Horror after little boy climbs on the OUTSIDE of huge slide...then loses his grip

Park-goers in Philadelphia got the scare of a lifetime when a little boy climbing on top of a massive slide lost his grip and plunged to the ground. The heart-stopping fall took place at FDR Park in South Philadelphia, where a group had gathered to celebrate a family reunion, 6abc reported. A bystander's video showed that the toddler managed to crawl on the outside of the enclosed slide at Anna Verna Playground as a crowd of several people watched from below. A worried family member realized the boy was in danger and told him to come back down. One person appeared to be attempting to climb up the slide to reach the boy when the youngster slipped. As he fell, the group on the ground rushed in to break the boy's fall. A man attending the reunion said his cousin swooped in just in time. 'After he stopped the initial impact, or the force from him falling, it softened the blow,' Rafael Miles told 6abc of his cousin's heroic actions. 'He hit the ground. But it wasn't like a very serious impact, so luckily he was there.' The quick-thinking response saved the boy from serious injury.

Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson dodged a tag with insane slide

Catchers aren't known for being the fastest. They also aren't known for being the most evasive. Tyler Stephenson needed to make sure he had one of those skills on Sunday, or the Cincinnati Reds catcher would've been dead meat at second base. Advertisement He certainly didn't have enough speed. Stephenson was thrown out by a bunch. Except, then he pulled out one of the coolest slide-dodge moves you'll ever see. Safe. Most of the slide dodges you see come on headfirst slides that feature some kind of swim move with the hands. Not this one. Stephenson just scooted right on by. MORE MLB NEWS:

Both embankment slides now open at Albuquerque's Juan Tabo Hills Park

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – After two years and multiple delays, both embankment slides at Juan Tabo Hills Park are finally open to the public. The city celebrated the opening of the second slide Saturday, thanks in part to a determined local 10-year-old named Benny Metzger. Benny, who recently celebrated his birthday, was the first to ride down the long-awaited yellow tube slide. 'I have literally never been the guest of honor at a place, ever, in my whole entire life,' Bennie said. His big moment came after he wrote a letter to Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Director Dave Simon, asking when the slide would finally be fixed. South Valley Youth Initiative brings resources to 'underserved' area 'I would appreciate it very much if the yellow tube slide could be fixed or replaced before this summer. Thank you for considering this matter. Sincerely, Benny.' Benny Metzger (partial quote from his letter) 'I thought, maybe they've forgotten about it, or maybe the contract is taking longer than expected,' Benny explained. His letter helped shine a spotlight on the unfinished project, part of a more than half-a-million-dollar investment in the park. The first of the two slides opened to the public last year. City officials said delays in equipment delivery and additional safety modifications pushed back the second opening. What cockroaches do we have in Albuquerque? 'Our number one goal was to make a slide that was incredibly fun and exciting—but safe for children,' said Parks and Recreation Director Dave Simon. Now, both slides are open and ready for kids to enjoy. Bennie's review? 'You just go through it, and you don't know where the light is, and then you're like—ahhh!' he exclaimed. The city reminds the public that while the slides are built for fun, they are designed specifically for children, not teens or adults. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
