New York Giants' Malik Nabers makes debut on NFL Top 100 Players of 2025 list
There aren't many players the New York Giants can hang their hats on these days. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, linebacker Brian Burns, and left tackle Andrew Thomas, the team's three highest players, are among the best at their positions in the league, but there's not a lot to pick from after that -- yet. Enter second-year wide receiver Malik Nabers, who set an NFL record for receptions by a rookie wideout last season. Nabers is one of the league's biggest rising stars and was recently named to NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2025 list. No. 67 - Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants 15 games | 109 rec | 1,204 rec yds | 11.0 ypr | 7 rec TDs | 2 rush yds | 1 rush TD An emerging star in New York, Nabers was a highlight reel every week for the Giants. Regardless of who was under center for the Giants, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 draft filled the stat sheet. Nabers was a bright spot in New York's underwhelming season with his receptions tally briefly holding the rookie record, and finishes his debut campaign with a Top 100 accolade to his résumé. NFL Pro Insight for : Malik Nabers was targeted on 36.5% of his routes run when facing single-high safety coverage last season, second-highest in the NFL among wide receivers with at least 150 such routes run. Nabers earned 103 targets against single-high coverages last season, nine more than any other receiver. However, he gained just 649 yards on those targets, ranking 13th overall. The Giants feel they have several other possible rising stars, such as safety Tyler Nubin, tight end Theo Johnson, running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., and linebacker Abdul Carter. Nick Kurtz's parents recall tense moment for Athletics rookie before wild at-bat
The post Nick Kurtz's parents recall tense moment for Athletics rookie before wild at-bat appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Athletics' Nick Kurtz may be a rookie, but he produced one of the greatest offensive games in Major League Baseball history when he bashed four home runs, a double and a single in his six at-bats Friday night against the Houston Astros. The 22-year-old slugger became the youngest player in the history of baseball to hit four home runs in a game. As great a day as Kurtz had in the 15-3 triumph, there was a moment of concern among Kurtz's parents as they watched their son put on his show at Daikin Park in Houston. Since the game was out of hand in the ninth inning, the Astros brought in position player Cooper Hummel to pitch the final stanza. Parents Jeff and Marie Kurtz were concerned because Kurtz had only had one at-bat against a non-pitcher in his career. 'We just didn't want him to look foolish,' Jeff Kurtz told Chandler Rome of The Athletic. 'We were actually hoping they'd pinch hit for him. The score was what it was, let someone else hit.' 'Not hoping,' Marie interjected, 'but we'd be OK with it. Again, no idea that there was anything big on the table.' Athletics have some talented hitters in their lineup

Athletics' Nick Kurtz reacts to ‘awesome' 4-HR game vs. Astros
The post Athletics' Nick Kurtz reacts to 'awesome' 4-HR game vs. Astros appeared first on ClutchPoints. Athletics rookie Nick Kurtz has enjoyed success at the major league level since receiving his promotion. However, he has not had a night quite like the one he had on Friday. The Athletics rookie swatted four home runs against the Houston Astros. He recorded six total hits, driving in eight runs, and scoring six. This is one of the most impressive offensive performances in MLB history. To do this as a rookie makes the feat all the more awe-inspiring. Kurtz is certainly going through a ton of different emotions. But he still took time after the game to try and put everything into words. 'It still really hasn't set in that it actually just happened. A game like that is stuff that you don't even dream about, because it doesn't really happen. It's just an unbelievable feeling. Glad we got the win, obviously. That performance was awesome,' the Athletics rookie said, via beat reporter Martin J. Gallegos. Athletics' Nick Kurtz led charge vs. Astros The Athletics are not having the best 2025 season in the league. However, they were on top of the baseball world on Friday. Kurtz's performance led the charge as the formerly Oakland-based ball club claimed a 15-3 victory. The Athletics improved to 44-62 on the season. This is their second straight victory, and it guarantees them series split with Houston. If they can win one of the next two, it will be the A's first series win since mid-July. They claimed two of three against the Blue Jays on July 12 and 13. The Astros, meanwhile, fell to 60-44 on the season. They continue to hold first place in the AL West. Their lead is now five games over the Seattle Mariners. Seattle recently acquired Josh Naylor in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, though. This could place some pressure on Houston to make a move before the MLB Trade Deadline. As mentioned, the Athletics and Astros have another two games remaining. The A's will seek their series victory on Saturday evening, before the two AL West rivals end the series on Sunday afternoon in Houston. Tennessee Titans' Cam Ward: 'There's a Target on My Back' as No. 1 Pick
Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward isn't hiding from the pressure that comes with being the NFL's first-overall draft selection. "I don't think I'm being welcomed in [the league] with open arms. I was the first pick. I'm blessed to be that. But, at the end of the day, there's a target on my back," Ward said as part of an interview with The Athletic that was published on Wednesday morning. "There's a target on everyone's back in the league, but I'm trying to prove myself to my teammates." Ward also expressed that he doesn't "care about the hype." The rookie signal-caller, who's expected to be Tennessee's Week 1 starter, is coming off a terrific senior season at Miami in 2024. In said season, Ward totaled 4,313 passing yards, 39 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 172.2 passer rating, while completing 67.2% of his passes. Ward's passing touchdowns and passer rating each led the ACC, which named the quarterback its 2024 Player of the Year. Furthermore, Ward was a finalist for the 2024 Heisman Trophy Award. He spent the previous two seasons at Washington State (2022-23), which was preceded by two seasons at Incarnate Word (2020-21). Elsewhere in Tennessee's quarterback room, 2023 second-rounder Will Levis is expected to miss all of next season due to a shoulder injury. Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle make up the rest of the Titans' quarterback depth chart. The first chance to see Ward in action is on Aug. 9, as the Titans open their 2025 preseason on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They open the regular season on the road against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 7 (4:05 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app). Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
