The Oura Ring 4 Has Been a Game Changer for My Sleep, and It's 15% Off Right Now for Prime Day
It's no secret that sleep is important. At this point, I think we all understand that it affects just about every aspect of our well-being -- from mood to athletic performance. But I never really understood how much some of my daily habits affected my sleep quality and, in turn, my energy levels during the day. That is until I started using the Oura Ring. What started as an interesting way of tracking my step count and workouts ended up being a real game changer for my sleep and overall well-being. Right now, all finishes of the Oura Ring 4 are on sale, with some savings as high as $60 off for Prime Day. This is the first time I've seen the Oura Ring 4 on sale, so I would grab it before the offer ends. Unlike bulky smartwatches, the Oura ring is sleek, lightweight and highly comfortable. I wear it all day, every day, and only take it off while I shower (which is when I charge it). Every morning, I check the Oura app to see my sleep score, which breaks down how much sleep I got and how much time I spent in deep, REM and light sleep. For more on sleep, be sure to check out our best sleep trackers and tips on getting better rest tonight. How I use it Nasha Addarich Martínez/CNET The biggest thing I started paying attention to was my "Readiness Score," which tells me how well my body has recovered overnight and how well it handles daytime stress. If my score is low, Oura prompts me to take it easy that day and suggests meditations I can access from within the app. I've also used the ring to tweak my nighttime routine. I used to scroll on my phone before bed, but after seeing how much it disrupted my sleep, I switched to the in-app Headspace meditations instead. I noticed how my sleep quality has improved since then. Why it's worth it Before using an Oura ring, I thought I was getting decent sleep. After using the Oura Ring Gen 3 model for a year and then switching to the Gen 4 (which I have been using for six months), I now realize how much better I feel when prioritizing rest and having a good nighttime routine. I wake up feeling more refreshed and energized. It's also one of the few fitness trackers I don't mind wearing all the time since it looks like a piece of jewelry, not a bulky tech device. If you're curious about how your sleep and recovery impact your overall well-being, the Oura ring is for you. In fact, this gadget is so useful and easy to set up, I think it would make an excellent gift for anyone looking to step up their health and wellness game.

The Whoop 5.0 Is Here for Your Health and Longevity: What's New?
Whoop, CNET's favorite sleep tracker, just announced that it launched not one but two new devices: the Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG (aka medical grade). With these current models, the company has also unveiled new membership tiers and a host of new health, longevity and fitness features. Whoop 5.0 vs 4.0: what's new? The Whoop 5.0 now offers 14+ days of battery life on a single charge. For $29, you can purchase a basic charger or grab a wireless powerpack for $49. With the wireless powerpack, consumers have access to a full month of battery life. Whoop 5.0 can also be worn on multiple locations on the body -- not just the wrist -- for 24/7 tracking. If you find having a wearable on your wrist to be clunky and uncomfortable, this is a game-changer. The 5.0 model is also 7% smaller, per Business Wire, than the 4.0 but delivers 10 times more power efficiency. Updated sensors capture data 26 times per second. Whoop With the new Healthspan for users age 18 and older, Whoop measures your "Whoop age" compared to your chronological age and "pace of aging" using nine different health metrics. This gives users insights into how their lifestyle decisions affect their longevity and provides recommendations that help them optimize their health. Whoop Hormonal Insights is another fresh feature that assists members in better understanding how their menstrual cycles, hormonal fluctuations and pregnancy impact sleep, recovery, strain and overall well-being. Similar to Healthspan, the feature will also provide actionable insights and recommendations. It is not to be used for birth control or fertility tracking. Whoop There has been an update to the Whoop Sleep Score, which gives users a more accurate reflection of their sleep quality so they can better recover. Comprehensive fitness tracking has received a similar upgrade, so members now see their VO₂ Max numbers during fitness tracking and muscular strength during strength training and 145+ supported activities. The Whoop MG The Whoop MG has a Heart Screener, which includes an FDA-cleared ECG or electrocardiogram, a test that checks heartbeat. These results can be shared directly with your doctor. The Heart Screener also detects and informs users about possible early warning signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib) and Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications (IHRN). Note that this feature is not for people with known arrhythmias other than AFib or those under age 22. It is also not recommended for users with implanted electronic devices such as cardiac pacemakers or ICDs (implantable cardioverter-defibrillators). Whoop Currently in beta, Blood Pressure Insights is another new MG feature that offers daily estimates of systolic and diastolic ranges and provides more information about how blood pressure affects well-being. Whoop Advanced Labs Whoop has released the waitlist for its new Whoop Advanced Labs in the US, which will allow customers to purchase and schedule a blood test at a nearby location or in their home. Then, in their Whoop app, they'll receive a personalized analysis that allows them to understand what their results mean for their health and what changes they can make. In between tests, you see how your behavior changes impact biomarkers like cholesterol and glucose levels as well as sleep health. Note that this will be an additional charge not included in your Whoop membership. It is not currently covered by insurance, but the company is working on HSA/FSA eligibility. New Whoop membership tiers There are three new Whoop membership tiers: One (for fitness performance), Peak (longevity and health management) and Life (advanced health and heart monitoring). The prices are as follows: Whoop One: $199/year. Includes the Whoop 5.0. $199/year. Includes the Whoop 5.0. Whoop Peak: $239/year. Includes the Whoop 5.0. $239/year. Includes the Whoop 5.0. Whoop Life: $359/year. Includes the Whoop MG. You can purchase the Whoop 5.0 or MG now here. If you're already a member, you can extend your membership by 12 months to get a free hardware upgrade to the 5.0 with a one-time fee and no changes to your current term. You also have the option to upcycle the Whoop 4.0 to earn credit toward your upgrade or accessories.
