Europe's newest theme park finally opens with mermaid, dragon and Viking themed lands

A HUGE new theme park has finally welcomed guests in Europe after being forced to delay its opening date. Hossoland in Poland was first announced back in 2017, and has hoped to open back in May. 3 It has since opened, with the official opening date on June 27. The theme park - in the village of Brojce which is around an hour from Szczecin - is spread across 400,000sqm. And inside are four themed zones. There is The Mermaid City, with the main attraction being the Mermaid Ride rollercoaster, which is a "fairy-tale world full of underwater adventures". Kingdom of Baltambrya will have the Poseidon ride, which is a swinging hammer experience. The Dragon Valley of the Mines will be a dragon -themed land, with suspended rollercoaster Aurora. And finally there is the Land of the Vikings with the Thor rollercoaster inspired by Valhalla. Other rides include chair rides, swinging ships, driving schools and playgrounds. Overall there will be 30 attractions, although was originally meant to have 50. And it isn't fully open yet, according to guests, with some of the rides yet to be fully up and running. Inside Universal Epic Universe with incredible thrill rides and amazing food Said to want to rival Enerylandia, another theme park in Poland, some guests have been left less than impressed. One wrote: "This is supposed to be competition for Energylandia? 4 rollercoasters?" This is because Energlyandia has 18 rollercoasters which includes the world's largest hybrid coaster. Others said the ticket prices were too high for the lack of rides. Another wrote: "The park still has attractions under construction, so lets hope those will be more thrilling." Some parents said that the park is great for younger guests with lots for them to do, but that there was a lack of adult rides. Tickets cost 169PLN (£34.10) for guests over 120cm, or 1PLN (20p) for guests up to 85cm. Reduced tickets for anyone over the age of 65 or for pregnant guests are 149PLN (£30). This is for guests visiting during high season, from June 28 to August 31 with reduced tickets during the low season. The theme park will be open from 10am until 1pm in the summer season. Here is what it's like to go to Energylandia, according to a theme park expert. 3

Cedar Point guests left dangling from new Siren's Curse for about 10 minutes on Saturday

Visitors to Cedar Point on Saturday, June 28 had some unexpected surprises. Lines for the park's newest roller coaster the Siren's Curse that made its public debut on Saturday extended well into the Midway and beyond its queue that is already a two-hour wait. Cedar Point: Watch a Beacon Journal reporter ride Siren's Curse and question his life decisions Park spokesman Tony Clark said in the afternoon the coaster "experienced a delay" that left riders suspended in the coaster's signature tilt function. "The coaster's safety system performed as designed, the ride was restarted, and guests continued their ride," Clark said. "Siren's Curse reopened shortly after and all guests exited the ride safely." The affected riders were stuck in the vertical position, he said, for under 10 minutes. The coaster was closed for about 25 minutes before guests were once again able to ride. The ride's signature feature is atop the 160-foot-tall lift hill where the coaster train precariously tilts riders to the ground and track below It was during this feature amid the tilt when the coaster shut itself down and had to be reset and inspected by a technician. The impacted riders were not evacuated from the ride that was once again sent through the tilt function to wind along some 2,966 feet of twisting track at a top speed of 58 mph. A large power outage on Saturday impacted sections of Cedar Point closing many rides and attractions. Clark said the power outage hit around 8 p.m. and was not restored until 9:45 p.m. The park's regular closing time for the night was 10 p.m. Sandusky Police say a motorist struck a utility pole on Cedar Point Road knocking out power to the park. Clark said the Sandusky amusement park resumed normal operations on Sunday. Screams, cheers and Katy Perry? Check out first reactions to Siren's Curse at Cedar Point

"Why do I let you talk me into this?" Photojournalist Edwin Wilson of WSYX-TV 6 in Columbus asked that of his colleague, reporter Cameron Fontana, as the pair hung for several seconds pointing straight down, waiting for Siren's Curse to release the brakes. A select group of roller coaster enthusiasts, as well as members of the media, got their chance to check out the newest roller coaster at Cedar Point on Thursday, June 26. And the air was filled with screaming, cheering and even a little Katy Perry, according to posts on social media. The coaster will open to the public on Saturday, June 28. But if you're a season passholder, get to the Sandusky, Ohio, theme park tonight, Friday, June 27, for a chance to ride it early. Here's what those who have already ridden Siren's Curse have to say: If you have a season pass to Cedar Point, you can get your chance to ride Siren's Curse early from 2 to 10 p.m. June 27. According to a recent post on Cedar Point's Facebook page, the offer is valid for all season passes – summer, gold, prestige and all-park passports. And if you want to ride it early, you should be able to buy a season pass today and use it tonight, according to the park's FAQ. The newest addition to the Sandusky theme park is billed as the tallest, fastest and longest 'tilt' roller coaster in America, the Akron Beacon Journal previously reported. The name Siren's Curse comes from the mythical sirens who reside in Lake Erie and lure sailors with their singing. After riders ascend the 160-foot lift hill, they stop on the edge of a piece of "broken" track. Suddenly, that piece of track tilts 90 degrees, connecting to more track below before sending riders straight down. In all, riders travel 2,966 feet of track at a top speed of 58 mph. The ride features 13 instances of weightlessness (called airtime moments) along with two 360-degree, zero-gravity barrel rolls and a high-speed 'triple-down' element with twisted and overbanked track.
