 cities in Nebraska with complete data for the financial datasets used: their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year. These were used to come up with a list of the 15 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Nebraska is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. What Are the Richest Cities in Nebraska? In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Nebraska, some important financial data was sourced from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. These data points included these four datasets: 1) median household income, 2) mean household income, 3) median home value, 4) median property taxes paid per household. Once these were gathered, they were scored using and the sum of their individual scores used to rank them. It is important to note some things that the Census Bureau does with its data. For a couple factors, the Census numbers have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. When it comes to median household income, for example, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+', so no median incomes are recorded above $250,000. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. Because of this, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another feature of the Census to point out is the use of Census-designated places — CDP. The Census essentially treats CDPs as cities, though in many cases the terminology is 'place'. This list of the richest cities in Nebraska uses this classification. Thus, if you see cities on this list that may be part of a larger township or you consider a neighborhood, it's because the Census Bureau has designated it as a 'place'. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Nebraska and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest place in Nebraska in this ranking is Woodland Hills, an unincorporated community east of Lincoln. This place is essentially centered on Woodland Hills Golf Course. It has two segments where its homes are located, one in the western half of the town and other in the northeast corner. This is a very small place, both in surface area and in terms of residences, with only 86 households. The median household income here is $134,022. The average household income is $169,172, the highest in the state. The median home value reported by the Census Bureau is $419,400, the fourth highest in Nebraska. Its property taxes are on the high end, at a median of $4,793 paid per household, but several towns have much higher figures. Beaver Lake came in as the No. 2 wealthiest city in Nebraska. This place is due south of Omaha and just west of the Missouri River. So many lake towns have made the top of these richest cities list and Beaver Lake is no different. Centered on Beaver Lake, this is a beautiful town of 766 households. Beaver Lake Marina is located in the northeast corner, while Lake Ridge Golf Course is on the south shore. The median household income here is slightly higher than Woodland Hills, at $136,364. The average income is slightly lower, at $166,788. Compared to other states' wealthiest cities, the median home value is reported as $384,500, though sale prices are likely higher. The median property taxes paid by household is $4,221, which isn't too bad. Coming in as the No. 3 richest city in Nebraska is Lake Waconda. This place is south of Beaver Lake and just as exquisite. Oddly, like Beaver Lake, it also has 86 households. It has the second highest median household income in Nebraska, at $140,221. Interestingly, its average household income is lower, at $134,883, which is not that common. Also interesting, the reported median home value here is $339,200, though it's likely they increased since the time of the 2023 American Community Survey. The property taxes paid by households, on the other hand, are the highest in the state: the median is $8,971 per household. The Bottom Line on the Richest Cities in Nebraska The top five wealthiest places in Nebraska are all centered on some kind of body of water: No. 1 Woodland Hills, Beaver Lake, Lake Waconda, Valley (which has a series of enclosed bodies of water off the Platte River), and Buccaneer Bay (which has two enclosed lakes and is south of the Platte River). The largest of the 15 wealthiest cities in Nebraska is Papillon, an oddly shaped city southwest of Omaha that's home to 9,247 households.

The Richest Places In Vermont As Revealed By The Latest Census Data
The Vermont side of Lake Champlain is home to more than one of the wealthiest places in Vermont. A series of recent studies have analyzed and identified the richest cities in several New England states, including the wealthiest in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. This time around, the study will identify and focus on the richest cities in Vermont. Read on to find out what the richest city in Vermont is, as well as the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state. What Is the Richest City in Vermont? In order to identify the richest cities in Vermont, multiple datasets were sourced from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates (which is the latest data available), including median household income, mean household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid. Taking these four metrics together, the study analyzed and compiled a list of the top 15 richest cities in Vermont. It is essential to note, however, some important quirks when it comes to Census data. For example, the Census Bureau measures median household incomes up to $250,000, with households earning more being designated as '$250,000+'. Furthermore, the Census does this with median home value, which goes up to $2 million and anything above that being denoted as '$2,000,000+'. Finally, the same parameters apply to tracking median property taxes paid by owner-occupied households, which go up to $10,000 and any amount above that is expressed as '$10,000+'. As a result, mean (average) household income was particularly useful in our analysis because, unlike median household income, mean household income has exact values for every city in Vermont. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. It should also be noted that the Census has a unique geographic unit called census-designated place, CDP. These are treated like towns or cities, but these 'places' often aren't officially recognized on the local level as towns. Thus, if you see a place on this list that you see as a neighborhood or community, it's because the Census treats it like an independent city. Below you'll find a table displaying the top 15 richest cities in Vermont and their respective dollar amounts for each metric: Using this four-factor metric of median household income, average household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid, the richest city in Vermont is Stratton Mountain. This is a ski resort location, within the town of Stratton. In terms of residents, Stratton Mountain is tiny, with only 36 total households. The median household income here is the highest in the state, at $174,722. The average household income is $262,881. The median home value reported by the Census Bureau is well over $1 million. Not surprisingly, the median property taxes paid per household is in excess of $10,000 per year. The No. 2 richest place in Vermont is Norwich CDP, which comprises the central village of the town of Norwich. Norwich CDP is actually different from Norwich town. The median household income in Norwich CDP is $167,625, while the average household income is $211,552. The median home value in Norwich CDP is $642,200. The median property taxes paid is over $10,000 per household. The No. 3 richest place in Vermont is Norwich town. Where Norwich CDP has 345 total households, the town of Norwich has 1,272 households. The town has slightly lower financial figures than the CDP. The median household income in Norwich town is $140,139 (versus $167,625 for the CDP). The mean household income is the town is $200,676 (versus $211,552 for the CDP). And the median home value in the town is $576,300 (versus $642,200 for the CDP). The No. 4 richest place in Vermont is Old Bennington, a village within the town of Bennington. Old Bennington contains the Bennington Battle Monument, commemorating the American Revolutionary War battle that took place there during the Saratoga Campaign of 1777. Old Bennington is a small place, home to only 74 households. What's interesting about Old Bennington is that the incomes are high compared to the median reported home value. The median household income is $154,375, while the average household income is $186,453. But the median home value is only $394,600. Still, property taxes are expensive, costing a median of $8,393 per household. The No. 5 richest city in Vermont is Charlotte, a town south of Burlington, along the eastern shore of Lake Champlain. This is a very beautiful area of the state. It also includes Garden Island and Point Bay Marina. Charlotte is bigger than Norwich, having 1,754 households to the latter's 1,272. The median household income in Charlotte is $136,385. The average household income is $165,858. According to Zillow, the median home value is $823,196. Property taxes are high, with households paying a median of $9,043 a year.

The Richest Cities In Alaska, Based On The Latest Census Data
Recently, a series of studies have been analyzing and identifying the richest cities in states across the country. Some of the most recent studies have included the wealthiest cities in Indiana, Montana, Oregon, Washington state, among others. It was decided to keep going with this Pacific Northwest trajectory and analyze Alaska next. This study analyzed 111 cities in Alaska with complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 15 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Alaska is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Alaska, important financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey was sourced. With these chosen data points, a four-factor scoring system was constructed: You should be aware of a few oddities that the Census Bureau does with its data. For certain factors, the Census sets upper limits on the numbers, so there's no exact value for certain factors. Take for example median household income: The Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+', and will list exact values only for figures below that. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census to point out, and is particularly relevant to Alaska, is the Census-designated place — CDP. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Alaska. But if you see cities on this list that you see as, say, neighborhoods, you're not wrong; they just happen to be treated as cities by the Census Bureau. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Alaska and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Alaska in this ranking is Gateway, a CDP a little under 40 miles northeast of Anchorage. There's a little over 2,000 households in this suburb. More than 30% of households in this town earn $200,000 or more. The average household income in Gateway is the highest in the state, at $166,988. The median household income is $137,150 is the third highest. The median home value, as reported by the Census Bureau, is $436,200, which is among the top five. The property taxes paid, with the median being $4,993, is the highest in the state. The No. 2 richest city in Alaska is Chena Ridge, a suburb of Fairbanks, west of the city. Chena Ridge is a census-designated place and actually contains the ghost town of Chena, which used to be as important as Fairbanks back in the early 1900s. This town is of comparable size to the No. 1 richest city on this list, containing just under 2,300 total households. Chena Ridge's median household income is the highest in the state, at $140,722. The mean household income is $158,967. The occupational breakdown for Chena Ridge makes sense for a high-income town, with Management Occupations accounting for a fifth of the workforce, according to Data USA. The median home value here is $411,600, with corresponding property taxes being amongst the highest, with a median paid of $4,757. The third richest city in Alaska is Cooper Landing, which is due south of Anchorage, situated on Kenai Lake. This town doesn't have a large population. There are only 114 total households in Cooper Landing. The median household income here is just under the median income of Chena Ridge, at $140,500 versus $140,500. The average household income in Cooper Landing is actually less than the median, which is unusual, at $134,467. The median home value reported by the Census is $404,500. The median property taxes paid here is comparatively cheap among the richest cities, costing $3,313 per household a year.
