Tornado warning for Hanover-Dundalk-southern Grey County
Environment Canada is tracking a severe thunderstorm Friday evening that could produce a tornado in the Hanover-Dundalk-southern Grey County area. (File) A tornado warning is in effect for Hanover-Dundalk-southern Grey County. Environment Canada says extra care and attention should be exercised in these locations. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado and wing gusts up to 100 km/h is moving through the area. Locations impacted include Dundalk, Varney, Holstein, Yeovil, Maple Lane and Hopeville. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

PHOTOS: Line of severe storms sweeps into southern Ontario
Much of southern Ontario saw a thunderous start to the weekend as a line of severe thunderstorms swept into the region Friday evening. The line of potent storms prompted widespread severe thunderstorm warnings from Sarnia to Barrie, as well as one tornado warning near Durham. Strong winds and heavy rain accompanied the storms as they pushed through the region. The thunderstorms provided quite the sight for residents in the region as shelf clouds and rainbows filled the skies. See some of the visuals from Friday evening's storms across Ontario, below. Wow! Columbus, parts of central Ohio under severe thunderstorm warning; 60 mph gusts possible
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Columbus and parts of central Ohio. The warning applies to northeastern Franklin County, southeastern Delaware County and southwestern Licking County until 6:45 p.m. Friday, June 27. The storm was located over Ohio State University at 6:16 p.m. and could bring 60 mph wind gusts and damage to trees and powerlines, the NWS said. The storm was moving quickly off to the east. Severe thunderstorm watch for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent. The alert was issued just before 3 p.m. on Friday. According to the weather agency, conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that could cause damaging winds and heavy rain. Wind gusts up to 90 to 110 km/h are possible. A heat warning remains in effect. Here's a look at your forecast: Friday night: Partly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms. Wind southwest 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h. Low 22 C. Saturday: Mainly cloudy. 30 per cent chance of showers early in the morning, clearing late in the morning. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h. High 28 C, humidex 34 C. Saturday night: Clear. Fog patches developing after midnight. Low 16 C. Sunday: Sunny. High 31 C. Sunday night: Clear. Low 22 C.

It is another hot late June day in southern Manitoba on Friday, with the potential for severe storms to develop. Much like earlier this week, widespread instability is developing across the region. Supercell thunderstorms could develop there along a trough and cold front moving in from Saskatchewan. The weather agency cautions a separate disturbance could be even more likely to trigger supercell thunderstorms north of the border that could potentially produce large hail and bring the risk of a tornado. The chance of showers or thunderstorms will grow in the evening and overnight. Northern regions are not exempt from the possibility of thunderstorms Friday. There is the chance of showers with the risk of thunderstorms across most regions in the afternoon and into the night. Looking ahead to the Canada Day long weekend in Winnipeg, this risk of thunderstorms will continue in hot and humid conditions, with temperatures forecast to reach the upper 20s. Canada Day on Tuesday will be mainly sunny with a forecast high of 26 C.
