Fatal Johor crash: Bezza slams into lorry, driver dies on spot, Singaporean later at hospital
JOHOR BAHRU, July 20 — An e-hailing driver and a Singaporean passenger died after the car they were travelling in crashed into a lorry at Kilometre 9, Jalan Johor Bahru–Air Hitam heading to Skudai, this morning. North Johor Bahru district police chief ACP Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said the incident occurred at about 11.27 am when a Perodua Bezza car driven by a 48-year-old local man was believed to have lost control before hitting the left rear of a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry. 'The car, believed to be travelling from Johor Bahru to Skudai, was carrying a 27-year-old Singaporean male passenger. 'As a result of the collision, the car driver suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene while his passenger died while receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), Johor Bahru,' he said in a statement today. Meanwhile, he said the lorry driver, a 28-year-old local man, did not suffer any injuries. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. He also called on the public with information regarding the incident to contact Investigating Officer, Inspector Zulhisyam Aziz at 019-7432966 to assist in the investigation. — Bernama

Son killed in Darnall road crash was 'everything to me', says father
A father whose 16-year-old son was killed in a road crash last month has said he was "everything to me".Abdullah Yaser Abdullah Al Yazidi died in hospital after being struck by a car on Staniforth Road in the Darnall area of Sheffield on 4 men were each subsequently charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder, and are due to stand trial next tribute to him, Abdullah's father, Yaser Abdullah Al Yazidi, said his son "smiled all the time with everybody". We need to do something in Darnall."Abdullah looked after his mum and dad and his three sisters. He made everybody happy around him."If you met him you would never forget him." Sheffield City Council said it offered its "deepest sympathies" to those affected by the tragedy and that it recognised the "strength of local concern" in the community. The authority added it was committed to "reviewing all available data, including from this location, to inform future safety measures".Zulkernain Ahmed, 20, and 26-year-old Armaan Ahmed, both of Locke Drive in Sheffield, appeared in court charged with Abdullah's murder days after the incident. They were remanded into custody and are due to go on trial on 13 January next Crown Court was told it was "highly likely" they would deny his murder.A third man, 29-year-old Adam Mohammed, of Acres Hill Road in Sheffield, was later charged with the same offences on 18 are still hunting for a fourth man, 22-year-old Zain Ahmed, in connection with the three counts of attempted murder relate to serious but non life-threatening injuries sustained by an 18-year-old man. Biker seriously injured in Devon A38 crash

Biggleswade doctor jailed after fatal motorcycle crash
A doctor whose dangerous driving caused the death of a father-of-two has been jailed for three Hammanjulde Hammawa, from Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, was overtaking an HGV when he crashed his black Mercedes car into 40-year-old Maciej Stepien, who was riding a silver Yamaha crash happened on the morning of 29 November 2022 on the B645 Chelveston Road near the Northamptonshire village of initially denied causing death by dangerous driving, 65-year-old Hammawa changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court to three years in prison. The court heard that the consultant was late for a clinic at the Irthlingborough Nene Clinic when he crossed double white lines on the B645 to overtake and collided with the Stepien, who lived in Northampton and worked for an IT firm in Cambridgeshire, died at the scene.A victim impact statement was read out by Joanna, Mr Stepien's wife and mother of his two children, at the sentencing hearing."Maciej wasn't just a statistic, or just another senseless casualty of dangerous and irresponsible driving," she said."Maciej was a very rare and extraordinary man of many talents, skills and passions, and a great personality."She described her husband as "a wonderful father and a great role model to our children who were only four and six when he passed away"."It is heartbreaking to know that their father will not teach them how to ride a bike or build a bookcase, or fend for themselves. There will be no more memories." 'Reckless actions' Hammawa was also disqualified from driving for six years and six Con Lee Norton, from Northamptonshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Team, was the lead investigator following the said: "Maciej died because of one person's decision to make a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre and I truly hope Mr Hammawa understands the pain he has caused as a result of his reckless actions that day."This case is a lesson to all road users to ensure you allow yourself enough time for any journey you wish to make."On this day, Mr Hammawa did not do this, instead making a split-second decision in his rush not to be late that cost Maciej his life."No sentence can ever make up for the loss of Maciej."
