M60 delays: Speed limit reduced on part of motorway during work
The speed limit on a section of the M60 will be reduced to 50mph (80kmh) for more than three months while a new safety barrier is installed, National Highways has said. Work on the motorway between Junction 16 at Clifton and 18 at Simister Island has been planned to run from Monday to 22 August. National Highways said that while the work would mainly be done overnight, the speed limit would be reduced and lanes narrowed "for safety" throughout the period. Minor delays are expected and drivers are advised to plan and allow extra time. Resurfacing work will also be done at Junction 17, near Prestwich, requiring some overnight closures of slip roads from 16 June to 4 July and diversions will be in place. The agency said: "We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for bearing with us."
