Wantage teenagers make hometown road signs clean and 'cutesy'
A teenage duo who wash road signs around a town have said it "feels really good" seeing the signage "all clean", adding that the results look "so cutesy".Ellie, 17, and 19-year-old Tom estimate they have cleaned up to 30 dirty road signs around their hometown of Wantage, in Oxfordshire."I got into this through going around Wantage and seeing some of the disgusting signs that are here and wanting to do more," Ellie explained to the County Council said it was "grateful to all people who want to volunteer in their communities", and urged Ellie and Tom to sign up to its Oxfordshire Together programme. Tom said, having first come about when the pair were "talking about what we could get up to at the weekends", the results were "really satisfying".The pair added they were now receiving messages from friends with requests to clean specific council said: "We welcome volunteers who are willing to help carry out a number of tasks including vegetation cut back, weed control and sign cleaning."It added that it provided "training and equipment to enable people to carry out the works safely". Ludlow 'crusader' clears overgrown plants from road signs
A man who calls himself "Ed the litter crusader" has been clearing plants from road signs in his area after his stepson failed a driving goes out with a hedge trimmer and a sponge to make signs more visible to motorists, adding: "Presumably they were put there for a reason."He had previously gone out to unblock drains around Ludlow in Shropshire, but took up his new campaign when his stepson was marked down for driving into a keep clear space which was "completely obliterated".Shropshire Council said he was "one of many highly valued local volunteers" and it thanked "him for his efforts". Ed the litter crusader, who did not want to reveal his real name, said he found one sign "at about a 60 degree angle" because the legs had "rusted off" and another which was only just poking out from the top of a council said its own street cleaning teams "work hard to maintain levels of cleanliness and grounds maintenance across the country, but local volunteers help to complement this work".The man said there was "nothing remotely dangerous" about the sites he chose, but the council asked volunteers "to only work within a 30 mile an hour limit where it is safe to do so". Torquay's Daddyhole Road signs taken by 'souvenir hunters'
A road sign in Torquay has been repeatedly targeted by "souvenir hunters", a councillor has councillor Nick Bye said street signs on Daddyhole Road have disappeared and been replaced "twice in this term of office" - the last council elections were in May unusual name is reputed to come from the old Devon usage of the word 'daddy', as a reference to the devil, and legend says the devil lived in a cave at the base of the cliffs, formed when a massive chunk of limestone fell into the sea, creating the 'daddyhole'.The mystery of the missing signs was raised during a debate on how surplus money left over in the council coffers should be spent in local communities. 'Fascinated' by the road name Councillor Darren Cowell said some of the surplus money could be spent replacing some of the bay's damaged street signs, and Bye replied by saying some signs had been keeping him and councillor Hazel Foster busy already."We have first-hand experience of how well our road sign department responds," Bye said. "There are souvenir hunters who seem to be quite fascinated by the title of Daddyhole Road, and the sign keeps disappearing."Twice in this term of office we have had to get replacements."At a cabinet meeting, he said: "Quite why it gets taken away so frequently, who knows?"

Road sign theft investigation in Perth East
Perth County OPP are looking for help in a road sign theft investigation in Perth East. On June 6, police launched the investigation after reports were made that road signs and posts at four spots in the county were missing. Signs were missing from Perth Road 150 at Perth Line 52, Perth Road 150 at Perth Line 49, Perth Road 144 at Perth Line 46, and Perth Road 140 at Perth Line 44.
